Give Kenshin a gun instead of a sword, and a you've got the same series. Both Kenshin and Vash come from a shady past, and have super human skills to boot. They're both hellbent on not killing, and often use simple goofiness to hide the calibur of their characters, often for hillarious results, though when pressed to a wall, both are more than capable of making their opponents regret being born.

The protagonists are very similar in many ways, with a sort of dark past they are trying to make up for, and an approach to not try and kill anyone..... you should definitely enjoy the characters and stories in both cases.

Vash and Kenshin both have a tiny problem. Everyone seems to want them dead, except for their closest friends. Trigun and Rurouni Kenshin are both very action oriented anime with a heavy dose of humor. I'm quite certain that if you like one, you'll appreciate the other.

Rurouni Kenshin and Trigun are most clearly related through their protagonists. Kenshin and Vash share a violent brand of pacifism, and the gentler side of their dual personas are distinctly 'boke' in nature - always the butt of slapstick humour. Another, less positive, link is that both series are prone to pseudo-science - losing some of the magic of the story in giving silly 'scientific' explanations.

The Kenshin TV series and Trigun are both classic anime that deserve to be watched by any otaku. The lead characters, Kenshin and Vash, both have skill in battle above and beyond anything fathomable by most. They both also have dark secrets. Both are more than they first appear to be. While the stories in these two series can be heavily dramatic and serious at times, they also have many instances of humor (especially on the part of the lead characters). Not only do the main characters mirror one another, but their "sidekicks" are quite similar as well. Wolfwood and Sanosuke are both talented fighters who don't measure up to their friends, but can beat most. These support characters are the more stoic types (Wolfwood is moreso than Sanosuke, howeve) who balance the light-hearted attitudes of the leads. The action in both shows is fun to watch, the character designs (appearance and characterization) fascinating, the plots thick, and the humor delightful. Both series have very similar story patterns and their atmospheres are very reminiscient of one another.

The themes and overall tone of Trigun and Kenshin are the same. They both portray characters to have kind hearts and vows not to kill people. Each character's story is rich and develop the same way. Added to this theme is a touch of comedy. Kenshin adds comedy by providing plenty of humorous filler episodes and Trigun succeeds by creating Vash to be this extreme baka. On the surface one might say that these two have nothing in common, but it is the stark opposite, they couldn't be more similar. I can almost guarantee that if you watched Trigun and liked it, you would also like Kenshin and vice versa. If not, you must have gone through some kind of mental unstability between watching them. ^_^

Trigun and Kenshin both have very similar lead characters in that they both can make you fall to the floor laughing one moment, and sit still with a straight face the next. If you loved the way Kenshin toys with your emotions then you should watch Trigun if you want the same feeling.

Although the settings of these two series are very different, their main characters are very much alike. Some of the supporting characters are also mirrored in these two anime. Ex: Trigun's Wolfwood and Kenshin's Sanosuke.

Throughout both of these anime Vash and Kenshin, while great fighters, are advocates of peace who despise killing. If you liked the action, comedy or even just the characters of Rurouni Kenshin, you're sure to like Trigun.

Both Kenshin and Trigun share a ruthless, murderous samurai (or a gunman in Trigun) who is well known for his past violence, despite his kind-hearted nature. Both have vowed not to kill, and use their weapons to only harm or stop wrong-doers - not to kill them. Both are recommended for action addicts.

Both Kenshin and Trigun are filled with nice action, some comedy, and even some drama. They have a very similar main character who has a dark past, has decided to never kill anyone, and is very proficient in the weapon of his choice.

Although the settings are quite different, the nature of both leading characters remains basically the same. Kenshin Himura (also known as Battusai or simply, the "Manslayer) is on a quest for attonement. Vash, known as The Human Stampede, has an obscure past as well. The similarities are just stricking. A good story, unforgetable characters and a mix of humor and strickingly serious subjects will mostly keep you interested since both series are a must-see because of their "classic" status.

