The atmosphere in this anime is simply great. They managed to create a dystopian world that is actually relatable. I loved how the technology was intertwined with the human psyche. The idea that you could be banned from society just by your mental health is so terrifying and yet so real. I think this anime is an intelligent critique of today’s society. On the other hand, the plot becomes a little boring over time. The characters aren’t that relatable and they don’t develop through the anime.

A melting pot of references that give for a freshening experience

If you like: Ghost in the Shell, Experiments Lain, Cowboy Bebop, Black Mirror, Philip K Dick, The Fifth Element.

Although most of its themes have already been approached in another form, this anime is still able to keep its audience's attention. The story maintains a constant level of quality throughout and doesn't rely on gimmicks.

100 years in the future, crimes can be detected before they are committed, thanks to a psycho-pass, a device which monitors the criminal potential of all citizens. If this potential passes a certain level, competent autorities will be notified and take action : the potential criminal will either be forcibly sent to therapy or killed on the spot.

We learn early on that psycho-passes are connected to Sybile, an orwellian Internet-type of system that also determines the destiny of citizens from a young age: what jobs they are fit or unfit for, their place in society. Psycho-pass presents a substantial universe where futuristic technologies meet contemporary issues: health is monitored cybernetically, the Internet  is in full VR (Sword art online style), holograms replace furnishing, clothing, advertising and much more in a world where nothing is as it seems.

It does not feel outdated in its approach of the internet and the social networks that it enables, societal relations, pariahs and deviance in general. Psycho- pass stays truthful to science fiction in its story and visuals. Characters naturally develop in their environment and the plot unfolds consistently.

Psycho-Pass was a satisfying experience, and I'm heading to the second installement.

OMG this is good Anime! For personal reasons, Psycho-Pass is one of my favourite; Here are some reasons why:

The concept of self-consciousness and NtAI ("Not that Artificial" Intelligence; I know, I'm a genius :P) the tech and society, and basically all the narrative universe is really good. All the little details snap together like a puzzle giving birth to a living city. The idea was brilliant and well executed. Liked it a lot. (Ghost in the Shell influence maybe?)

The characters are amazingly well built. They have nice and convenient evolution, there are some that stand out and with their comments make you think and rethink over and over throughout the entire series, there are some REALLY crazy ones, there are some mature ones... variety and realism. Although there are some cases where the behaviour is a little bit forced, and there are some character backgrounds that we won't get to see, those are not essential as the storyline is pretty complex and convoluted already.

The animation is consistent, and gives the series more impact as a tragical futuristic story, and leaves it's signature as I think it's unusual to see that type of atmosphere nowadays. No complains at all. (Well... there's a little bit of gore but it won't make things worse).

As for the sound... Well, It sounds OK, the voices are crystal clear as those have been for ages but the FX... sometimes those can be somewhat annoying, at least for me, when there are some noises that don't fit in as they should, or are exagerated.

Recap: Little bit of blood and creepy sounds, little bit of insanity coupled with lots of realism, superb and complex universe where the characters will develop "beautifully" and "sane"... And lot's of nail biting, I can assure that.

P.D: The intros and outros, specially the first ones are (っ˘ڡ˘ς).

Psycho-Pass is one of those animes that will shock everyone. There's not a lot to review about Psycho-Pass because of the high stakes value in a show compacted into only 22 episodes. I however to think it's one of those animes that NEVER should have gotten a sequel and several OVA's.

In part because of how great the concept of Psycho pass 1 was having a sequel seems to demean the overall quality of the first anime. Psycho pass's concept of a story is rich and thick so much so that by having another show blow's the mind of the audience.

I found Psycho-Pass to be very disturbing in the storyline, and how their world works. The authors intended this factor, but having more seasons also indicate if the viewer should be watching this show at all. It's one of those things where it might have been better if the audience has a bow at the end and can re-watch the one hit wonder.

Characters are more or less so so. There's no 'real' factor to the characters as they quesiton their own humanity and the humanity of others. Rather then have real characters with unique personalities the plot is more story driven and focuses on the environment of the characters and the cruel fate. This is also because their lives are driven by machines and test scores so personalities were thrown out the window for the story. A friend informed me that because if there's a plot "You must really like the characters to like the show."

Gen Urobuchi's Psycho Pass is an Excellent Cyberpunk, Sci-Fi Thriller.
“Being a detective isn’t about bringing someone down, but rather protecting someone.”

Psycho Pass is a sci-fi, mystery show that will have you intrigued from the very beginning, the story is a very elabortate mystery detective one that is entwined with a cyberpunk, sci-fi built world, it is a slow burn detective show but it rewards you with thrilling storytelling and some pretty wicked action scenes that isn't afraid to throw blood and gore in your face. In a world where society is run by a system called the Sibyl system. the story follows a young woman that joins the Public Safety Bureau as their new detective in Division 1, as she and her unit must regulate and take down those who do not pass under the Sibyl system, this is done by keeping tabs on peoples conscious and stress levels in which they call their Psycho Pass.

The characters are brilliant in Psycho Pass and well written, one of two main protagonists is Akane Tsunemori, a young woman who is a new recruit to the Public Safety Bureau, she is proven to handle stress levels very well and shows a lot of empathy and intelligence. Sadly she is overshadowed by her co-star Shinya Kougami, a former PSB detective now turned Enforcer, a man who was once a excellent detective with great combat skills and wit, but he can also be quite reckless. He gives me some heavy Spike Spiegiel (from Cowboy Bebop) vibes. Both are supported by an excellent cast of support characters from a mentally declining lead detective to the main antagonist who is very meticulus and skilled himself.

Studio I.G. do a incredible job with the animation and the art style is awesome especially the design of the guns called "Dominators" which look like something out of a alien movie. The sound team do an immaculate job with some great performances from Kana Hawazawa (Mayuri from Steins Gate) and Kenta Miyaki (All Might from My Hero Acadamia) as well a kickass soundtrack and a killer opening song "Out of Control" by Nothing's Carved in Stone. Overall Psycho Pass is a Sci-fi Thriller Anime at it's best with a story that will have you engaged and informed from beginnning to end and is packaged into a neat 22 episodes.

+ Clever Thrilling Story.

+ Top Notch Production.

+ Complex Characters.
