At age 10, best friends Musashi and Kojiro sat in excited silence as Kojiro's father spun tales of evil demons who preyed on the innocent, and the warriors who defeated them. Practicing swordplay, the two swear an oath to become the strongest in the world. But as they grow up, Kojiro turns cynical, and Musashi comes to realize that he can't turn back 150 years of demon rule on his own. He's being called a prodigy with a pickaxe, and he's almost ready to settle for a life of labor. Yet he can't shake the feeling that he still has a responsibility to act…and, soon, the injustices of his world will force his hand…

Listen not every anime is going to rock your world. In truth there are really only so many "all-time favorites" for anyone. But this one does have a good story to tell. Is it annoying at times how clueless the main character is, sure. But I found myself annoyed at many anime protagonists. What I don't always get is annoyed at how long it seems to be for the next week's episode to air because the story pace is so slow. That really is the case here. This series depends heavily on episode "cliff-hangers" which starts to become frustrating as time goes by. Cliffhangers should be arc ending based or major plot line moment. So I found the pacing quite frustrating.  Non-Spoiler Summary to episode 16- Very generalized at that: In a nutshell. A very slow burn paced anime/manga. Awkward boy with no family, has a dream too big for him alone, a friend closer than family joins him on the dream journey, they meet hot girls with a few badass moves, get in some supernatural fights, meet lots of crazy over the top personalities and hot guys along the way too. The new group comes into contact with some predictable God level enemies, and the dumbass main character continues to get in over his head both blinded by idealist dreams and true deep-rooted sense of justice that allows him to make the right choice when morals are involved. He accepts people for who they are, is very forgiving and seeks a better world. Oh and gets possessed by a goddess along the way. Humiliated by powerful people, accepted by powerful allies and slowly learns about his own true power while helping friends. Supernatural fights get bigger and bigger, as more cool moves get revealed. There ya go. It absolutely will not rock your world. But if your bored with all your other manga/anime. This one is not bad.
