Madoka Magica focuses on battling witches, and Assault Lily focuses on fighting the HUGE. Both Riri and Yuyu bearing a resemblance to Madoka and Homura in a different style.

surprised noone recommended these. this is for both Puella Magi Madoka Magica+Rebellion movie, because the ending counts.

both series are graphic and gruesome. main character discovers about the enemies of humanity one day and is forced supernatural powers upon them. there's certain parallels in dynamics between akira & ryo and homura & madoka, including implied romantic interest. both ryo and homura are stuck in endless time loop reliving the same tragic outcome over and over.

Both have girls who transform to fight evil, both have color-based characters, and both only have girls fighting evil.

On the surface, both Madoka Magica and Houseki no Kuni seem to have plots centered on more "cute and innocent" action. But as you keep watching, you realize that all is not as it seems. Both definitely have an element of horror that becomes more and more prominent as the show goes on.

Both have different stories, so this is about a younger girl who is with her relationship with a bodyguard. And Madoka Magica is about magical girls knowing their friendship to remember.

Anyways, Ririchiyo and Karuta are the only characters that remind me of Homura and Madoka. So their personalities are different with each other.
