REC (the original series) was a series about a young actress named Aka Onda. She meets a man named Fumihiko Matsumaru at a reshowing of an old Audrey Hepburn movie. Aka's apartment catches fire, and she looses everything. Fumihiko offers her his couch and they live together for a while. Meanwhile, the two form a relationship. Fumihiko creates an advertising icon named cat tree, and Aka provides its voice.  This is a very sweet, romantic tearjerker anime. The special was actually more like a 7th episode to the six episode series, and released online only. The characters are very sweet and endearing; you really want them to get together and have a relationship. The story is warm and heart-wrenching.  In the special, things hit a few bumps when Aka discovers Fumihiko on a business meeting with a co-worker named Tanaka. Tanaka likes Fumihiko as well.
