Both of these Animes (and mangas) main characters are extremely overpowered compared to other creatures and aren't human. Both of these overpowered creatures rule over others.

MyBoiLuffy MyBoiLuffy says

Both of them have a MC that is overpowered AF. Both of them were human but are not anymore. Both of the MC rule over others that are also powerful. Although Overlord is a dude going into a game and this is about a guy dying and reincarnating in another world.

thor123 thor123 says

Both of these feature a human MC who becomes an OP monster in another world, after which they start building a country / expanding their influence using their human intelligence and a number of strong servants.

Havent watched much of YS or read the LN yet, but after the 2nd episode...it reminds me of Overlord; MC in both are dubiously heroic, OP and transported to a "strange" world. Oh, and magic.

Hobgoblin Hobgoblin says

They both feature the transported to another world and given another body plot points( which I'm a sucker for ) and feature theme of comradeship and loyalty, while letting the protagonist be analytical, intellectual and physical bad asses in their new bodies.

The key appeal between the two is that the protagonist are not only noticeably similar but different as well. They both want to thrive in their new worlds, but one tries to act above the traits of human emotions for themselves while being unsure of what to keep, if any thing at all. The other tries to hold on to as much as they can due to their new body causing to become less of a natural response, and only acts above it for people he find himself with in his new world. Both start in a place of scepticism, but one find a place of happiness and hope while the other is pushed into mad hatred.

Also the ascetics of their environment as well as how they mix their own brands of fantasy into that and their time periods is very nicely done.

Watch both because both are really good anime. Tanya the Evil and Overlord have similar but the execution is a thing of beauty.

Littlesilverwolf Littlesilverwolf says

Both anime are isekai genre where the mc have unacceptable apperance towards the local in the isekai world. Both mc build their own country.

Meizzey Meizzey says

Monsters and super fun!

They are all OP of course!

They are really enjoyable!

Both MCs are (former) humans who transmigrated to another world.
