But upon heading to school, the boy notices a new face that’s familiar to him somehow - her name is Ichika Takatsuki, and she’s new in town. Kaito’s friends, noticing his interest in the girl, all resolve to make a movie this summer and cast her as the lead, to which she immediately approves. Alien girlfriend, fan service, pretty much boring storyline both ways :/ Even written by the same guy, the plots seem to nearly overlap.

palaeologus palaeologus says...

The same producers and staff, some of the same voice talent, a similar magical girl theme = one of the closest "kinship" relationships among anime.

kincokinco kincokinco says...

Both have the same director, and the first episode has the same feeling and scenarios as the first episode of Please Teacher. So if you love'd Please Teacher you are going to love Ano Natsu de Matteru or vice versa :]

Turak Turak says...

Almost the same shows.  Similar characters, plot, ect.  Even the character designs are similar.  If you enjoyed one, you'll enjoy the other, even with them being so very similar.

Avrgeboy123 Avrgeboy123 says...

they have a similar storyline--alien from space falls in love with boy from earth. Visual similarities are astonishing however this doesn't mean it is a repeat of onegai sensei. There are subtle differences that make it worth watching

Doomoo Doomoo says...

Think of Ano Natus De Matteru as the director's second shot at Please Teacher. this time with a better story, better animation, better soundtrack and better everything else. It's still not top notch but it's certainly worth the watch. It might as well be named Please Teacher 2.0

If you liked Please Teacher check this out for a very very similar anime of higher quality and entertainment.

FFS, even one of the character is the same, 'forever 17' remenber, it's the president which is shown in please twins!! also, it's in summer as well as next to a lake.

Everything is almost the same such as plot and setting

the only main difference is the main characters' public relationship.

lugiamew007 lugiamew007 says...

Please Teacher was the first series that came to my mind when I watched Ano Natsu de Matteru. Almost everything was similar, including the characters.

abunai abunai says...

In terms of style and storytelling, as well as much of the basic plot, Ano Natsu is a close cousin of the Onegai series (both Teacher and Twins). Many of the characters bear a strong resemblance, in terms of design and personality, and the conflicts that carry the story are much the same. It's safe to say that, if you enjoyed the Onegai series, you will enjoy Ano Natsu, and vice versa.

JAhU JAhU says...

Want to watch another series with an alien girlfriend? Why not try Ano Natsu de Matteru.

It was made by the same guy as Onegai Teacher (and thus shares many similarities with it), it's generally better executed, has better visuals, less dull characters and less fanservice. On the other hand there is plenty of drama and the story had a few weaker parts (mostly in the last few episodes).

Rfsancho Rfsancho says...

They are essentially one and the same show. Natsu Matteru is just a bit remodeled, that's all.

ofall ofall says...

When I started watching Ano Natsu de Matteru, I started feeling nostalgic immediately and the feeling continued thoughout. The main differenc between these two is that in Please Teacher, he knew and in Ano Natsu he dosn't. The characters are almost exactly the same, and many of the plot twists are similar.

Alien Girl falling in love with a Earth boy, love triangles and a very common storyline bind these two animes together

Paladinexcorsist Paladinexcorsist says...

Great anime about a boy who falls in love with his teacher after accedintly marrying her. The main character is the type of guy who goes in a stand still moment where he is paralyzed for a long time, he has already been in one for 4 years. Will he go in a stand still once agian?

Jayage Jayage says...

Ano Natsu de Matteru and Please Teacher are pretty much the same show the plot, characters and even style feels the sames. Both are about a Red heading ailen girl that wears glasses falling in love with a human male that wears glasses. Both animes also have alot of love triangles and were written by the same person. The only difference between the two is in Ano Natsu de Matteru the main girl is a student and in Please Teacher the main girl is a teacher.

this anime really is like a duplicate of Onegai teacher since the setting is in summer, the girl which is the alien is older and has a weird pet to control or teleport her to wherever and whenever. it is also set in summer for both animes and the main characters have similar features such as wearing glasses and they both are small.

Luffy411 Luffy411 says...

The plots as well as some charcters are very similar and both shows give off the same feeling. A nice alien/human romance that affects and changes the realationships of the people around them. I really enjoyed both!

HKBattosai HKBattosai says...

If you liked Please Teacher or Waiting in the Summer, then you'd also like the other because both are romance anime featuring slightly older alien female main characters (MC) who happen to fall for the younger male MC. Plus, both male MC's suffer from an unusual illness that can only be helped by the alien technology. If you end watching both then it is easy to see the similarities almost instantly.

LoneRaven LoneRaven says...

