Red Ash? More like Red TRASH

This short managed to make me angry because of how good its animations are. While the aesthetic is nothing particularly striking, the art style, the animations and even the direction are all incredible. Fluid and unique with a real sense of how everything moves and feels. The special effects look incredible and while the facial animations are average the way the characters expressively move during the dialogue scenes is engaging. 

Sadly all of that is on top of one of the worst scripts I have ever seen. I could honestly complain about every single aspect:  premise, dialogue, pacing, editing, characterization, how characters are introduced, and the lack of any real payoff in the whole thing which ends up making it feel worthless. Anything that could go wrong in a script, went wrong here. It's also so incredibly predictable that I swear I can already guess the twists in the series that they wanted to write as a sequel but never got.

You will enjoy this short better if you turn off the subs and just look at the pretty visuals. Because as it is now the difference in quality between the look of the show and script quality is actually infuriating. 

Save yourself the bother, and don't watch it..

Don't get me wrong, it' not a terrible "film" to watch. But it is short; and it does have that "this is probably an advert more than a story" feel to it; and it does have that annoying "story doest finish here, lol" thing to put up with. So, I di a little research, and it seems Red Ash is from some game called Red Ash: The Indelible Legend so maybe the cliffhanger is supposed to be a lead into the game -cough- advert -cough- but who knows really. Could just be they ran out of money in the first act of the film, and cut it short..

The film short finishes with a cheap cliff-hanger (it literally just stamps "to be continued..." at the end) and looking back on it has little actual content. There's an aside to a missing character, a stow-away, a car-chase, and very little explanation as to what is happening, and why.

I gave it two stars coz it had potential. It idn't really live up to it in this short film, but maybe they'll scrounge up enough cash to continue.

Two groups: pure ones and everyone else. 

Those with power fill a need to constantly remind everyone else how worthless they are. 

Stories like these may always be valued and the messages they teach important, but there is a point where the viewer gets tired of the same old thing.

Yes, exclusion is bad.

Yes, basing status on blood can be idiotic. 

Yes, fighting for rights should be done. Yes, finding and making friends is valuable. 

Yes, young people are the future. 

Yes, the grass is always greener. 

Yes protecting ideas can and often is dangerous. 

What else is on?

Throwing in some snazzy tech wasn't enough to make this high or medium on the rewatch list. It's not even enough to make this reviewer recommend watching this to anyone who has yet to come across this title.

Side Note: Even the tagline has me putting a sequel on the back burner - if it ever gets one.

Find something more worthwhile to watch. That's my recommendation and the conclusion of my review.

There´s not really much to say about this. It´s short, the premise is there for no apparent reason besides to have something more to show than the badly written characters. The whole thing is kinda boring and the ending didn´t really conclude anything. I really wouldn´t recommend watching this.

Story

There isn´t really much of a story, in the beginning the viewer is told a little about the world, and the rest of the anime is essentially just a chase scene. There were a couple of things that made it seem like there was more to the story, but it´s never really expanded on. 

Animation

The characters kinda look like they´re made of clay, but not really. It just looks really weird. The backrounds look quite nice but the characters seem out of place. I wouldn´t say it´s bad, just weird.

Sound

I´m not that good at judging that, but everything seemed fine to me.

Characters

The characters seem really flat and all seemed to be defined by one characteristic.
