Now, as a teenager, Kanji runs errands for his perverted father who runs Dog Run, a talent agency. Their top star is an idol named Shinju Momono, but she has a secret: as a teenager, she had her mother raise her young daughter until she could support the girl; and now that Shinju is famous, she can! There's just one catch: Shinju's daughter is none other than Tamako! She hasn’t forgotten the promise they made, and has become much stronger – to the point of looking and acting like a boy – to win over her Kanji. What’s worse, Shinju must keep her daughter a secret to protect her public image, so Tamako moves in with Kanji's household instead. Will Kanji ever warm to this boyish, 'monkey girl's advances?

World Map Room

World Map Room

The events within the narrative are spare and enigmatic: Yokoyama is as much fascinated by shapes and visual effects as he is by character and plot. First, the protagonists visit a city; then, our heroes watch airplanes departing and arriving at an airport; next, they go on board a ship and cross a river. Eventually, they arrive at a building where a man welcomes and guides them to the “world map room,” where they inspect a library. Eventually they leave, and reach a pond with a sunken ship. Their guide starts to explain the ship’s history, and slowly, with casual suddenness, the novel comes to a close.

Tenkousaki no Seiso Karen na Bishoujo ga, Mukashi Danshi to Omotte Issho ni Asonda Osananajimi datta Ken (Light Novel)

At the end of a summer when Hayato was a child, he made a promise to his precious (male) friend. 7 years later, Hayato transferred to a high school in the city and met his childhood friend again, who had become a... neat and pretty girl! Haruki, known as The Takamine Flower of her class, smiles innocently at Hayato with the face of a brat when they are alone, trades lunches in empty classrooms, plays games together at home… But she turns red when he makes fun of her and treats her like a girl. It’s cute. The country and the city, the boy and the girl, the grown-up mind and body. If there are things that have changed while they were apart, there are also feelings and promises that have yet to be changed.

New Engineering

New Engineering

This first U.S. book on Yokoyama's work combines two of the artist's central themes: fighting and building. One set of graphic stories, Public Works, details massive structures being erected across a landscape. Plot is pushed aside in favor of sheer formal verve as we watch buildings, about which we know nothing, come into being.