Contains the same romantic atmosphere as Onegai Teacher however, the way the romance develops is somewhat more conceivable. It has a unique twist and also leaves you with the warm and fuzzy feeling after watching the anime.

FINSahaqiel FINSahaqiel says...

Very similar idea and plot structure. This is like Onegai Teacher with aliens replaced with goddesses.

extent extent says...

A similar theme of a guy getting in a relationship with some one out of this world and people getting in thie way

NekoRocket NekoRocket says...

Ah! Megami-sama and Onegai Teacher are both outlandish romantic anime series about a typical loser character getting together with a truly wonderful woman. A bit contrived, but a staple in anime, sure to please hopeless romantics and fanboys alike.

CheesyP18 CheesyP18 says...

I pretty much agree with everyone else that has made a recommendation. Start with shy student. Enter supernatural hot female, take your pick, alien or goddess. BAM! You got some chemistry going. Each series has its own nice romantic touch to it but in its basic elements they are the same. These series complement each other well.

Stmated Stmated says...

Young boy meets a mysterious woman, and their relationship starts of with a bang almost in the beginning. Both boys in the series are shy to start with, but learns to handle the "relationship" after a while.

sublime sublime says...

Another romance story fighting against all the odds. A shy bloke finds himself unexpectedly living with a woman, throw in the magical/out of this world element and you have the premise for a good comedy/romance.

kamirura kamirura says...

Mystic girls appearing from nowhere and young cute guys totally obsessed with them? then this is what you are looking for. Onegai teatcher is abit more ecchi than Ah! my goddess but still really alike

matuser matuser says...

Please Teacher and Ah My Goddess are very similar anime in the way they build feelings and relationships between the two main characters, who ended up together totally unplanned. Like in Please Teacher!, troubles are afoot and many awkward scenes await them in AMG, but a happy ending prevails over any obstacle.

jholovacs jholovacs says...

Both of these stories are about a poor and useless sap who finds himself guiltlessly in a long-term, intimate one-on-one relationship with someone way out of his league.

They are different in the fact that Please Teacher has a progressive story line, where Ah! My Goddess tends to be more episodic with smaller plot arcs.

palaeologus palaeologus says...

Many parallels between the two love stories that other posters have noted (nonhuman but beautiful female makes contract with ordinary male human, followed by visits from nonhuman older relative and nonhuman bratty imouto-chan and by an eventual separation crisis), but two things rarely mentioned are (1) the female love interest in both is voiced (in Japanese) by Inoue Kikuko, and (2) Hiroaki Gouda was heavily involved in the production of both (he directed OMG and was the character designer for Please Teacher). Sure, Please Teacher is a little more H, but the look and feel of the two series are just so similar -- partially because some of the same people made them happen.

dstarfire dstarfire says...

In both these series a college student

finds their life suddenly changed for the better after a chance encounter with a beautiful woman who later becomes their love interest. Also, the main characters are very similar

Larkawolfgirl Larkawolfgirl says...

Both of these shows involve a normal guy suddenly having a strange girl trown into their life. The girls are also both stuck with them and closely. Both have great comedy about their strungle to get closer as couples. Also in both they must keep the girl's idetity a secreat. Both are full of laughs, sweet moments, and cuteness.

neutrino neutrino says...

Sudden-girlfriend-appearance, misunderstandings forcing the main characters to live together, and otherworldly beings showing up on the protagonist's doorstep, what could be more similar?!

hamletsmage hamletsmage says...

Young man sees a woman literally drop out of the sky, then through strange circumstances, ends up living with her. The relationships are a tad more mature than others you'll find in the romance tag. Both anime also include a fairly interesting side cast, so look for some side romances or other tomfoolery.

If you enjoyed watching Onegai Teatcher you will problary like Love Hina too. Abit more ecchi than Onegai teatcher but really funny. The guy ends up with alot of girls that make him get in trouble.

sublime sublime says...

More of the comedy/romance genre that always seems to be a great hit in anime. Again another "guy in unusual circumstances plot" in both Onegai Teacher and Love Hina. Angtsy romance situations mean you'll never get bored with either series.

NekoRocket NekoRocket says...

Cute geeky guy with glasses finds the love of his life in a very peculiar manner. A very typical anime plot device finds a perfect home in both Love Hina and Onegai Teacher. Both of these series feature in-depth love stories with a plethora of obstacles. You'll laugh, you'll cry... :)

kamenoko kamenoko says...

Though it is a harem comedy, Love Hina shares a lot of the plot elements of Onegai Teacher. From the misunderstandings, the jealous younger sister, and the non descript male lead, one lends itself well to the other.

