These are both "magical girl" anime with very similar premises -- an ordinary schoolgirl by day becomes a do-gooder theif by night. Both of them deal with freindship, romance, and the problem of having a secret identity. Additionally, both tend to be on the lighter side, mostly fun and upbeat with a bit of dramatic tension interspersed througout.

MiiLoveU1 MiiLoveU1 says...

At both anime's the basics are the same: a girl who is a normal girl at day, but at night she becomes a thief that steals so other people can be happy again. Though, in the background it's very different. If you want a somewhat lighter anime, I would recommend Kaitou Saint Tail, while if you want a story which is somewhat heavier, I'd recommend Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne. In the end, I enjoyed both the anime's very much, and if you like one of these two, I think you'll also like the other one.

Cardcaptor Sakura

Cardcaptor Sakura

Sakura Kinomoto never imagined that by opening a book in her father's library, she'd be responsible for releasing wild magic into the world, yet that's exactly what she did. Too powerful to be let loose on the world, the magical Clow cards were sealed away long ago by their creator, Clow Reed. But all is not lost, for the guardian beast, Keroberos, was sealed along with the cards! Can Sakura, with the help of Keroberos, retrieve the cards before they wreak havoc on the town?

Both are cute episodic magical girl shows from the ninties that are clean and family friendly. The main characters are sweet and pure-hearted.

[This is based off of my thoughts as of episode 30 of Saint Tail and having watched all of CCS]

Both are cute mahou shoujo from the mid-late 1990's that have a fun atmosphere with light drama and some romantic elements. Both are mostly episodic in nature, with a narrative underpinning each episode.

Cardcaptor Sakura is much more focused on the mahou and Saint tail is more focused on the shoujo though, with the former focusing on the magical plotline with Clow. Saint Tail doesn't really delve into where Meimi gets her powers and instead focuses on the romance between Asuka and Meimi more than Sakura and Shaoran's relationship.

They both have the same concept but are different enough to catch your attention to the other.

D.N.Angel

D.N.Angel

For Niwa Daisuke, turning 14 should be accompanied by romance and the promise of new adventures into adulthood, but instead comes with a surprising revelation: all male children of the Niwa's bloodline inherit the powers (alter ego) of Dark, a phantom thief, upon their 14th birthday! Now, in addition to his ever-present quest to win the heart of his childhood friend Risa, Daisuke must commit acts of thievery (with his doppelganger Dark controlling his body), to steal mysterious pieces of art for unknown purposes. For Daisuke, his growing pains are just beginning!

Though both DNAngel and Kaitou Saint Tail are about thieves, that's not the only reason I'm recommending the two together. Both start out fairly/mildly dark, but end up being mostly slice of life, lighthearted thievery tales (admittedly I haven't seen much Kaitou, though). Kaitou is more of a shoujo story while DNAngel is aimed more at boys, but I think fans of one might enjoy the other.

Both anime have very similar topics. Both involve theives who steal for good purpose and leave notes before they strike. They both have a little romance and are very cute. They have similar morals to their stories and besides, both are hillarious! I definetly recomend both.

If you like the thieving tales of Kaitou Saint Tail and want a little less mahou shoujo, why not check out the ultimate thief anime Jing? It's random, comedic, and overall a lot better in every way (unless you want a recurring or cohesive story).

Saint Tail has a similar thieving theme, is episodic - so one is able to catch it sparingly, much like Cat's Eye. The heroine in both is also romantically involved with the detective trying to catch them.

Saint Tail and Wedding Peach can be appreciated by the same audience because they share a similar atmosphere and were created with the same target audience in mind. Although Saint Tail is a bit more grounded in the sense that the storyline only uses magic as a visual effect, rather than a full on theme or backstory - the themes of friendship and high school romance, and the humour should appeal to the same crowd.
