Sasaki and Miyano - Reviews

Sasamiya is one of my favourite BL manga, so I was very excited for the anime. Did the anime deliver? Yes, but with a problem. Is it worth watching? Yes. It's a good anime for BL fans, for anyone who is looking for something to pass the time, for anyone who wants to watch something cute and light.

Stuff about the characters, story, etc., I have already said in my manga review and it still applies here, so I won't mention it again. On to the rest. The animation is good, flows smoothly imo, the colours are appealing and go well with the soft vibe, there aren't many weird-looking panels that I have noticed. The sound is fine too, op and ed are nice but probably unmemorable, voice acting sounded good.

So, what is the problem that I mentioned before? The draged-out scenes. In the first episodes there aren't any issues, the story sets off fine. But somewhere in the middle of the show you will start noticing that some episodes/scenes feel so dragged out it becomes boring. I gave a seven to the story because of that. The show should have 8 episodes max, 12 episodes is too much for what it has to offer. Now, you could argue that the manga is slow-burn, but let me tell you I love slow-burn and love the manga for that, but that is not what I'm talking about. While the anime is also slow-burn and there's nothing wrong with that, that's not what I'm referring to, it's about the dragged out scenes. I don't care if it takes 12 or 20 episodes for someone to realise their feelings, for a couple to get together, for a fight to happen, wtv wtv, as long as those 12 episodes aren't stretched. Some scenes feel like they needed to drag stuff to make it to the 24 (?) minute and 12 episodes mark. That happens somewhere in some episodes in the middle of the show, then it becomes 'normal' again in the last episodes (I think?? I'm watching the episodes as they air and my memory is shit, but I think the last episodes I watched were fine.) I don't think they are that bad to watch and the show is still a good show nevertheless.

Was it enjoyable? Yes, definitely. Would I recommend it? Definitely (while also telling you to read the manga if you can). It was fun, it was cute, it was nice to watch despite the dragged scenes. I love the main characters and side characters (my fav is even a side character), the story is light and plays with its own clichés, the last episode was so cute it made up for any problems the anime had... I'm looking forward for the next season.

First bl anime I've ever watched and I'm glad it was the first. I loved every second of it, especially the confessions from both of them. Everyone Sasaki blushes but held himself back cause me to scream into my pillow. This anime is one of the most wholesome ones I've ever seen. The story progression of miyano realising he's gay can be a bit slow but I still enjoyed every second of it and I'll probably rewatch in the future 

(spoiler free) this was such a solid show. It made my heart burst frm the first episode (so cute!). The art is pretty & i like the OST as it rly adds to the scenes.The OP makes me feel happy. The dub voice acting is great so i recommend seeing that. If u want a feel good show, this anime is for u. This and 'given' stand out in the sea of uhh..questionable BL anime. Im glad that there's more normal BL shows being made

Main genres imo: school life, romance

I have watched most of the GL anime and read many GL manga and i was thinking of  trying BL too but i never got around it but last year when i found out that this BL with a high school setting was about to be released i figured that i would it a try it but never got around it because I started watching some shounen and slice of life but now when I finally got the time to watch i was very surprised that it was quite good considering it was my first BL.

characters

the characters of the show are very interesting but quite common in most romance anime.the protagonist is quite interesting and has an habit to read BL but himself doesn't like men and the other is like delinquent or something like that takes an interest in our protagonist and reads and borrows bl manga from him.

Story

the story was good but the first 4 episodes were very fast paced and the main problem i found was that the characters were quite optimistic. like let's say boy A is going to do something that his classmates asked him to and under pressure he accepted and and character B asked him to stand up for himself and say no to them. but later character A says he won't refuse it just because character B said so. and character B starts thinking it in a positive way that atleast he thought about it?? like wtf 💀 bro? i am not making this shit up this type of shit literally happens in the story. the rest was good and sweet.

Animation and Sound

the soundtrack was quite amazing and soothing but the OP was kinda OK but the ed was amazing.

the animation was kinda fire 🔥 and good and sometimes when the animation does the thing with colour box around them whenever they are happy is very good and creative.

Conclusion

this is an anime pretty good if u r starting out in BL it isn't really convincing coming from me as i too just watched my first BL but as a GL reader and watcher i can confirm it is good for beginners

It was an amazing anime that fills your heart with joy. I cannot express how happy I felt for these two as if two of my closest friends were falling in love with each other before my eyes, it's such a heart-warming story I felt so sad when I knew we needed to wait for another season, can't wait to see more of them.
