LadyCacti LadyCacti says...

If you like OHSHC or Kiss Him Not Me, you're sure to like the other! Both animes are reverse harems with an interesting female lead with an actual personality(something that isn't common in most reverse harems) with great comedy and quirky characters. Granted, in OHSHC the male characters are the more unusual characters, whereas it is the opposite in kiss him not me, with the male characters seeming normal in comparison to the main character. Enjoy!

hamletsmage hamletsmage says...

If you liked the reverse harem, almost BL scenes, the cosplay, the school life, and off-the-wall characters... Well, you're in for a treat. One takes place in an elite academy, the other stars an otaku... Either way, worlds are about to collide in these matching reverse harems. Like one, try the other.

AcchanXD AcchanXD says...

It is both about a girl who gets herself dragged into a reversed harem. In both anime's there is boy x boy love. both are funny in their own way!

jameswarrensaid jameswarrensaid says...

Though the stories and animation style are different, both of these animes feature reverse harems, dynamic female protagonists, and cute boys willing to do whatever it takes to win her love!

If you're interested in funny, slice-of-life anime that's lighthearted and sweet, OHSHC and Kiss Him Not Me are the pinnacle of the genre.

Reverse harem with great characters loving that one female who has has a big heart. Both are really funny as well.

Both revolve around a young, somewhat oblivious teenage girl stuck in a situation of admirers. They are very cute and light-hearted anime.

Both have a lot of attractive guys with unique personalities and a lot of humor. Kiss Him, Not Me is definitely geared more towards girls but I think the type of comedy of both is similar.

NasalaEdItS NasalaEdItS says...

Kiss Him Not Me is as you know a reverse harem just like Ouran Highschool Host Club. Both anime involve an otaku, romance, friendship, and so much comedy you'll fall off the bed.In my personal opinion if you're looking for a better romance story I'd recommend Ouran Highschool Host Club,it has a flawless storyline beiginning to end it is a pity it doesn't have a season 2.Both anime are also very relatable whether it me debt, school life, otaku life,or just life in general.

IGuess IGuess says...

Both series are full of comedy with some hints of romance. Both are reverse harems, and each guy has a different personality compared to the others.

ayyysh ayyysh says...

Both are reverse harems with a fun female lead who's just trying to live her life when her harem appears and changes everything. One's a fujoshi/otaku and the other is surrounded but fujosji and otaku themes. Both of the stories are super funny and just a cute fun time. Both sub and dub are great and make you laugh. All in all great plots would recommend you watch the other if you've watched one of them!

caitlin3435 caitlin3435 says...

The reason I have chosen this anime is that they are both similar in many ways. Like they are both romances and contain BL. The only difference is that one is a love triangle and the other isn't I believe. Another difference is that Kiss Him, Not Me is just normal students that aren't rich or anything. A similar thing that makes it the same is that each of the protagonists has different personalities.

Ouran and Azumanga share the same quirky sense of humor and adorable qualities of its characters. Botha re very funny in a lax way and will entertain anyone in my honest opinion.

Both animes give you a slice of life from the view of high school students with comedy as a main factor in each show. If you enjoy one of them you will enjoy the other.

Fietsemaker Fietsemaker says...

Both series revolve around a wacky bunch of high school sudents that may seem odd at first (well, maybe they are) but in the end, you'll love every single one of them. These series make excellent use of a cast of common anime stereotypes to create humorous situations, but in the end you'll learn that even these characters have depth.

Slice of life and random humor aplenty, both Ouran and Azumanga Daoi will keep you entertained to the end.

If your looking for a Comedy/Slice of Life anime that is full of a memorable cast and quirky characters your in the right place. These high school Comedy animes are both episodic, so picking up any episode with friends will be sure to bring out great fun.

Both share a slight randomness as well as humour evoked from stark contrasts in characters.  Azumanga Daioh is far more plotless, but both provide brilliant standalone episodes and timeless comedy.

Omurqi Omurqi says...

While Azumanga is definitely the most random of the two, both shows have a wacky and random sense of humor. They are both about the life of a group of students and how they get into crazy situations, or turn completely normal ones into something bizarre. Azumanga Daioh and Ouran High School Host Club are alot alike. Both Azumanga Daioh and Ouran High School Host Club share a plot in high school and revolve around high school students. Not only do they relate in that sense but they also relate in their humor and randomisity. Both animations take what seems to be every day events and twist them into comedic events. Azumanga Daioh and Ouran High School Host Club also both have good animation and good character development.

If you liked Ouran High School Host Club, you'd also like Hana Yori Dango, because they're both about a female character entering an elite private school that is full of rich kids. There are harems and reverse harems in both.

MaddenLeeBrown MaddenLeeBrown says...

Similar to Ouran High School Host Club, Hana Yori Dango is about a girl who enters a school full of rich students in high social classes. The main character in both stories is surrounded by arrogant male figures. Both have romance, though one may be more subtle than the other. If you think Ouran High School Host Club has a moment of enjoyable intensity, you'll love Hana Yori Dango for it is full of it.

soccerdory soccerdory says...

