Action, fighting and general macho standoffs abound in both these anime. If you like your characters cooler and harder than ice, and you thought either Kenshin or Tenjho Tenge had it, then try the other one. What's more, both have a host of likeable characters and ensure the storyline is always highly engaging. The single major difference is that Tenjho Tenge involves ecchi whereas Kenshin does not.

Tears to Tiara

Tears to Tiara

Rhiannon is the fair and gentle daughter of a village chief. Unfortunately for her, she's also exactly the sort of maiden who is needed as a sacrifice to wake the Demon King Arawn from his thousand-year slumber and is soon kidnapped for this very purpose. However, when Arawn is summoned, he decides to spare Rhiannon's life, instead killing her captor and freeing her from mind control. Taken with his kindness, Rhiannon immediately decides to marry the Demon King, making him the new village chief. All of this is bad news for Rhiannon's protective but hot-headed brother Arthur, who must now pledge his knightly service to his new Lord, Arawn. Together the three of them must journey and together they must fight, encountering new friends and new foes along the way.

At first the two movies might not look like they have much in common, since their stories and genres seem quite different, but they do.

First of all the main character  is in both the nearly unbeatable type, that has to fight enemies of his past and live with old sins. One is called Hitokiri (killer) and the other one Mao (demon king).

Moreover they both have plenty of sword fighting and action.

Finally they are both about creating a better world for those you love. Both main characters  try to protect the weak and fight against the idea of the weaker being unworthy of living.

All in all I think these two Animes have a  very similar feeling to them

Kenichi and Rurouni are completely different in setting and character, but they both allow us to see the funny aspects in the lifes of a group of companions that train in a den. Both are represented mainly by slap-stick comedy, so whoever is looking for that kind of a laugh, these are both the right places.

InuYasha: The Final Act

InuYasha: The Final Act

Naraku has completely tainted the Shikon jewel, and with only a few shards left to claim, he’ll soon be invincible. Inuyasha, Kagome and the rest of their companions are the only ones who stand in the man’s way, and he’ll stop at nothing to see their demise. But the motley crew of heroes has their own personal hurdles to overcome on the way to victory, such as Kagome settling her rivalry with Kikyo, Sango coming to terms with her living corpse of a brother, Miroku’s impending demise from his ever-widening wind tunnel, and Inuyasha’s quest to discover the true purpose of the two swords left to he and his brother, Sesshomaru. One thing’s for sure, the gang’s struggles will only make them stronger as they prepare for the biggest battle in the history of feudal Japan!

Both shows involve awesome sword fighting, special swords, out of this world characters, the past, humor, love, and some darkness. Both Kenshin and Inuyasha have times when they become a darker side of themselves. For Inuyasha, it's when he turns demon. For Kenshin, it's when he becomes or nearly becomes Battosai the manslayer. Both have romance, though moreso in Inuyasha. Both also have plenty of comedy. In moods they are very similar. If you like one, you will probably like the other. The enemies in both shows are supernatural. In Inuyasha, it's demons. In Kenshin, it's other strange things. The action in both is exciting. The sword battles are awesome. If you love one, you will probably love the other.

These anime have the following key aspects in common:

1. Both set in feudal Japan

2. Both have a central samurai theme (sword fights, samurai skills, war etc.)

3. Both feature nightmarish, superhuman enemies

4. Both feature a samurai struggling with his identity and past

While Rurouni Kenshin features more humour elements, the themes common to both are very strong.

Katanagatari

Katanagatari

In the wake of a rebellion that shook Japan twenty years prior, Togame Hida, general director and strategist for the army, seeks to obtain the 12 "deviant blades" created by master swordsmith Shikizaki Kiki to help add stability and security to the Bakufu government. To aid in this endeavor, she looks to enlist the help of Yasuri Mutsune, head of the Kyotou-ryu school and hero of the rebellion. But when she arrives on the island where he lives in exile, she finds him dead, succeeded by his skilled yet slightly daft son Shichika. Undeterred, the two set off from the island in search of the swords armed only with Togami's sharp strategic mind and Shichika's powerful, swordless Kyotou-ryu.

If you liked Katanagatari or Rurouni Kenshin, you'd like the other because both are set in an older setting of Japan, with fighters like samurai and ninja. They also both feature a chill protagonist who both have a unique fighting style.

The duels have the same aura there is a tactical thinking before engaging, it is not about raw power. With the weapons involved any mistep is lethal.

Characters rely on applying the right technique and/or tacticsrather than their power level.
