While I myself have never had a landlord that was younger than their 30s, and while I question the reason behind a middle-school-age landlord, this anime was just so cute. Story: There's a lot of questions I have about the story. Like, how did a middle-school student come to run an apartment complex? Did the food club have an endless budget? Was this really a loli-love anime? Unfortunately, I didn't get the answers to these questions. However, I did get to watch some pretty cute stories that would appeal to both young girls and loli-lovers.  Animation: For a short-episode series, the animation was very good. I particularly liked the opening sequence, and a lot of the detail thrown into things like the bentos, the food club's stew, and a few other things. Is it on par with some of the other animation from this season? I would say yes, in it's own unique way.  Sound: The OP was cute, and I liked the voice actors they got for the various characters. No one really seemed out of place in this anime.  Characters: There were 3 main characters, the landlord and two of her tenants, and then some supporting characters beind the landlord's classmates. But, due to the nature of a short-episode anime, a lot of character development had to be lost due to time constraints. While the landlord herself is very detailed, the other characters are fairly bland.  Overal: Cute. Short. I wouldn't have qualms about watching it again.

Seven Arcs’ 2016 slice-of-life comedy has such a generic plot that you would think it would be terribly samey. Yet it mostly defies the odds in becoming a finely executed little show noteworthy for being high enjoyable. Each of the twelve episodes is only two minutes long yet it manages to pack in quite a lot of story. We love the fact that the English translation of this title is "The Landlord is in Puberty". Quite why middle-schooler Chie Satonaka is the landlady of this apartment block is never explained. We join her story at the point a new tenant Maeda moves in. He is mystified and quite charmed by the little girl but his female neighbour Reiko Shirai initially doesn’t trust him. Yet as the story moves on at rapid pace the three of them become quite close like flat-mates. Little Chie ends up cooking and cleaning for the adults and they end up sharing their living spaces in the manner of a close-knit family. The show is very heart-warming, charming and funny. Chie is not only trying very hard to run the apartment block – she also has a challenge making friends at school. In this her new “family” help her out as best they can. This adaption of the four-panel manga series written and illustrated by Rurou Minase is well made and deserved much longer treatment. It is all over so very quickly leaving you wishing for more. Sweet as a nut. Recommended if you have just twenty-four minutes to kill! Very cute.

Should you watch: no Ooya-san wa Shishunki! Is based off a 4 panel manga from 2012, which explains why each episode after removing the ending is only 90 seconds. It’s supposed to be a comedy but it isn’t very funny. STORY: The story revolves around Maeda, who moves into a new apartment complex to find out that his landlord, Chie Satonaka, is a girl in middle school. An interesting topic, but surprisingly she doesn’t do anything landlordish or mature. I felt that there could have been a lot of comedic value in her trying to do adult things but failing, instead the story revolves around her trying to complete some mundane task usually in school, such as cooking. I give it props since it is hard to tell a story in 90 seconds, but overall the story is bland and boring. ANIMATION: For a short it really good, all the characters have this moeish look to them, but extremely well done. I would say it is a 8 but do to the fact that the male main character is drawn so poorly I am stuck giving it a 7. SOUND: There wasn’t anything good and I found the ending song to be annoying, but that could be due to the fact it popped up every 2 minutes. CHARACTERS: They don’t really go into any characters except the landlord, but she is acceptable. Like I said earlier if it wasn’t just a typical girl trying to daily stuff maybe they would have been able to do something. OVERALL: I give it a 6 (bottom 40%). If you want to watch a funny short comedy then elsewhere (Ojisan and Marshmallow is what you should look at). This was just bland, but it didn’t make my eyes bleed, so if you have 20 minutes to kill, it would too awful to watch.