On a side note, you may want not to see Rurouni Kenshin after the end of the Kioto saga, since the story deviates from the original manga, and it kinda (if not horribly) sinks.

Both series have the main character being unbelievably strong, yet they do not use their strength for show or money or power, they use it to protect those in need, to fight and stand up for the weak, with the least amount of bloodshed as possible.

Both have excellent stories to tell and great action and hilarious moments, you'll love both series!

For started Vash and Kenshin are very similar characters they both are rather notorious and don't wish to kill anyone anymore.  Beyond that they also have a very similar style in storytelling in that when the situation becomes serious the characters grow serious as well but for most of the other time they are not so serious but they end up being more adding some comedy to the situations.  If you liked one then you'll probably like the other.

Both shows also have serious moments along with light-hearted slapstick. Fans of one should enjoy the other.

In addition, they're famous shows of the 90's and a companion of the leading character carries a big ass weapon in each one of them.

The main characters Kenshin(Rurouni Kenshin) and Vash(Trigun) are so similar to one another, but distinct enough that you won't feel like the exact same story is being told.  Both characters refuse to kill and behind their goofy or gentle exterior there is the pain that comes from their past.

Inuyasha has the same principle as Rurouni Kenshin, except that Inuyasha feels a bit more fantasy than Kenshin. You have the same style. I liked both Kenshin and Inuyasha a lot but Inuyasha feels more fun sometimes, not as serious as Rurouni Kenshin. So if you want more humor and a bit more playful anime I recommend this one.

Both Kenshin and Inuyasha have fighting, romance and funny parts. The main characters in both stories are something between good and evil, yet are bent towards the good side more and more. Their reasons to turn good may differ, but the females in both stories are a great help for them. The anime take place in a somewhat medieval time and include sword fighting, as well as some unreal happenings (aka magic). If you liked one of them, you'd surely like the other one.

Both series are about good winning against evil. In InuYasha, the main character, Inuyasha is a half-demon and he fights so he can become a full-fledge demon. Along the way, he falls in love with Kagome, a reincarnation of his past love. The only bad thing about this anime is that it is a tad too long, spanning 6 seasons. And soon after, you start to get a little bored.. But it's still really nice. As for Rurouni Kenshin, aka Samurai X, it's about fighting for the good. A bit cliche at some parts, but it's still nice. It includes humour and the relationships between characters are sweet. >< Anyway, if you like Inuyasha, I think you'll like Rurouni Kenshin. Vice versa :)) Highly recommended to watch both!!

Both have their funny parts to them but know how to make the show go back to being serious very quickly. With amazing characters and an interesting enough plot check out one if you liked the other.

If you like Inuyasha, you should Check out Kenshin (visa versa). They have the same kind of Comedy, you can also see the same kind of blend of characters, Kenshin being like Inuyasha, and Kagome being like Kaoru. If you like 1, I suggest trying the other.

Both shows involve awesome sword fighting, special swords, out of this world characters, the past, humor, love, and some darkness. Both Kenshin and Inuyasha have times when they become a darker side of themselves. For Inuyasha, it's when he turns demon. For Kenshin, it's when he becomes or nearly becomes Battosai the manslayer. Both have romance, though moreso in Inuyasha. Both also have plenty of comedy. In moods they are very similar. If you like one, you will probably like the other. The enemies in both shows are supernatural. In Inuyasha, it's demons. In Kenshin, it's other strange things. The action in both is exciting. The sword battles are awesome. If you love one, you will probably love the other.

There is a good bit of sword play and levels of mastery in both which brings along some decent fight scenes. Both are enjoyable if you like that aspect. I also like that both leads have a plutonic female counterpart who they care about. You're always hoping throughout that it leads to more.

For the most common thing about anime including sword fighting scenes in every anime series such as for example Inuyasha and Ruroni Kenshin for the anime series Rurouni Kenshin however it only lasted about 95 episodes which are three seasons but for the anime series Inuyasha however it only lasted about 167 episodes compared to 3 seasons of Rurouni Kenshin also known as Samurai X  for the difference on sword size comparisons in anime between Inuyasha and Rurouni Kenshin for inuyasha's tessaiga however it was bigger than Kenshin himura's sword which is the reverse blade sword.

