Alot of people called rahxephon this an eva clone. While this isn't true the two series have many similarities. But Eva has a different flair and a absoltely mindblowing story that just gets better the more you learn about the things they talk about in the series..

You find big, humanoid robots which melt together with their controller's senses in both animes. And earth needs to be defended against aliens in both cases as well. I'm sure you will find more similarities if you watch it.

in a sense, this was a more depressing version of Rahxephon...supposedly the creators of Rahxephon drew ideas of NGE and used it in their production of Rahxephon...however both anime's are distinct in their own right.

Neon Genesis Evangelion is probably the closest thing to RahXephon there is, but the characters are a bit more whiney. All-in-all the series is VERY good. There are lots of big robots and strange things called angels and revelations of the end of the world of course. If you liked one of these series, give the other a try.

Huge robots and aliens trying to over take the world... a story left untold.... Just like RahXephon ,Evangelion deals with a guy forced to become a pilot of a huge mysterious mecha just like Rah. RahXephon deals with the same kind of problems and figths just like Evangelion. But this one is alot more of a brain mess. This one has a really wonderful story and you will feel captured from the beginning to the end. You will love this one if you liked RahXephon.

Evangelion a precurser to RahXephon deals more with character development and personal deconstruction. Prepare for a more depressing series with a darker and whole more confusing religious event that is a benchmark which all series are usually compared to.

These two series invite close comparison, since they both feature giant mecha fighting with neurotic teenage pilots and existential philosophy. Evangelion is one of the classic series that made anime popular in the US, and RahXephon is a newer release with high production values, including stunning music and gorgeous art.

RahXephon is regarded as a clone of Evangelion by many(me included), you can't disregard that fact. Unstable main character, giant robots operated by chosen people, strange creatures attack human kind... it's in both of them, so go see the original!

Very similar animes in terms of plot. The key differences between them are probably the more developed love story/stories in rahxephon and the differences in animation. Rahxephon is somewhat easier to understand, but both have very complicated plotlines full of unexpected twists and revelations. If you liked either of these animes for the winding plot or the semi-organic mech combat, you'll very likely enjoy the other.

Rahxephon is very similar to Evangelion, and in the beginning it might have been an evangelionclone, but it makes it better with animation and less whiney characters. Evangelion is a must-see for anime fans, and rahxephon is as good if not better. Go figure.

You will find that both of these, while deemed mecha, have "robots" that are very organic both in design and in behaviour... behaviour you say? yes, and this really sets these two apart from a lot of the rest of this genre imho. If you liked ishitori from Rax, or the way unit 01 acts in NGE, then the other series will probably be rewarding for you in the same way

Huge mechas backed up by an excellent cast of characters and stunning artwork is how I would describe RahXephon, it's utterly stunning. A very loosley, similar based plot with Evangelion, using mecha to fight alien "invaders" although I felt that RahXephon took itself a lot more seriously and has a much better characterisation than Eva. But both series are a must watch.

Both Evangelion and RahXephon have similar storylines containing giant robots and an apocalyptic theme. Both contain a well drawn cast of characters. If you've watched one and enjoyed it, I highly suggest you watch the other.

Some say Rahxephon is and Eva clone, some say it's Eva done right. Either way, these two obviously have a whole lot in common. Mechs, foes they know almost nothing about, existential philosophy, corporate/governmental plots, and a young main character who has the world's future placed squarely on his shoulders. The list goes on. It's a bit quicker to list the few differences - Rahxphon doesn't really have the ecchi content Eva does, Ayato is a good bit more level-headed than Shinji, and Rahxephon uses a musical theme while Eva has its biblical allusions. If you liked either of these series, it should be worth your time to go watch the other.

Both anime are filled with giants, monsters, and robots which are controlled by teenagers who fight in them.  Both anime are aimed at thinkers, and climax at the end with THE robot (Unit 01 in Evangelion and RahXephon in well... RahXephon) in the first place.

Using gamer terminology, these series have the same setting: huge anthropomorphic robots save the world (or try to destroy it, according to the point of view) with a little help of brave teenagers. The formula is completed by a mere alien per episode and a big boss in the end. As a set-off against Eva, RahXephon has a great love story. By all means, those who were excited about one series will enjoy watching the other.

Both series feature teenaged powered giant robots in them fighting a mysterious alien force. They also raise many questions about why these battles are being fought and if they are right or wrong in doing so. I you liked either of these shows, I think you'll like this one too ;)

RahXephon has a lot of the same characteristics that Evangelion has in plot line. The characters aren't nearly as well thought out in RahXephon. Whichever you see first, you'll feel as though the story line has been told to you before when watching the other. I personally recommend Evangelion far above the other however.

