Both Muteki Kanban Musume and Shinobuden are random comedies.

While the jokes in Shinobuden are somewhat dirty compared to Muteki Kanban Musume, both shows are somewhat of a slapstick comedy and have "over the top" behaviour for the characters.

Both series have the same format too: there are two separate segments for each episode.

XMrNiceguyX XMrNiceguyX says...

Ninja Nonsense and Muteki Kanban Musume have a lot in common, except for their settings. The characters in both series are equally weird and can hardly be called characters due to what little background story we are told about them. The series focus more on slapstick humor.

If you are a sucker for crazy slapstick humor and are not too interested in actually seeing some character development, these series will be great.

cassiesheepgirl cassiesheepgirl says...

While it's alluded to in the title of Ninja Nonsense, if you like mental and nearly idiotic comedy then both of these series are for you. Both have random violence and have a definite over the top feeling about them. If you liked one, then definitely check out the other!

AnimeAllen AnimeAllen says...

Muteki Kanban Musume and Ninja Nonsense are both very alike in the ways of randomness and comedy. They both have two short episodes in one and both share the same mood and feel. Although, I would say that Ninja Nonsense is a bit more crazy and random than Muteki Kanban Musume!

If you liked Muteki Kanban Musume and would like more focus on the actual food part, without losing too much slapstick and gaining some extra character development, Yakitate!! Japan would be a nice follow up. If you on the other hand like Yakitate!! Japan, but are looking for a somewhat similar concept with some more slapstick, I can recommend you Muteki Kanban Musume as well.

seasong seasong says...

Both these animes center around the food industry. They are both humorous with a sarcastic portrayal of adults and competition. If you thought one was amusing, you will laugh through the other as well.

chii chii says...

Both anime take on the food aspect of life and make it hilarious. Weather it's making bread in Yakitate Japan or noodles in Muteki Kanban Musume both are sure to make you laugh! Check one out if you liked the other.

Two hilarious shows with the delicious premise of FOOD! If you liked the competitive spirit and over-the-top reactions in one of these shows, be sure to check out the other to satisfy your appetite.

Excel Saga

Excel Saga

F City, F Prefecture: the battleground where good and evil have finally chosen to decide once and for all who will rule the world…or at least that's the general idea! Neither side seems up for the task, as surviving the brutality of everyday life is enough of a chore. On the side of evil is the organization of Across, its only member the loudmouthed and abrasive Excel who struggles just to put food in her stomach; on the side of good, three disenfranchised, unemployed bachelors whose only pursuit in life is romance. Add in alien invasions, jungle warfare, and Mexican immigrant laborers to Japan, and this war doesn't seem likely to be ending soon!

Both series are about absolutely nothing. If you like slapstick humor, these are the series for you. The main difference between the two is that while Muteki Kanban Musume seems to have some sort of story, Excel Saga has none and can be described as more random.

Aside from their premises, the characters (Miki and Excel from, respectively, Muteki Kanban Musume and Excel Saga) show a lot of similar characteristics.

Damaged Damaged says...

Holy hyperactive characters! When I see Miki in action, the first character that comes to mind is Excel and vice versa. Both of these anime seem very fitting of each other in their random yet fun humor and the consistant use of slapstick comedy. Both Excel and Miki suffer from extreme attention span issues witch makes for similar situations (be it Illpalazo and his floor traps with Excel or Miki's mother pummeling her into a wall). Also, both anime seem to have a slight underlining plot, but its not really that relevant to how the show progresses.

x5ga x5ga says...

Both series pay almost zero attention to a 'main plot'. Also, everything is random, nonsense but extremely funny. If you enjoy an anime that tries to do everything possible to be funny in a sort of violent (especially MKM) and random (especially Excel Saga) way, I recommend you watch both. Also, if you liked the comedy style in one of them, you will most likely enjoy the other.

sothis sothis says...

Muteki and Excel Saga are both over-the-top, high-octane series with extreme comedic appearance changes and hard-to-follow randomness. Plenty of action accompanies both titles as well, plus some pretty abrasive and aggravating main characters. I didn't like either of these, but fans of one will probably appreciate the other.

Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu

Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu

Muteki Kanban Musume and Fumoffu are similar in that each uses a very slapstick style of comedy filled with both over-the-top violence and sheer randomness. Fumoffu is a bit more sophisticated, with inklings of romance and characters that have development beyond "violent nutcase", but if you enjoy the style of comedy, either of these series should make for a solid choice.

