That's a awesome anime movies. War, challenging to fly himself 12 000 kilometres to transport one princess girl to the prince. Same as Last Exile, it has a princess who flew with her new friend Fam and Giselle. If you watch this, you can't never forget.

Yes, both anime are about pilots, but there's more to them than that. Both the main characters in Last Exile and Recollections of a Certain Pilot share the same dangerous mission - protecting and delivering a girl of great importance. If you like battles in the sky, political troubles, and/or dire situations, you'll want to check out both of these titles.

A pilot (couriers and mercenaries) is tasked with delivering a girl of high status by traversing a long distance while avoiding being gunned by the flying battleships that flood the sky amidst a war. Instances of racism and xenophobia are depicted.

What Recollections of a Certain Pilot and Sky Crawlers share is, aviation, planes based on WWII designs and stunning visuals. The first movie is shorter than the second one and contains far less airborne combat scenes, but both of them have an interesting plot. If you liked one of those movies, you have to watche the other one as well.

AndriasSch AndriasSch says...

These movies are based on Light Novels and depict a pilot working as a mercenary to earn a living due to their birth circumstances. Both are piloting planes based on models from the late II World War, but the setting in their respective worlds is alternative, portraying fictitious nations. The CGI aerobatics in both have great legibility and cadence.

The Cockpit

The Cockpit

The Cockpit tells three different tales from the second world war, bound together by the madness of war --and airplanes. In the the first tale, a German pilot is forced to choose between his duty and his soul; the second is a tragic tale of a Japanese kamikaze pilot who welcomes death; and finally, the third tale revolves around two Japanese ground troopers in the Philippines who are racing towards an airbase that might already be under enemy control.

But when she arrives on the island where he lives in exile, she finds him dead, succeeded by his skilled yet slightly daft son Shichika. Katanagatari, a lengthy series and Recollections of a Cerain Pilot, a movie, are two surprisingly similar masterpieces. Both involve a 'princess' (who doesn't always behave like royalty) having to rely on a warrior for his unmatched abilities. Also both anime feature a relationship developing between the two protagonists but if I talk about this any further I'll b-

Recollections of a Certain Pilot and Hotarubi no Mori e may not look it, but they are certaintly similar when it comes to their characters. Two characters meet and bond, but in the end, will they be able to stay together? Both movies are very bittersweet and contain beautiful animation, and the main focus is the relationship between the two main characters. Although they may be different in genre and setting, don't be fooled; if you enjoyed the character bonding in Recollections of a Certain Pilot or Hotarubi no Mori, you will definitely want to check out the other.

The plot has to do with the pilot being a bit unusual and being tasked with a mission where he has to fly a new model. There are planes based on the Kyushu J7W Shinden in both movies. The relationship between the main characters doesn't necessarily take the romance route.