Both of these anime have a lot in common. In fact sometimes it's uncanny on how similar these two are. Emotionally unstable characters, giant Mechs, plot twists, and a lot of thinking required by the reader. Those are what make these anime great.Som if you like one, you are bound to enjoy the other.

Humanity's last hope lies in an angst up teenage boy. Both seem to revolve around this idea, but each seem to pull off an excelent story of their own. If you liked one, you'll enjoy the change of pace in the other.

Both series target a young protagonist. Although they are slightly different in character, they both go through a similar rite of age and grow up while bearing the epic apocalyptic conflicts the world experiences. Both involve a very exclusive organization and a quest to achieve salvation. It is important to note that they diverge greatly at one point in terms of atmosphere and theme. Also, BioMech combat is abundant though not the focus.

Both animes are about a guy who gets stuck piloting a robot they never wanted to in the first place. They both fight to protect what they love and both end up fighting against their parents. Both go through their own live experiences and live through extreem mind blowing events. They are both very similar almost like the same anime with different characters.

Story line is similiar in both animes, though it's not the same. There is a couple of things that makes this anime unique. It was made on the story from NGE, so you should watch NGE also.

Both series are similar in many aspects. At first sight they are both about fighting against strange beings which appear on Earth, with the help of robotic humanoids..but if you try to think of it more, you find out that there are many philosophical questions in both series - about our existence, about human's emotions, about human's attitude to unknown..both series are very symbolic and therefore very difficult to understand..I am sure, that if you liked one, you would like the other.

NGE was certainly a hit when it first came to light and while the artistic aspect has unfortunately dated a bit, it still is a good series to watch. RahXephon while a lot newer than NGE breathes new animation and storyline into the Mecha series, creating a similiar although different story to NGE. Either way, if you like one of them, then you'll most certainly be able to sit through the other.

A clone/the predecessor? No, even though both series are somehow psychological, they are different: While NGE prefers an more open ending, RahXephon goes with closure. In the end, be sure to watch both or you missed something!

Quite frankly, RahXephon could be mistakenly subtitled 'A Neon Genesis Evangelion Tribute' and no one would question the statement's validity for a second.  There are some obvious parellels, perhaps even homages to NGE.  Both try to elevate the mecha series to something deeper than summer-action movie levels of depth, both sport pretty shocking style in doing so.  Ultimately, it is NGE that is more succesful in this endeavor, and far prior in doing so to boot, but RahXephon is still a good watch.

RahXephon are very VERY simiar in terms of plot and also characters. I think that anyone who enjoys one would enjoy the other equally. I think the one of the only differences between the two is the influence is religion present in Evangelion

In each of these anime's there is a boy who is asked to help save the world from strange beings beyond earth's imagination. There is a lot of character development that surrounds the boy as he gets in his mecha and struggles with his desire and his duty in this post-apocalyptic era of human survival.

RahXephon contains everything good about the second half of Evangelion. Both contain beautiful art and music, and lovely character development. The symbolism makes you want to claw out your brain, but it's worth it. Though I found I was more emotionally invested in the characters from Evangelion than from RahXephon, I found RX to be a darker and sadder series (in a good way). If you enjoyed the thought-provoking nature of one, you'll definately enjoy the other.

The similarities are endless and there is also definitely some major differences biggest one of which being that the main theme of RahXephon is music and its power to change the world (tune the world). I think of RahXephon as being very similar to NGE (at least there seems to be slightly more similarities than differences) with a much less emo male lead and a watchable ending (more than watchable actually, compared to NGE's completely unwatchable and horrific last two episodes). RahXephon is what Evangelion should have been like. NGE has a lot more fans than RahXephon, although i can't possibly comprehend why aside from the fact that NGE came first.

On a more serious note, both stories are focused heavily on character development and feature plotlines that unravel slowly amid deep philosophical and psychological questions.  Most of the plot is muggy or doesn't make too much sense logically in each anime, but both are also driven by their characters and questions.  If you enjoy character development and good action, you'll certainly like the other. Oh, and both have ass-kicking giant robots that are decidedly organic in presentation relative to other series.

Overall, RahXephon is a graphically updated and less depressing version of Neon Genesis Evangelion.

These are two masterpieces that the mecha genre can proudly claim as their own. They are well-animated and they have good OSTs...but the real jewel here is the 2deep4u plot/story/character development/themes. Both are quite depressing, but you will be grateful to watch this treat. It's not often you see something that change the perception of the world...of hundreds of thousands of otakus!