Samurai Deeper Kyo also tells us the story about a samurai trying to find his place in the big world. The man Kyoshiro in this series also have a split personality like Kenshin. He fights between being the man-killer Kyo and the pharmasist Kyoshiro. Both Kyo and kyoshiro wants to get separated into two bodies and get rid of one another. Samurai Deeper Kyo also contains the cute love story as we saw between Kaoru and Kenshin. Samurai Deeper Kyo is one of my favourite serie, and if you liked Kenshin you should watch Samurai Deeper Kyo.

Even though Samurai Deeper Kyo isn't as GOOD as Kenshin, it has the same entertaining aspects, such as a character fighting the "demons" within himself so they wont kill all his enemies, as well as good swordplay action. If you liked one of these, definitely give the other a try.

The epic style of both these animes also makes it likely that liking one must mean liking the other,

At first you would think that if you like Kyo or Kenshin you should see the other because, OMG they are both samurai anime!!! They do however have more similarities than that, all good ones.

The characters Kyo and Kenshin have a lot in common, and no I'm not going to say what, that is a surprise ^^. The overall feel of the anime are very similar, the animation style is similar and both are rather good anime.

If you liked Samurai Deeper Kyo or Rurouni Kenshin, I think you will like the other. Both anime have a good amount of action, sword duels and swordsmanship. Also, both of the main characters are masters in swordsmanship. So if you liked SDK you'd like Kenshin as well, or vice versa.

Not only do these two series have a strong focus on swordfighting, but the two main characters of both series both have another side to them. Kyoshiro, who hates what he becomes when he loses control, and avoids his past because of what Kyo has done, and Kenshin, who took a vow never to kill again after his former life as a legendary killer ended.

Rurouni Kenshin and Samurai Deeper Kyo have a bit similar things. Kenshin and Kyo fall for one girl who they met, they both have dual personalities and they both are great martial artists.

Rurouni Kenshin is a bit merry-going-around where everything happens in certain order but it is really pleasant to watch because it won't bore you.

Samurai Deeper Kyo is then again, not so merry-going-around. But then again it is not boring either because some plot changes are stunning.

Obviously both are about Samurai. They have some action, but they are also very story-oriented series. I think it takes both of them a little while to really get going and get good, but they do. Both of the main characters have 2 personalities within them- that are extremely opposite. Each of them have awesome, powerful main characters, that are unseemingly capable of kicking butt.

Both characters wil only draw their sword for others and have altered personalities. And both anime contain romance scenes between the main female and male characters.

They both feature a female protagonist and love interest for the main samurai who is a capable fighter in her own right. Kenshin and Kurogane are both based on the same historical facts, yet in Kenshin we side with the Imperialists and in Peace Maker with the Shinsengumi. The environment is thus very alike, as well as the entire mood. The main difference is that Kenshin is more action-based, while Kurogane has a stronger story.

Kenshin and Peace Maker are quite similar. I think the character design and the way characters grow are quite alike. The main character in Peace Maker, however I am not comparing to Himura from Kenshin, I think he's a lot more like Sanosuke and Yahiko, as far as drive and determination. Both shows have a nice touch of humor, but Peace Maker I feel is more realistic and more serious for the most part.

Because it is really interesting to see two different takes on the same period of history. While Kenshin takes place after Kurogane, some of the characters (Such as Saitao Hajime) are the different versions of the same historical people. Kenshin also sometimes has flash backs to the time in which PeaceMaker Kurogane takes place.

Both Peace Maker and Kenshin contain elements of the same time period and story. Both stories deal with Japan and the time of the Meiji revolution. Peace Maker deals with the actual revolution while Kenshin deals with the era directly after the revolution. If you liked the characters in Peace Maker you will find the characters in Kenshin just as enjoyable, and vice versa.

