ACrankyOldMan ACrankyOldMan says...

The series seems to be going in the direction of solving short mystery stories about unexplainable situations called adolescent syndrome. Show really reminds me of the Monogatari series where the main protagonist, Araragi, tries to support his friends in overcoming their inner demons. Funny enough, the interactions between the bunny girl, Mai, and the main protagonist, Sakuta, resembles the interactions between Araragi and Senjougahara.

mindlord0013 mindlord0013 says...

A modern world with a subtle, surreal supernatural tone.

Both shows focus on short arcs that last a few episodes, focusing on the supernatural problems of a particular individual in a very grounded manner. These problems are based off folklore in the Monogatari series (Phoenix, Monkey's Paw), or phrase a phrase or concept in Bunny Girl Senpai (Schrodinger's Cat was the first arc).

Additionally, the female love interests share some very similar traits.

Both series are visually well done, though Monogatari can get quite surreal and abstract.

Rascal Rascal says...

Both series center around a boy who deals with mysterious goings-on surrounding other adolescents in and around where he lives. The two have similarly witty dialogue and banter between the mains, and similar characterizations in the leads. If you like monogatari's swagger you'll like Rascal's, but be aware they don't have similar visual styles.

LupusInFabula LupusInFabula says...

Very similar vibe and general plot structure. Bake is a bit more intense, for lack of a better term, whereas bunnygirl feels a bit more lax.

Grizz Grizz says...

If you liked this, then you will probably enjoy this too. As they both feature supernatural driven plots with witty character interactions.

frp frp says...

Same structure, many similarities. Seishun butayarou is "lighter", Bakemonogatari is "heavier".

RetardedHyena RetardedHyena says...

Guy solving supernatural problems that affect possible date candidates.

Both series got a main girl as well.

DreamsAndIllusions DreamsAndIllusions says...

Essentially, both animes are about cool MC who go around helping various girls and their supernatural problems. The only difference is Monogatari is a long series with a lot of lore and is dialogue heavy, not that that is a problem however.

kazas41 kazas41 says...

  • Some strange and unnatural circumstances revolve around simple, everyday characters.
  • The dialogues form a crutual information base for the plot.

Raveena02 Raveena02 says...

Both feature a similar main character who have a common tendency to help others in need.

Share a similar sense of humour with good balance of serious moments too.

Both link the supernatural  to problems faced by people

8MangaMan 8MangaMan says...

Both these anime share a similar structure.  They each start with the main character who comes off as someone who keeps to themselves.  One day they meet a strange girl suffering from some impossible to believe problem.  Due to also having experienced something similar, our otherwise loners decide to lend a helping hand and try to fix their problems.  This continues throughout each anime with a new character and a new problem showing up right after the last has resolved.

If watching a strange man solve problems for cute girls is to your liking, I think you'll enjoy the other as well.

Jaimefm Jaimefm says...

Both center around a male main character that helps female characters solve supernatural mysteries that are causing them problems. The main girl in both was someone that was helped by the main character before starting a relationship. The interactions between the love interests are really similar in both as well. Rascal is a bit more loud get and wholesome while Bakemonogatari is more heavy and toes the lines in certain aspects.

G4tsu G4tsu says...

You have the same atmosphere in both anime. All the characters are likable and get emotionally attached to them really fast.

jiexi20 jiexi20 says...

Rascal Does not dream of bunny girl senpai and this anime both are comedy and supernatural and solve mysteries.

PommesKrake PommesKrake says...

Both shows are quite similar regarding concept and tone, the chemistry between the protagonist and the love interest are also very similar. The biggest difference: Bakemonogatari has a much more surreal style than Bunnygirl Senpai.

Sybille Sybille says...

There's a little controversy between these two as they're SO similar, but keeping that apart, they both are about the main character solving supernatural issues that happen to the people that surround them. In terms of art style, Bakemonogatari is one of a kind; don't feel bad if you don't like it, its not everyone's cup of tea. Talking romance, Bunny Girl Senpai offers a lot more cute and couple scenes than Bakemonogatari but certainly the last one doesn't fall behind.

Kokoro Connect

8chi 8chi says...

The same kind of strange phenomena happens to the characters in both anime. While kokoro connect revolves around a group of friends, Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai seems to focus on a main duo. The characters in both stories grow and get to know each other as well as themselves better.

FullmetalDragon FullmetalDragon says...

These shows have almost identical premises, with the same kind of story structure where one 'power' is given a few episodes to play out and then the next one is shown.

Bubbas Bubbas says...

Similar conflicts involving paranormal stuff. Like body-swaping and disapperance. Both also have young protagonists.

captivus captivus says...

Paranormal phenomena with romantic subplots ... and I can't really say which one is better. What I can say for sure is that if you liked one you'll almost certainly like the other.

CypherConjured CypherConjured says...

This is a good recomendation going either way. There's drama, there's cute, there's funny. If you watch one, and you need more, definitely watch the other.

mastertraps mastertraps says...

Both have overall themes of friends bonds strengthening through almost supernatural events. Plus they're both just really good shows.

Leahchu Leahchu says...