Simply put these two animes share so many themes. I'm a huge fan of character development and challenging the notions of self-worth and individual power. The protagonists in these series are similar in the way that they feel displaced.. and the story for RahXephon has been clearly influenced by NGE. NGE is my number 1, and until view RahXephon I didn't think anything could come close. Well it did. It came close and then beat it within an inch of it's life. RahXephon and NGE are both fantastic anime series and I strongly recommend these two to anyone who loves a good Psychological anime.

Both mecha shows have a lot in common apart form their respective eponymous mecha. Both can be rather obdurant, making casual viewing a bit annoying, and there are conspiracies left and right, nebulous organisations and large casts full of people that really are too young to be in a military context. The mecha designs are rather similar, and the enemy designs are pretty out there.

There's a larger mystical theme (Christianity in EVA and musical terms in RahXephon) that serves to set them apart from a lot of other mecha anime — but obviously not each other. People that like one of these and want a similar viewing experience would do well to check the other one out.

Both RahXephon and Gundam Seed have a main character that has to deal with fighting in a war that he wanted no part of. Both series have emotional conflicts and problems that the main character has to deal with due to fighting battles, and females who fall in love with the main characters. If you like one series you will like the other.

There are two elements that make these two anime similar to one another.

1. They follow the same theme of the main character being practically an entirely different race and having to coexist alongside his peoples' enemies. It creates an protagonist that is truly alone on a extremely deep and emotional level.

2. Really great mecha battles. Really REALLY great battles. Not just lightsabers and guns and big intergalactic space explosions, but battles with a purpose and a meaning. Basically they're not just mecha fanboy fodder.

While Gundam SEED has much more politics in the story line, they both incorporate a strong boy who wants to live a normal life, yet is forced into strange war, that troubles the boy (Kira in G SEED, and Kamina in RahXephon) The story really shows the hardships that the male lead encounters and the menal anguish of battle.

With love all around, and mecha fighting tearing thing apart... these anime's are very similar. If you like one, you'll like the other

In both series, the main character is taken out of his normal life after meeting an older women (the onee-san type) and they are made too fight in a war even though that is the last thing they want to do in order to protect their friends. Also, they both do their battles using very powerful and unique mechas.

Dolems and peacemakers... a connection... i think so... not only that but SP has kick ass super dragoon, with those lightsaber holding backups, and rax has rax with those red things.. very suspicious additionally the anime is both in the "new" style with heavy hair highlighting... make tham feel even more alike, although to be fair the visual quality of rax is better

RahXephon and Scrapped Princess have a bunch of similarities in plot and Peacemakers look quite like dolems. There is more to it, but you'll understand, once you've seen both shows. Both of those shows have rather good story, so you could give them a try.

While these two series may appear to have little in common, the artistic work offered by the BONES studio means that if you liked the animation of one of these series then the other will be of similiar style. Also, if you like the plot to be gradually unfolded and built upon through the series then both of these are well worth watching.

While the execution of Scrapped Princess and RahXephon are quite different, they both have similar plot elements. I can't say too much without giving away spoilers, so I will simply say that they both deal with humanity's concept of the world. RahXephon is more abstract, but they both offer excellent character development.

These shows might appear to be about saving the world from unknown enemies at first. But at a closer look one will soon realise that there are a lot more to it than meets the eye. Character interraction and character development aswell as questions regarding life and it's existence are abundant in these shows. These things are shown extremely well. Definetly something for someone who wants more than just senseless action.

Well, Fafner and Rahxephon are the two anime that most commonly get labeled as Eva clones - They each have mech combat against extremely mysterious foes, with some existential philosophy and government conspiracy mixed in. These two in particular also utilize a more sane cast of characters, so the focus is more on the actions they take in regards to the overall picture, as opposed to psychological meltdowns. Unless you just hate watching anime that are similar to something you've already seen, there's really no reason not to try out one of these if you enjoyed the other.

Evangelion started out as an anime, and now it has almost become a genre. If you want mecha without resorting to the light show that Gundam and Vandread gave you, then RahXephon and Fafner can provide you with story-based mecha anime that are all about character development and utter strangeness.

Though the protagonists and settings vary wildly in these two series, Lain and Raxephon should appeal to the same audiences. Both contain extremely mysterious emotional events, some of which will often confuse the audience until a later date. Yet the strongest correlation is the theme of technology affecting life. Lain is all about the conquering of culture though over techinal saturation and Rahxephon is about a device that will ultimately ruin or rebuild the world, of course which one it will do depends on your point of view.

