With a history of leading a motorcycle gang and getting bad grades in school, why would 22 year old Onizuka ever want to become a teacher? Is it to educate young minds or spread the joy of education? Sure, if it involves being able to look up high school girls' skirts! Watch as this would-be educator uses his own life lessons and unconstituted methods as a means to control a delinquent class of students -- students who certainly aren't as happy to have him as a teacher as he is happy to be teaching...

Both these anime tell the story of a rowdy rulebreaker in a milieu governed by decorum and rules. Both protagonists have turned from being leaders of motorcycle gangs (bōsōzoku) to undertaking careers that seem completely different from their pasts. Kintaro to be a sarariman, a salaried employee of a corporation; Onizuka to become a teacher. Yet in both cases, their rowdy pasts and a surprising amount of determination are turned to their advantage.
If there is a difference between Onizuka and Kintaro, it is that Kintaro takes himself a great deal more seriously than Onizuka. Where Onizuka is essentially a vulgar person with a heart of gold, Kintaro is a diamond in the rough, a great and dignified leader in the making.
Both Onizuka and Kintaro are former gangleaders that chooses to try and become less disruptive members of society. They face some problems when their own personal convictions puts them at odds with the demands of holding down an honest job. Especially when trying to find ways of solving these problems by means other than resorting to fisticuffs.
The title characters in both Great Teacher Onizuka and Salaryman Kintaro have unsavory backgrounds and an ability to solve seemingly impossible problems with ease. Both characters are more admirable than the straitlaced society that disparages them. GTO is the better of the two as it uses humor instead of over-the-top sanctimony to drive its point across, but the two series are similar enough that if you enjoyed one, you should like the other, as well.
If you liked one the main character in one of these animes chances a re you will like the other. Both are ex biker gansters now trying more normal careers. Their pasts both keep popping up in their present states.
Both are good comedies; while the laughs in onizuka tend to arise out of his stupid actions the laughs in Kintaro tend to come from subtler confrontations. Both are great anime, so if you haven't seen either you should get on that today!
Both have characters who have gang experience that want to find their place in the world with doing proper jobs, while trying to knock sense into the corrupted individuals within their setting (without losing their jobs in the process).

Your probably wondering what a show about dogs fighting bears and a show about salarymen struggling against the bureaucracy have in common? Manly tears, and also both share a very extreme sense of comradarie. They have both have pretty bad animation too, although in the case of Gin it was because of the age of the series.
Ryo Saeba and Kaori Makumura are private detectives who make up the City Hunter team -- problem solvers who can be hired by writing 'xyz' in a certain train station. Ryo's uncanny accuracy with a gun is surpassed only by his lecherous tendencies, while Kaori provides the sideline support -- usually in the form of a 50,000 kg mallet to keep Ryo's ecchiness under control!

This has the same "manly" vibe going on. Except, in Golgo13 the MC is not very talkative but once he accepts a job, he wil always go through with it no matter what. I watched Golgo 13 before I watched Salaryman Kintaro and after about 2 epiodes into Salaryman Kintaro I was reminded of Golgo13 in terms of the character personality. If you like Salaryman Kintaro for the personailty of the MC, I believe you will appreciate Golgo13 as well.

They both heavily feature insightful, humours observations about the common madman we all are.I am damn sure you either like both these anime or neither of them.
