Made in the aftermath of WWII by the surviving animators in Tokyo, Sakura depicts Kyoto in the springtime, concentrating on the traditional image of a trainee geisha, before moving on to shots of two puppies playing amid a shower of cherry blossoms, and butterflies who turn out to have human faces.