Both series deal with philosophical questions. If you liked one because of interesting thoughts about our reality and about our existence, you would surely like the other. Both series are difficult to understand and have to be seen more than once, because there are several points of view.

Well ok. Nothing. Still, both Rahxephon and Serial Experiments Lain are similair in the sense that they both deal with philosophical and existential themes while at the same time not shying away from totally messing with the viewer's head.

Ayato and Lain also go through similair developements and dilemmas regarding themselves and their view on the world in general. Ultimately though, they come up with different solutions for how to handle their respective situations.

So in short, if you liked one of these series because of the great sense of mystery and thought-provoking plot and fantastic use of symbolism and cultural (in Lain's case) or historical (in Rahxephon's case) references, check out the other series. There's a good chance you'll love that as well.

You would like Eureka Seven because it has a similar plot to RahXephon.  They are both mecha anime and both have clear Evangelion influences. Studio Bones animated both series, too, so the quality and style are almost identical.

Next to the obvious mecha connections, Eureka 7 and RahXephon deal with similar feelings of despair and perseverance. With a good plot and similar atmosphere you shouldn't miss out on one if you liked the other.

As is pretty obvious by the screenshots both animes involve mecha. The great thing about these two animes is that they are both a mystery until some of the very last episodes. I will say that RahXephon has a lot more wtf moments in it towards the end, but if you take the time to understand it, its great. RahXehpon and Eureka Seven also both contain great love stories. There is also a heavy presence of the military in both shows.

Both RahXephon and Eureka Seven are post-NGE mecha anime. Surprisingly both are quite good and providing lots of action and some decent characters. If you liked one of those two, you probably should give the other a try. Since both of those anime were produced by Bones, they are somewhat similar. However, in the long run, the story and characters are different, but I believe that is a good thing. I mean, what fun would be watching the same thing twice?

If you haven't watched Neon Genesis Evangelion first, do so. This is the END of it, hence the title. But, the whole imagery and idea behind the End of Eva is very similar to that of the end of RahXephon.

Similar in the vain that both series do have mecha. And although FMP is primarily a romance/comedy/action, I personally think if you loved one you will most certainly like the other. Both have excellent animation and amazing soundtracks to boot.

While it might seem weird at first to recommend FMP for RahXephon, the idea popped into my head based on the fact that while though they both have mecha, they also have a very large storyline apart from the major fighting machines. Full Metal Panic and RahXephon are alike in the fact that the characters have lives and stories outside of fighting.

Both anime's bring together a strange male/female duo whose relationship gets strange as the truth is revealed about the abilities and responsibilities of the characters.

The mecha fighting is similar though the animation is worlds apart. So if you enjoyed the type of story that one anime brought to the table, you are sure to like the other

RahXephon is a serious mecha series - Dual! is much more humorous. Both combine a harem comedy in the background. Both have interesting mecha designs, decent animation, and pretty decent music (RahXephon's is better, IMO, but Dual! still has good music). And both have the hero doing it up right, IMO!

Rahxephon and Dual! Parallel Trouble adventures are both outstanding examples of the harem comedy genre combined with secondary mecha/war elements. Both Ayato of RX and Kazuki of Dual are fairly likeable male leads who aren't quite as wimpy as similar characters in other shows. RX and Dual also feature a diverse cast of female characters, with an assortment of appearances and personality types. If you can find a girl to like in one show, you can find a girl to like in the other.

Both RahXephon and Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventures are post-NGE series. Both of them a lot of elements from Neon Genesis Evangelion and because of that both of them resemble each other. Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventures has a harem going on, on the other hand RahXephon has only a hint of that. While both series are lighter on drama than Neon Genesis Evangelion, RahXephon has considerably more drama than Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventures (which lacks it almost completely). Also, RahXephon has way better written story and characters, though due to strong similarities between those series you might still want to check one if you've seen the other one.

Somehow, for all it's hightechness, rax ends up with the same "really old fashioned society with technolodgy that it really shouldn't have, but has anyways" fell that really characterizes last exile. I guess it's die to the dolems, but it might also be the tokyo side of things. Additionally the glossyness of photoshop is not to be missed in the higlighted world of both rax and last exile.

I can't tell why, but RahXephon and Last Exile felt quite alike (honestly I can't name what made me think so). So, if you liked one, you might enjoy the other one as well (but you'll have to trust my gut fell on that).
