What mostly captures the eye in these both anime is that art is similar and the two main couples of these anime looks somehow really similar. Also both of the main female characters where really friendly to others and where really attached to their friends. And the main male characters had some issues and something dark deep secrets inside their hearts. Both of the anime have nice dramatic feel which can make you really emotional.

If you liked one you should like the other because both have a love triangle that gets impacted by an emotional tradgedy and they also have the same style of sadness as we see how characters deal with their friends potential death, even if orange spreads it out more than your lie in april

Kimi ni Todoke and Orange

Both of these animes have a cute love story which captures the innocence of first love. The female leads Sawako and Naho both are shy and love the male lead from the very start of the series. As the series develop the male leads fall in love with the female leads.

Importantly, both these series have sensible yet refreshing plots.

It has your typical trope of a shy girl falling for the popular guy and the popular guy actually falls for her too. Not to mention, the adorable B-couple -- another couple in the same circle of friends who are as cute (or cuter) as the main couple. I watched Kimi ni Todoke before Orange and oh boy, the connection was so close that I would often mix names up.
