A black and white monochromatic background describes the color scheme for the 1940's animation: Osaru no Sankichi: Boukuusen. Imagine soaring the skies on an aircraft with the slogan: Protect our sky! The best defense is offense!

This classic animation depicts combat monkies trying to protect their skies with aerial fights. Instrumental music plays with no dialogue throughout the show.

I mainly watched this to see the dramatic progression of animation from the early 1940s to the modern day era. It's nice to see how much technology has evolved and advanced throughout the passage of time. It's nice to compare older animations to see how we take modern technology for granted.

This is probably one of the oldest entries on this site. Obviously we can't really judge it based on its animation or sound given just how old it is. However, I think shorts like this are extremely interesting to analyze on more of a historical basis. It really almost gives you a peak into the state of Japan during WWII and what the propaganda looks like. I also like to compare and contrast things like this to say, old Disney cartoons. I am unsure of why this is rated as low as it is, perhaps just due to the quality of the animation itself? In my opinion, old shorts like this can start a lot of important conversations.

7/10 or 3.5 out of 5 stars. I believe stuff like this is very important to the history of not only anime, but Japan itself.

P.S. I literally stumbled across this by a literal misclick while searching something else. Became interested due to how old it is. It was also surprisingly easy to find.