If you are the type that likes anime with a samurai main character, then you would like PMK and Kenshin.  

In both you will find a mixture of sadness and happiness; the characters have sad pasts but also bright presents, and each has a main character that is always surrounded by people who helps him to discover himself and change for the better. While the star of Kurogane is younger, and his challenges not at the level of Kenshin's main character, both are equally compelling narratives.

Rurouni Kenshin and Peace Maker Kurogane both take place in the same time period. Both main characters look young for their age, and have a goofy side to them. However, they both have a past that they can't forget. Although each has their own motive, both characters push towards their goals. The story line follows their journey as they find new companions, and eventually come to realize what they truly want. If you liked the action-comedy combination in one, you'd like the other as well.

If you liked "Rurouni Kenshin," it stands to reason that you'd enjoy "Peace Maker," too. They're both historical fiction, set near the same time. "Peacemaker" is a little more contemporary, but they both have extremely comedic and serious aspects.

People might even recognize different historical figures from both anime, such as Saito Hajime.

Pretty obvious recommendation. Both set in the feudal type era, both have male lead (young man in RK and young boy in PMK) that fights with the idea of killing anyone... yet fights in battle. The moral of both anime's even seems similar. The relationships created between characters and even the moments of comic relief.

Both of these shows deal with great sword fights, main characters who swear not to kill, and a sometimes dark but sometimes humorous mood. Both animes have main characters facing a struggle within themselves because of past events and the struggle over wanting to protect people with their sword but not wanting to kill. The biggest difference is the fact that during the revolution, they fought on opposite sides. Though Kenshin occurs over ten years later, he is still on the imperealist side.

If you like the sword fights in Rurouni Kenshin, check out Bleach. It has a similar samurai-themed approach but is set in the present time. It stretches more to the fantasy/cool side as compared to RK (like in the latter part of the series involving feng shui), but the fight scenes are clearly inspired.

If you watched either one and cant get enough you can always watch the other one. Both are unique animes which specialises in their awesome swordplays. To top that up, their plot also makes it intresting to follow together with the amazing battles sending chills to the spine.

Both of these anime has sword fights, comedy, romance, fiction and cool hair! (Couldn't help it)! Each anime has a main character who fights to protect with a sword, and i think that is probably the most important thing they both share.

If you're one of those people who enjoyed the anime as a whole for evertything about it, then this anime is also a must watch for you as they have many of the same qualities in them.

This series is about swordplay and a villian, just like Bleach. The main character here isn't like Ichigo. He is calm with a touch of humor when he wants to show it and serious when he needs to be. Ichigo in some ways becomes serious when he needs to, which links these two together. Overall, this is an excellent anime that will catch your attention quickly!

in bleach as in rorouni kenshin the hero is a reluctant one who is an amazing swordsman the only difference is the enemies as kenshins is usualy other man slayers while ichigo's are evil sprits they also have a hidden identity of which they can't escape ichigo is a soal reaper (shinigami) and kenshin is known as the legendary himora the batosai a man slayer who kills all in his path with the hiten mitsurugi sword style they both end up using their skills to save their loved ones they are both just great anime's to watch

They are done in the same style, and both anime add some nice music to the fights which draw you in even more. Champloo is more about the characters than about a story, but Kenshin also has some nice character development, using flashbacks at the right moments.

Both Champloo and Kenshin are set in traditional historical settings and feature a skilled protagonist facing corruption, personal crises, and must overcome many combat-related roadblocks in order to achieve success. Champloo has a slightly modern feel to it, while Kenshin is swamped with nostalgic scenery. There are many similarities one can draw from these two series par the obvious samurai/action theme. Although most characters in each are sword wielding men, the way in which they fight is highly unique, styles intertwined with another fighting technique. Both provide depth to the central characters though the use of a female medium and the ties/bonds that are developed over time as well as the unwitting desire to protect others - for self gain or otherwise. If it was indeed these aspects of the series which you enjoyed, than I recommend you seek this in the other.