Full metal panic? Fumoffu and Muteki kanban musume are hilarious. Things just happen and you just start laughing like a maniac. Cute girls and Random violence are the ingredients to a great comedy.

Dokuro-chan and Muteki both have over-the-top, mindless cartoon violence with all the depth and complexity of a Tom and Jerry episode. Sometimes that's all you need.

I liked Dokuro-chan WAY more than Musume, but both are over-the-top, action-packed random fests that will likely appeal to the same fans.

Gintama

Gintama

In Gintoki's Japan, the arrival of the various space races known collectively as the Amanto ended the era of the samurai. The Amanto's highly advanced technology resulted in total conquest and a severe economic shift. Now, former samurai such as Gintoki scrape together whatever livelihood they can. Gintoki's profession of choice is that of a yorozuya: he'll complete any job for money. However, he’s unmotivated; and spending most of the day on the couch with the latest issue of Jump and a carton of Strawberry Milk is his preferred pastime. It turns out that his new unpaid employees, Shinpachi and Kagura, are going to interfere with his pastime even more than with his "work"! Of course, none of this means he has really given up on his samurai ideologies!

Spoofs of lots of different anime and stupid faces. A lot of funny random outburst. It's a great find for any Jump fans.

XMrNiceguyX XMrNiceguyX says...

Just like Ramen Fighter Miki, the style of humor is extremely similar in Gintama. Recurring, over the top characters are plentiful in both shows and where Ramen Fighter Miki is focused around cooking and set in a more modern (albeit just like Gintama in a "traditional Japanese" setting), the shows are similar in their focus on the mundane. Indeed, the occupation of Gintama's main characters is an odd-job company rather than a more serious occupation.

If you enjoy nutty and random humor, you will like either series. Be slightly cautioned of differences, one of which is the number of episodes. Gintama spans many episodes, which makes for somewhat more longwinded episodes as compared to the adrenaline filled series that is Ramen Fighter Miki. Additionally, the main character in Ramen Fighter Miki is female, while the main character in Gintama is male and as a result, the jokes in either series are made with somewhat different mindsets. Depending on preference, this might influence the validity of this recommendation.

Sabure Sabure says...

Both Miki and the Aho-Girl are boisterous, loud-mouthed, energetic, and downright stupid girls who always get into precarious and hilarious situations due to their act-first mentality. Despite this, though, they are both kind-hearted girls, and their actions are not meant to do any harm to those around them (except for their rivals, though).

AardvarkRex AardvarkRex says...

These two "violent" comedies have similar looking female protagonists who end up getting hurt a lot in the course of the show thanks to their reckless demeanor (or downright idiocy). Both also feature a dog character that shows human-like intelligence and superstrength. The humor is predominantly slapstick in both, but Aho-Girl tends to be more on the vulgar side.

Sgt. Frog

Sgt. Frog

As the mighty star fleet of the planet Keron prepare their invasion of Earth, Sergeant Keroro and his elite team of commandos have been sent to infiltrate the enemy strongholds and gather as much intelligence as possible. However, it seems even his extensive military training is no match for the forces of Earth, as he is discovered and captured by the two middle school siblings, Fuyuki and Natsumi. Submitted to the rigorous torture of housework duty, the amphibious Keroro must now bide his time, covertly locate his squad-mates, and resume his mission of conquest!

Trouble Chocolate

Trouble Chocolate

XMrNiceguyX XMrNiceguyX says...

While having a completely different premise, the feeling of both shows and a number of characters are very similar. The main difference between Trouble Chocolate and Muteki Kanban Musume is that Muteki Kanban Musume has more slapstick humor than Trouble Chocolate. What the latter doesn't have as slapstick, it has as original (yet weird) humor.

Keep in mind that Trouble Chocolate is a bit slower and has old art and animation which might put off fans of better animation; hence I recommend that art freaks don't watch Trouble Chocolate, while I strongly recommend the other way around.

Gargoyle of the Yoshinagas

Gargoyle of the Yoshinagas

When Futaba Yoshinaga won a gargoyle statue from a lottery, she had no idea that the inanimate object was actually a sentient talking being! Named simply Gargoyle (or Gar-kun), the statue decided to protect not only the Yoshinaga family, but the entire town of Goshiko. With a variety of characters trying to prove their superiority over Gar-kun and the wacky inventions of his crazy creator, Iyo Takahara, at every turn, it seems that life for the Yoshinaga family will never be the same again!

Both of these animes are comedies centered around life in a small town. They are funny and sarcastic and although one is slice of life and the other is fantasy, their humour is so similar that if you liked one, you will like the other.