AnimeUnrivaled AnimeUnrivaled says...

Both Love Hina and Please Teacher are quirky romances with a healthy dose of ecchi humor. The lead males both prove to be the same kind of nerdy/geeky guys who gets into an interesting relationship with a beautiful girl and seem to run into nothing but problems constantly. Both series have you laughing most of the time. The rest of the time you'll be frustrated or just plain sad because of the lead's dillemma. These are recommended for one another not simly because they're similar, but because any fan of one is likely to be very entertained by the other.

AnimeScout00x AnimeScout00x says...

Well, you started with one fun girl in Onegai Teacher, well now there is an apartment full of them!  You are going to love this one because it's mostly comedic and has lots of romantic scenes between the two main characters in most episodes.  By the way, it does have some ECHII included too!

I'm kind of in the process of watching Love Hina, but the characters remind me of the characters in Please Teacher. Both have good storylines to me.

freakzilla freakzilla says...

Love Hina and Please Teacher should appeal to the same people. Both are lighthearted series where comedy is the main drive, have a small romance story to get things going, and have a bit of ecchi (as is usual in this genre). Things are about to liven up, as our main characters are in for a lot of hazardous situations!

daniel44044 daniel44044 says...

Both Love Hina and Please Teacher have a great mix of romance, love and humor that will please everyone. In addition, both have a good and romantic story that has a little bit of humor to keep you hooked until the end.

Obxist Obxist says...

Both Onegai Teacher and Love Hina is a love story. Both of them got the drama and both of them got comedy + a little ecchi. Even though theres some different kind of story love in here but i believe these two is the most similar amongst anime. Dont forget to watch the other if you liked one.

cartmanbeck cartmanbeck says...

These two anime are all about the perverted young man who finds himself in a situation where several beautiful, busty women want to be with him. Both involve some measure of public disgust to the situation the young man is in (in Onegai Teacher he's married to his high school teacher, and in Love Hina he's the manager of an all-girl's dorm). Finally, they're both full of pantyshots, uncomfortable situations for the main character, and breasts breasts breasts. If you like one, you'll invariably like the other.

Pain Pain says...

If you like the shojo anime so both of them are your best choice. Please Teacher is a romantic story between a student and his teacher. Ther's only a detail, his teacher is an alien!!! Love Hina, otherwise, is the story of Keitaro Urashima, a student that wants to go to study at the university of Tokyo because of a promise to an other girl when he was 4. So his grandmother leaves him the job of guardian of the female dormitory Hina for mantaining his studies. What will happen in a place where are living 6 girls and one man??

Both of these include a boy that has to hide his relationship because of various reasons. While he would rather spend time with her alone, there is at least one other girl vying for his attentions. Both anime take a more mature look at romance, but do include a decent amount of silliness from time-to-time.

Green Green and Onegai Teacher (Please Teacher) have very similar themes. The undercurrents of romance are constant, and the perverted humor is never far off. Be warned though: some of the episodes have some nudity, and the Green Green OVA is borderline hentai, so it's not for the young.

freakzilla freakzilla says...

Both Onegai Teacher and Green Green contain their share of ecchi, romance and comedy. Despite that not being an uncommon mix, it is somewhat uncommon for this genre to have a romance story that manages to pull you in.

Both anime fit nicely into the "magical girl" genre, featuring an unlikely male protagonist with his fair share of problems who, by a twist of fate, meets the love of his life -- a more or less perfect girl from a different world who slowly helps him surmount his personal problems and realize his own admirable inner qualities. The stories focus on similar elements: the turbulences of their relationship, the concealment of the girl's true identity, annoying younger sisters, and the growth of the characters. Both anime have their comic and tear-jerking moments, and leave the viewer with a warm feeling inside. While many would argue that the storyline in Ah! My Goddess is more fully developed, Please Teacher does have a more conclusive ending!

Onegai Teacher strikes me as a rather poor imitation of Ah! My Goddess. A beautiful woman improbably appears in the life of an awkward young man. They end up living together, but they can't seem to make a romantic connection. You also may notice that the female leads have the same voice.

Despite the overt similarities, I found AMG to have more fully formed characters and themes. So if you like Onegai Teacher I suspect you will like AMG even more; that is, if you somehow haven't seen it already.

rdaniels rdaniels says...

The premise of both of these shows is that of a beautiful, out-of-this world woman and regular guy meeting and falling in love.  Both focus mostly on the relationship between the two leads, instead of bringing in a harem of other girls fighting for attention.  Neither show uses ecchi as a crutch to sell the show, although Please Teacher does contain more than AMG.