Both Rurouni Kenshin and Samurai Champloo really appealed to my husband who loves stories about samurai and their adventures. In fact these are the only two anime shows to date that he wants to purchase and I am not going to complain ;-)

Both of them have mysterious origins, and sides to them that often end up hurting them in the long-run. It's obvious that both series are enjoyable especially for samurai lovers. But that's not the only similar point. Both series are very funny and can also provide you a little info about japanese history. Both main female characters Fuu (from S.Ch.) and Kaoru (from R.K.) are strong, open and brave ladies. The main male characters are very skilled in martial arts and they are almost invincible. They just have different view on human life. While Kenshin tries to avoid killing (after all, RK takes place in peaceful Meiji era), Mugen and Jin from S.Ch. don't hesitate to kill someone even if it's not necessary^^..I'm sure that if you liked one, you'd like the other.

Rurouni Kenshin and Basilisk are both similar in that they take place in a time when peace is just beyond the horizon.  Tension is still high and certain people aim to seek vengeance.  Two skilled samurai, Kouga and Kenshin, believe in the new era and peace that lie ahead.  They are forced to fight regardless of their beliefs and slaughter the other clan.  Political change is happening and as a result Kouga is forced to fight incredibly tough opponents and same for Kenshin.  Bloodshed and sweet samurai fights with hint of romance, if you liked one, watch the other.

Kenshin and Black Cat are each set around a main character who was originally a cold assassin but changed his ways and decided not to kill again, becoming a seemingly innocent hero-type. Both heroes try to keep a low profile, but their pasts inevitably catch up with them. The plots really do progress in eerily similar fashion, eventually pitting the hero and his small group of allies against a nemesis and his personal army. Although, with Kenshin being a long-running series it is somewhat drawn out, whereas Black Cat feels somewhat rushed towards the end. Kenshin is also a fair bit more mature, but if you liked one of these shows the other is certainly worth a look.

Using the standard military weapon of their respective ages with amazing skill as assassins, both go through experiences with women who change them and their desire for direction in life as the best path to better the world. Redirecting their skills away from killing, the two show even more prowess, as they battle to stay alive while showing their enemies the same courteousy.

They both revolve around the protection of communities and require a great leader as well as the kindness of those who desire protection - with an added twist of humour. Although their stories are different they are about samurai who protect the innocent and go to great lengths to strengthen their bodies, minds, and souls in order to protect the ones they love. They are both mainly about action but you can find a very healthy dose of comedy and romance in both of these anime. They also feature samurai vs. (ex)samurai and samurai vs. men with guns which show just how hardcore the main characters can be at times... over all id say if you like sword fighting animes these are some must see and if you like action in general i can say you will probably like these as well.

I enjoyed Kenshin alot but when I saw Naruto I was blown away. By the end of Kenshin the series I couldent belive he never really hacked some people to peices or beat some butt instead of looking like a little bitch half the time. In Naruto there are fight sequences like Kenshin but instead of everyone happily living the majority of the time people get stabbed and killed ninja style. This series shows ninja tecniqes comparible to magic teck such as replicaton and elemental control. If you have a strong love for Kenshin then you will greatly appreciate Naruto. It does start a little slow building up story but at least watch through episode 24 and you will be plesantly suprized.

Samurai and ninja-themed stories seem to go hand-in-hand, so give Naruto a try. Naruto is about ninjas and is set against a modern-medieval timeline, with a lot of fighting using ninja tools (shuriken, kyunai, etc) and ninja techniques as opposed to swords/blades with Rurouni Kenshin.

There's plenty of comedy and intrigue to go along as well, and you'll find there're plenty of characters to root for.

If you enjoy action series that do not forget matters of the heart, emotions, and character development AND you enjoy stories with a central male figure that has a nobel character to protect the weak... then you have to see Naruto.  It has a rocky start, but then the show kicks it into high gear.  In other words, if you like Rurouni Kenshin, you GOT to see Naruto!
