Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt

Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt

When there's something strange in your neighborhood, who ya gonna call? No, not the Ghostbusters. Call on Panty & Stocking, the two fallen angels Heaven-sent to clear the surface world of Ghosts – creatures spawned from mortals who met gruesome deaths. At least, that's what they'd like you to think. In reality, they're gun-toting, sword-wielding femmes fatales who lay waste not only to the evil of Daten City, but to all its bachelors and candy treats too. With a healthy dollop of collateral damage and full-frontal nudity, they always manage to save the day. If they can be bothered, that is...

Given Panty and Stocking is like a more ecchi version of Powerpuff Girls, this rec makes perfect sense. If you want a bizarre visual style with girls kicking ass, look no further.

Jtier Jtier says...

After watching Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt-- even before watching it, the first thought that came into my mind was the Powerpuff girls. Quite clearly both series have a very similar art style and seems to copy/parody American cartoons quite blatantly. Despite Panty & Stocking being far more mature, crude, and perverted than Powerpuff girls, it's undeniable that there are similarities.

ArtisanKirei ArtisanKirei says...

Panty and Stocking is basically a more risque and crude version of PPG. The animation styles are similar but P&S is definitely more for the adult/ecchi audience than it's cutesy counterpart. If you grew up liking PPG, this is a logical progression.

Sweet Valerian and Powerpuff Girls Z are both mahou shoujo anime about girls who fight baddies and save the world. The villains in each anime aren't terribly serious, and each anime's tone is lighthearted and aimed at children. If you liked one, you might like the other (but I didn't enjoy either).

LLORAtheLLAMA LLORAtheLLAMA says...

Both of these animes have the magical girls who go out to protect the city. Many magical girl shows are the same (kinda) but I felt that these two were really close to each other.

They both create a magical group of three with each girl's personality different from each other. Besides the girls, the villians are the same since they both aren't taken very seriously.

The are style is really nice and the characters just pop out with the consistent bold lines used to draw them (though in D!PPGZ the bold lines don't always appear).

As you watch both D!PPGZ and Sweet Valerian, you'll notice the many similarities.

Grrl Power and Powerpuff Girls Z will surely appeal to the same audience (young girls). Each involves a trio of girls that does good deeds for the world, whether it's finding items or thwarting evil. Overall I think Grrl Power is a much better show, and PGZ has far too many length transformation sequences; still, one should appeal to fans of the other.

Mermaid Melody and Powerpuff Girls Z are saccharine shoujo tales of a girl (or girls) who is magical in some way. Let's face it - most magical girl series appeal to the same audience; so if you liked one, give the other a try.

Cosmic Girl and Powerpuff Girls Z are both magical girl shoujo titles that will appeal to the same audience (young girls). PGZ is admittedly a lot more action-packed and high octane (if you can call it that), while Comet-san has more cuteness. Fans of one may enjoy the other.

If you are looking for the same magical girl goodness with a touch more maturity, try out Shugo Chara. It's a bit more serious and not nearly as ridiculous in the animation department, and may appeal to you.

Even if Powerpuff Girls Z seems pretty harmless at first sight, it got more 'mature' later on. Which I think is the same case with Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne.

Both has the magical girl plot and they both feature minimal Ecchi and slapstick, like men looking at another womens boobs (When he already have a girl friend) and gets punched down into the ground, or skirts lifting. And bad people getting drunk... well, that's a must I guess.

Also, Both are Shoujo aimed at a 11 and up audience. However, PPGZ is much more unserious about things, while KK Jeanne has a more serious plot.

Still, if you are a big fan of Shoujo Anime, you should watch them both. They are a pleasure to watch both of them.

Sailor Moon is the original Mahou Shojo team anime!  A lot of the humor is the same, dealing with middle school girls and their everyday life.  If you enjoy watching Powerpuff Girls Z fighting different monsters, you'll love seeing all the different villains that the Sailor Senshi fight!

Powerpuff girls z is something I reccomend if you like Tokyo mew mew, and the other way around!. They both have cuteness, magical girls, familliar faces and a kawaii magical girl changing skit.

Magic wands, weapons, and cute little items to fight with? You got em.

Kawaii outfits? Of course! Both available in english and japanese, both are perfect for those who love the bright and cute.

Both anime teams fight the bad guys, and kick serious butt, So give it a try!!

Same magical girl premise. Can be pretty similar. They even have three little girls fight crime and save the day after they transform.
