This anime rocked lol! The characters were cute, so very much adorable...! I wasn't really pleased with the ending tho.

Start: How it starts: It was a bit too hard for me to understand, but to be honest, this anime is the first, stand-alone, unique mystery/detective one. Each episode made its own uniqueness in mystery case solving.

End: I really didn't like the way it ended; I wanted both the pair, Kobayashi & Hashiba (finally remembered his name) they did so, but as for the other two, Akechi and Namikoshi to be together too. Exactly, I understood and even felt Akechi's pain in the heart for losing his best friend (just like hashiba)  As for me, I didn't really dislike Namikoshi's plan. But basically, that would be seen as a motivation for suicide.

However, it went exactly how the creator/or whatever, wanted. So, even if Namikoshi is still alive, this would be wonderful. We all namikoshi's fans would love it.

I liked the opening theme's music, while the ending song full. Nice anime, good theory and stating of friendship. As well as the mystery and detective games were all beautifully designed and perfectly factored. :) recommended for detective/mystery and BL fans~

Overall:

Let me start by saying that is anime started with a very nice hook, the animation was good, charectors were unclear and very mysterious and never you never get the chance to know them (after all, thats normal for a first episode) so we expected it to get better later on, right? not really. As the story moves forward it is unclear on why some of the actions were taken by many of the charactors, the plot introduces a few intersting characters, but drop them off the next episode so  its hard to know who to focus on. While the story focues on the main character who could not look and sound very girly, there is so much lack of support to his mentality and course of actions and background story, he is just "bored" which doesnt explain alot. there is also the teenage decteive who could not be anymore cliche, with the mysterious and cold attitude towards people who are trying to help or join him and likes to be alone.

The anime seems to throw its style very quickly that many viewers might think its too much or its trying to flaunt on what it can do and try to throw the viewers in the hooked area too quickly with no room to soak in everyine (charaters, anime style, plot..etc.)

This anime will leave you with more questions than answers, the ending will not be clear and will consist of multiple actions scenes that will make you wonder "why? whats the point of this?" the logic behind the plot is completely lacking any actual reason and common sense.

    Strenght points:

        1-style of anime

        2- sound

        3- great potential at first

   Weakness points:

        1-plot holes

        2- no character development all

3- ruins the potential it had by episode 4/5

        4- rushed story

5- unclear and more questions even after it ended

The animation is pretty good and music enjoyable. Random cases of mystery and crime. It's played for the most part as a dark comedy (but it not actually funny. A lot of the mysteries take part over two episodes. And the minor characters carry over throughout the series.

Where it really falls down on is the completely unlikeable main characters. One is a sarcastic, jaded, "too cool genius" detective. He is lacking in social skills but not in an endearing cute way. Halfway thru he finally shares his back story, but it doesn't make him any more likeable. It feels like he's just reciting facts, there's no emotion or angst.

Second main character is a sadistical, creepy little kid (13) that is incredibly bored with life. However its pretty obvious that he's sheltered. I can't agree with children that are bored because they haven't lived or experimented with anything. Dude: travel, play music, do art, poetry, dance, rock climbing, animals, read, cook, knit, pottery, science, list goes on.  For example as soon as he's exposed to a cat and math, he immediately perks up. So really he not bored, just hasn't tried to do anything besides schoolwork......... And for all the reviewers who can't understand his love for girl clothes: he's gender fluid. It's super obvious and I shouldn't even have to explain that.

His best friend is a goody two shoe, brown noser that is overly worried about everything. None of them appealing or have any major redeeming qualities. I don't mind "evil" characters, but if they're bland and uninteresting it ruins an otherwise good story. The actual villian who could have been interesting isnt introduced untill the last two episodes and by then its way too late to go into who he is.

I personally really liked this anime. A lot of people dislike it, but I found it to be really cool in a twisted way. It reminded me of higurashi (which is also very good) in a way. Edogawa Ranpo was also a very good writer. He inspired this anime and "Trickster" which was also very good. He himself has also influenced characters in anime.

It was pretty decent.

certainly wasn't as bad as a lot of these reviews say.

I genuinely loved some of the characters and the gore and such , finished it in a day