Both animes are based on reverse harems. Even more than that, each series is based on a teenage girl who is poor, yet somehow ends up attending a high school for the super rich and elite. As such, they both face a lot of obstacles, and their strong spirits and wills to continue ultimately lead to their success. Both series provides us with laughs and of course a little bit of romance. Hana Yori Dango has a little bit more romance, and at times can be sad, which is a little different from the always hilarious and comedic Ouran. I'd say that if you liked one, you'll the love the other as well! ^^

redfire389 redfire389 says...

both series show us the difficult life of the rich people, and how their lifes affect their love lifes, not being able to decide by themselves. While Ouran is more funny and less dramatic than HYD they treat the same problems and have the same twists between the realationship of the main characters. They show greatly the differences between two different kind of lifes, the rich and the poor, differences like the food, the houses, marriages, etc. And all of this in a high school atmosphere. You'll surely like on if you liked the other.

MariJine MariJine says...

Both heroines in each anime are very identifiable in their desire to lead a normal high school life. However, that wish is changed when they, unfortunately at first, encounter the schools groups of rich boys. Although their personalities and values are total opposites of eachother, the changes brought about through their interactions provide an interestingly comedic story. As romance develops as well, girls would find themselves desiring to be one of the brave heroines!

fairygump13 fairygump13 says...

Both animes have the same type of main female character who has financial issues but for some reason or the other is in a school with very rich students. It's pretty much a reverse harem. Even though Hana Yori Dango is a much older anime they both have wholesome and heartfelt characters. Be prepared to have a marathon because once you start watching you can't stop xD

sabutaatti sabutaatti says...

Welcome to the whealty school my dear countrypumpkin. Here you can see people who are coming from very very rich families and some of them don't like you because they know that you are from the poor family but what you care about the richeness: studying is the only thing which you know and maybe enjoying your highschooldays keeping low profile but be prepared....you maybe are strong-willed and handy in the tight situations but one thing there is which you cannot avoid: In this school theres group of the boys which steals every girls heart - maybe yours too or you them...

unicornconspiracy unicornconspiracy says...

Both stories revolve around a female main character who finds herself surrounded by rich, mostly male, kids, plus a rather clueless, vain male main character.

daisy2332 daisy2332 says...

If you liked Ouran High School Host Club you would like Hana Yori Dango because they both share the reverse harem private school setting with a poor, down-to-earth female protagonist. They are both very funny, though Hana Yori Dango is more dramatic and the character types are less exaggerated.

trottolina trottolina says...

One line pitch for both?  Normal girl attends elevator school (up and including university) for the very rich, and gets involved with a group of privilged boys.  Romance is not very far away!

Hana Yori Dango is a classic Shoujo anime, and in fact could be called a trope codifier for the genre.  Ouran on the other hand takes a lot of these tropes and subverts them.  Both stories have heart though, and will reward viewers who love romantic comedy anime.

taye taye says...

While the two do have similar plots of a 'common' girl being thrown into a super rich school full of hot guys, the similarities run a bit deeper than that.

I feel that, at the core, both stories are supremely innocent and beautiful. Tamaki and Domyouji are two completely contrasting characters as male leads, however they both have this child-like naivety about them, which complement each anime's plot. This definitely runs truer with the manga versions, however the core values are still there in the adaptations.

They also, of course, both have beautiful romances between the leads. Unfortuneatly, with only 26 episodes (that focused heavily on every other character), Ouran didn't really get to explore Tamaki and Haruhi's relatioship in a way that was true to the manga. They didn't do a bad job - it was still there - there just simply wasn't enough of it. Hana Yori Dango had the advantage of focusing on Makino and Domyouji (and Rui, I suppose), which allowed them to portray the timeless romance to (almost) its full potential.

Both are timeless Japanese classics in their own genre, and while Ouran may not be considered as 'high brow', it has it's own genius about it that viewers of Hana Yori Dango will definitely appreciate.

As for differences? Ouran, in my opinion, has better characters. All of them, especially when explored in the manga, and three-dimensional and complement each other beautifully. Hana Yori Dango, on the other hand, has the better love story of the two. There is a reason it has been, and will continue to be, adapted again and again.

Ouran also has more of that classic 'anime' comedy that is completely over-the-top. But I find that each time I rewatch the series, the funnier its silly jokes get. As you grow older, I think, you begin to appreciate the campiness of it. Hana Yori Dango, on the other hand, draws it's comedy mainly from dialogue and the conflicting nature of the leads.

As I said, though, both are classics in their own rights. If you are a lover of one, I doubt you'll be disappointed with the other.

Also, if you have not done do, I would highly recommend the live drama version of HYD (better than the anime, possibly even the manja). Watch it in Japanese, and then go to Korean adaptation. Both are very good, albeit with different strengths. Ouran's live drama attempt was....well, it was an attempt. They had a nice Kyouya scene in there for the beach episode. I'd probably be inclined to watch it just for that, if I were you.

Ouran High School Host Club and Vampire Knight are both fun animes that take place in a different kind of high school setting.  Rather than regular run-of-the-mills high school, these animes aim to add a little bit of spice to their setting - whether it be through super hot vampire students or super hot host club students.  If you liked one, be sure to check out the other.

Despite their different story lines, the ouline is similar including the self discovery of the female lead and her romantic life. Both also contain comedy, which wasn't expected in Vampire Knight

Both anime are set in a high school with a twist. The storylines are different but the characters are similar and the humour is brilliant.

The two main female characters have a similar vibe and both have super handsome boys fawning over them. Both anime take place in an extraordinary school setting, one the Night Class of Vampire Knight, the other the Host Club or Ouran High School. Both feature an eccentric dad character as well.
