Right, it's confession time for me. If you have been reading my reviews than you may have noticed that I tend to rip the anime a new one. There is a reason for this though and it has to do with the fact that I can't turn my brain off when watching anime. I can't ignore the stupid shown in the anime and this is a problem as most anime are very stupid indeed.

In this case I'm not talking about a 90 pound girl catching a multi-ton cruise missile and throwing it back. Yes, it is stupid but it is a stupid that I'll allow. It's anime. Things like this are normal here and I'm pretty much fine with it. It annoys me to be sure but I will not rant about it.

So, having explained this lets rip into this anime shall we? Just a heads up: There will most probably be spoilers. The more I hate an anime the more spoilers there will be.

ART: The art is meh. It looks cheap and it probably was but it gets the job done well enough.

SOUND: More meh. Soundeffects are good and get the job done. Voice acting is pretty good but the actors didn't have that much to do.

CHARACTERS: Main character is probably Minamoto. He is a 20 year old army veteran and considered a prodigy. His job is to watch over the Children.

The Children are a group of 10 year old girls who are the most powerful espers in Japan. Kaoru is the most vocal of the group and she is the other main character of the show. She is a psychokinetic. Aoi is a teleporter and Shiho can use psychometry.

STORY: With the onset of people with esper powers there has also been more and more people who resent and fear those with this power. In some cases this is correct as some espers most definitely abuse their powers in order to commit crimes. In order to combat this and to promote esper sentiment the Japanese government created BABEL. Their job is to stop espers from abusing their powers and to show the people that espers are nothing to be afraid about. Of coarse not all espers feel that way and they create PANDRA whos mission is to create a world for espers and if that world calls for the removal of all normal humans than so be it.

RANT: To be honest there isn't much to rant about here. There are a lot of stupid things happening but they aren't that annoying most of the time. The one big exception is the way the Children act.

Remember that the Children are all girls and they are all 10 years old. They also want to marry Minamoto at some point and will throw themselves at him at every opportunity. This is often brought as funny but it just pisses me off as it sexualizes a bunch of 10 year old girls.

Against that is the leader of PANDRA, Hyobu, who also expresses interest in the Children and Kaoru in particular. He calls her the queen of espers and wishes to marry her as well. He also clearly states that he will wait for her to mature so that she will be an adult when he comes for her.

Other grievance I had was the tone of the series. This is decidedly early teen and it doesn't do the anime justice. Some big, bad subjects are broached but these dark tones are severely toned down to keep the low age rating going.
