Reasons you might like Barakamon...

AnnaSartin AnnaSartin says...

Both have a single man who goes to the countryside and finds himself while dealing with an adorable little tyke who shakes things up.

asterris asterris says...

Both follow a slightly finicky man struggling with their future/jobs and how they gain happiness from the simple influence of a child. Barakamon has the MC struggling with inspiration as in calligraphy, while in Poco the MC is a web designer contemplating whether to move from Tokyo and if he should keep his job or not.

In Barakamon it's an adorable but mischievous little girl, and in Poco's in a sweet/pure melt-your-heart boy.

If you like shows where the MC kindly takes care of little children and worries about them in a cute manner, while also resolving a few slice of life problems, you will most likely find both of these shows likeable.

Both feature a man from Tokyo trying to find themselves, and going to stay out on the islands. Both feature a cute kid who shows them a different view on life and helps them find their way again. Great artwork, acting and storylines. Nice paced slice of life.

Both anime have as a protagonist a single man who after he moves into the country they find a kid that changes the way they see life and help them overcome the difficulties they face. Two nice laid-back comedies with strong slice-of-life elements.

Both take place in the country and have a cute kid main character along with a single guy that acts as a surrogate parent of sorts. Similar relaxing vibes and focus on friendship and dreams.

Sweetness & Lightning

Sweetness & Lightning

Having lost his wife, math teacher Kouhei Inuzuka is doing his best to raise his young daughter Tsumugi as a single father. He's pretty bad at cooking and doesn't have a huge appetite to begin with, but chance brings his little family and one of his students, Kotori Iida, together for homemade adventures. With those three cooks in the kitchen, it's no wonder this dinner table drama is so delicious.

Bunny Drop

Bunny Drop

When Daikichi's grandfather dies he leaves behind a young daughter named Rin. Disgusted by this behavior, Daikichi decides to take care of her himself, but he's a bachelor, has no idea how to raise a child, and isn't even all that comfortable with kids! Now, Daikichi must do the normal things a parent does such as enroll her in school, buy her clothing and teach her about the life and world around her. But more importantly, he must also help her deal with her father's death and decide whether or not she should try to find her mother. Together, the two begin their unlikely relationship as father and daughter, navigating each of life's bumps along the way.

The message is slightly different between these two slice-of-life animes, but it still contains the same premise of an adult with no parenting experience who decides to adopt a young child.

GrnEydDvl GrnEydDvl says...

Both of these shows are about a single man who, through very unsual circustances, decides to take in a young child.  The man struggles and sacrifices as he learns to love, care for, and provide for the child.  The relationship between the father figure and the child is crazy adorable, super sweet, and heartwarming.  If you liked one show you will definitely like the other.

zeeryptid zeeryptid says...

It has the same feel, there's a guy who takes in a small child. The anime is about the struggles and happiness of raising a child.

If you like Poco's Udon World or Bunny Drop, you would like the other because both incorporates a single man who, through very unsual circustances, decides to take in a young child. The man struggles and sacrifices as he learns to love, care for, and provide for the child. They both are a light-hearted story and the relationship between the man and the child is absolutely adorable.

School Babysitters

When Ryuichi and his 2-year-old brother Kotaro's parents die in a plane crash, the brothers are adopted by a woman who lost her son in the same incident: the wealthy chairwoman of Morinomiya Academy. She's empathetic to the brothers' plight, but her kindness has a cost: she's opened an on-site daycare for the staff's children, but doesn't have enough people to run it. None of the students have been interested in helping, and the only adult childcare worker spends more time sleeping than caring for the children. The chairwoman's solution? Put Ryuichi to work as the very first member of the school's new "Babysitter's Club"!

A human and his youkai companion living in the countryside is the plot of both these series. It one case the youkai is the adult who protects a human youth, while the other is a human man who takes charge of a tanuki toddler. Both shows are laid back and emotional series that give the viewer a gentle, warm feeling.

The Eccentric Family

The Eccentric Family

In Kyoto, youkai have adapted to an urbanized lifestyle, and are often indistinguishable from humans. Among them is Yasaburo, a brash young tanuki who wants nothing more than to live an exciting life with his family: a mother obsessed with Takarazuka theater, a frog stuck in the bottom of a well, a kid brother who works at the brandy factory, and an older brother who’s just trying to hold them all together. But two things stand in the way of Yasuburo’s dreams: the tanuki community has shunned the boy’s eccentric family since his esteemed father died, and the ever-present threat of being cooked and consumed by humans! Can the young tanuki manage to have fun without besmirching his father's legacy or meeting an untimely death by hot pot?
