A place where spirits and humans meet, a time of trust and kindness, and a destiny of love and hope; such is the realm of Shinkyoku Soukai Polyphonica and Inukami!. These two series have been given birth by the anime realm as fraternal twins. They are similar in so many ways, yet still remain distinct in their own way. A powerful female spirit partnered with a normal male- tis is course of destiny that both play out. Yet, as fraternal twins, this destiny is played out in very contrasting contexts and settings.

Inukami! is the male of the two, offering light-heartedness and sheer male determination. Perhaps one can attribute the well-intentioned yet somewhat romantic jokes played out in the series to Inukami! being the male twin. Meanwhile, Shinkyoku Soukai Polyphonica is the female one. For that reason, the series plays out in a more romantic and heartwarming manner and draws out many traits that generate from ladies. That being said, Shinkyoku Soukai Polyphnica and her partner, Inukami!, are sure to spark your interest and enjoyment should you acquaint yourself with one or the other.

Dubbed "Zero" by her classmates at Tristein Academy (due to her zero success rate for magic), Louise (along with all first year students) was charged with summoning a familiar; and instead of a cute magical creature, the familiar arrived in the form of... Saito Hiraga, a normal Japanese boy who was abruptly teleported from his own world?! Can both Louise and Saito come to terms with their new and complicated "relationship" and (more importantly) help Saito find a way home?

Both anime have a very interesting fantasy worlds that revolve around using music in some unique way. Munto is more about saving their world where Shinkyoku Soukai Polyphonica is about everyone working together in the world to make it a better place with some added fanservice in there. Both styles in these anime are very similar so check one out if you liked the other.

Both of these anime have characters who make contracts with spiritual beings. Another similarity is that when the human characters desire to help these aforesaid beings out with some extra power, they sing a song. If you liked the idea of humans making contracts with spirits and some short singin' (mostly during battles for both), check the other anime out.

Both of these anime have characters who sing songs to use attacks. While Ar tonelico is a short OVA of the game, after watching Shinkyoku Soukai Polyphonica and this, combined with being entranced by fantasy characters singing in battle, you will most likely want to buy the anime’s game Ar toneclio: Melody of Elemia (translated to English, BTW).