Both shows are extremely character-focused. Each hint of supernatural phenomenons shrounded in mystery. The MC is tasked with figuring out the reason these phenomenon are occuring and stopping them from happening again. Once one is completed, another will crop up in his place. Friendship and young love also feature in both, and as a warning for those that dislike them, a love triangle forms in both as well.

MIRAIII000 MIRAIII000 says...

they are both similar with sudden irregular symptoms as they experience them during their high school life to bond. the only difference is that Kokoro Connect involved more of the five people's friendship and Bunny girl focused a lot on the romance part.

bksupersonic10 bksupersonic10 says...

An interesting supernatural plot, teens in high school, and some love triangles. I think that these two anime would be good recommendations for anyone who likes the other.

Emmadelaney Emmadelaney says...

I think they're similar in how they have complex characters dealing with whatever their trauma is in a (not by choice~.~) supernatural way. Both animes have these teens juggling their personal and school lives and yeah idk hehe I thoroughly enjoyed both of them! Between the pretty animations, soundtracks, and likable characters, I think if you liked one of these you should give the other a watch, uh yeah

Grizz Grizz says...

If you liked this, then you will probably enjoy this too. As they both feature groups of friends encountering supernatural phenomenon.

Rascal Rascal says...

Lots of sarcasm, lots of banter between the lead pair, plenty of drama and warmth in equal measure when all is said and done, but some really down-to-earth representations of trope-ical characters.

iLive4Anime iLive4Anime says...

Well I think they are both similar a little. Both leads kind of have to same aspect I guess. Sorry if you don't agree, but they are both are great animes so yeah. Also My Teen Romantic Comedy SANFU is not really a romance anime per say.

Both series have a very similar vibe, with a very similar dynamic between the main characters, despite them being distinct in their own ways.

Moedred Moedred says...

Oregairu+supernatural=Bunny-girl SenpaiAtmosphere is pretty simmilar, characters are alike and not olny Physicaly as Mai is Yukino, Tomoe is in a way like Yui. I think if you like one anime you will most likely love other one. and both anime are good.

OratioFidelis OratioFidelis says...

Bunny Girl Senpai is basically "Yukino and Hachiman from Oregairu SNAFU go on Haruhi-esque adventures"

keknight keknight says...

Sakuta Azusagawa will remind you of Hachinan Hikigaya, they both have this dark-ish and dismissal for keeping appearences.

and

Mai Sakurajima will remind you of Yukino Yukinoshita, they both have this cold personality but will show some really cute expressions or gestures when cornered.

Sakuta is always the guy that ends up having to help or fix things just like Hachiman does. Of course they each deal with their unique problems and events in their own way.

If you like the overall aura and feel of the story and characters these series are a good way to relive that experience with a whole new show and characters.

AnimePlug AnimePlug says...

Very similar, SNAFU is a really good watch as it has the same kind of concept, they are both very good watches and I would reccoment both!

8MangaMan 8MangaMan says...

Both these anime have two huge simmilarities that stick out to me.  One is their main character.  Sakuta and Hachiman both come off as huge cynical pessimists.  Neither think highly of their fellow studenty body and rather not "join the flow" that is an average social quo.

While they each grow and learn, it leads to the second bigest similarity to me, the animes message on relationships and relying on others.   While Sakuta starts the series off with a very proud 2 friends while Hachiman is all alone, they learn to open up, accept help, and start to enjoy having others to socialize with along with all the drama said relationships can bring.

If you enjoyed these traits in one of these anime, I'm sure you could enjoy the other.

Hakali Hakali says...

Both shows have a similar vibe and atmosphere, similar characters and the same problem solving "plot" idea... The one big difference between these two shows is that SNAFU doesn't have any supernatural elements.

Both deal with supernatural occurances within a high school setting. Both are highly character-driven and have likeable leads. Haruhi goes more of a comedy route while Rascal is about an equal mix of comedy and romance.

both are titles and images which would raise many questions for people who don't know about that side of anime, especially your parents or the sheltered conservative Christian girl you probably met at least once in your life. You probably shouldn't be very interested if you are in the pursuit of virtue, although there are much worse directions you could take, such as h3nta!, "aga gap"(p3d0) BL, and stuff involving monster girls.. don't try to act like they're not s3xval!z3d, you know they are. come to think of it, i highly recommend these two anime series if you're looking to stay on the straight and narrow, like me.

Did you want an anime that had a similar vibe like Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai? Well, if you did then you should definitely watch Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches. I'll tell you about the similarities and differences about these two animes. They're both similar in that they have a protagonist who is surrounded by girls, but they aren't just any simple girls, they're all girls who are troubled and have supernatural things happening to them because of that. The protagonists in both animes try to solve their problems or end up having to solve their problems because they're "special" and gets dragged into their (the girls) problems. They both have a girl who is "invisible", and also a girl who can see the "future". Even though these two animes are very similar they both do have a difference or two or a lot more. They're different in a way where the first girl to meet have different "powers", one with invisibility and the other one is body-swapping. Another difference is that once trouble is solved in Bunny Girl Senpai they lose their "powers", which seems more like curses being lifted. While in Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches, they (girls) don't neccessarily lose their powers.

stardrop stardrop says...

Both shows explore the same supernatural powers/concepts. Rascal approaches it as quantum mechanics, and Yamada approaches it as magic, which really are both the same thing, huh?
