I find the overall atmosphere in these shows very similar, full of heartfelt and beautiful moments. One is about a group of fox girls working at an inn and learning some valuable life lessons while interacting with and helping out visitors. And the other has a group of robot girls working at a cafe who also go through similar poignant situations.

Both anime of non-human working in service area (hotel/restaurant). Both have similar atmosphere. The mc trying hard to learn and do well as solving other's problem.

Planetarian Movie: Hoshi no Hito

Planetarian Movie: Hoshi no Hito

In the future after much of the world has been devastated by nuclear and biological warfare, a young scavenger or 'Junker' exploring a quarantined and abandoned city comes across a service robot still faithfully awaiting customers in the rooftop planetarium of a department store. Against his pragmatic instincts he helps the robot repair the planetarium's projector: a decision which will change both their fates.

Planetarian and Prima Doll feature animated female dolls, which could also be termed as female androids, as gynoids, or fembots. In both cases, they have a lot of cute features and little quirks. It's somewhat about idealized females which aren't humans. Both stories have a lot of slice of life elements, though Prima Doll has much more action and it has generally a longer story.

Both shows feature some human females with administrative power as important side characters, while the male main characters are rather competent and independent men. The main character in Planetarian has a tougher but maybe cynical vibe to him, while the male main character in Prima Doll is rather mild-mannered but still competent, independent and self-confident.

Both stories are mostly rather relaxing, but with important emotional elements. Both stories lack scenes with relevant infighting or unpleasant tensions.

One difference is, that Planetarian is about the dolls helping humans finding some purpose to work for and also finding self-confidence and hope, while Prima Doll is more about dolls themselves finding a new purpose, and also trying to find hope when things get difficult for them. The male main character in Planetarian just lives to survive at the beginning of the story, while the male main character in Prima Doll already has a goal related to caring about his dolls and others.

Prima Doll is more related to food and hospitality, while Planetarian is more related to astronomy and the meaning we can find by having this huge universe out there. Prima Doll features much more musical elements, it is more similar to "Vivy - The Fluorite Eye's Song" in that regard. But it has for example much more slice-of-life elements than Vivy, and also the main characters are much more like cute dolls.

Prima Doll features some scenes with partial nudity, which might be an issue for some viewers, or it is at least important to keep this in mind when deciding on who to watch it with.

FYI, Planetarian also exists as a game and a show, but I think the movie is most recommended for the start.

Time of Eve

Time of Eve

In the future, androids live side by side with humans – but not as their equals, as their slaves. Though they look identical, these androids must display a holographic ring over their heads so the difference is clear. One day, a boy named Rikuo finds abnormal activity patterns in the logs of his own android, and alongside his friend Masaki, he sets forth to find where the android has been. Much to their surprise, the duo discovers a secret café known as Eve no Jikan with a single rule: within its walls, there must be no discrimination between humans and robots. In this place, androids appear to be human and are even displaying signs of independence – a trait that should not be possible. Rikou finds his perceptions increasingly challenged as he struggles to come to terms with his own android, and the relationship between man and machines...
