One Piece, albeit being hated by a LOT out there for the reason that it is too mainstream, is one if not the best anime/manga out there. Trust me this reputation is not out of nothingness.

Let's start off with the plot:

One Piece's plot is so unique and different, it's pretty much impossible to predict what will happen (except the fact that the protagonist beats the villain eventually, it's shounen after all). The plot follows the journye of Monkey D. Luffy, a teenager who ate a unique fruit that made him into a rubber man. LITERALLY, his entire body can stretch Yes even his genitals can stretch. Along his journey, he encounters and recruits many veteran pirates who each serve a certain purpose aboard his ship. A swordsman, a chef, a navigator, a sniper, an archaelogoist, a shipwright, a doctor and a musician with him as the captain.

He then encounters many dangers in his journey to explore the GRAND LINE including fearsome pirates, marines and self-proclaimed gods, saving his comrades and making new ones through his adventures. He then goes into a full out war alongside the most powerful pirate in that era to save his imprisoned brother from being executed by the world government.

Characters:

One Piece, with it's ridiculous length has a long roaster of characters, each and every one of them is so unique from the other it's hard to mix up twins. Each character also has their own unique laugh. Some of those laughs include Luffy's "Shishishishi." Caesar Clown's "Shurorororo~" And the most famous of them, Brook's "Yohohohohoho~".

The Straw Hat pirates, the main focus of the series have a variety of characters and personalities, such as Zoro who is a laid-back individual aspiring to become the best swordsman in the world, he has a horrible sense of direction and when left alone, always gets lost. Nami, a beautiful young girl with the ambition of drawing a map of the whole world. Sanji, a perverted chef who wants to go to the All-Blue a mysterous sea where fish from all over the world gather in order to cook the finest fish, and others.

Animation:

The animation of One Piece had a really bad start, the graphics were very unpleasing to the eye and the colors were always off, there was little to no shadow works but the animation of the graphics themselves was flawless. Starting from the Water 7 saga episode 207, the animation changes drastically, becoming more pleasing to the eye and the graphics look more vivid. It also adopts the new 16:9 screen ratio with 720p HD pictures. Starting then, the show goes through several changes in the animation style until the Sabaody Archipelago arc where from then onwards, the animation style remains the same up until now.

So overall, One Piece might be long with now over 700 episodes, but believe me once you start watching it and pick up from the Water 7 saga and onwards, you will not be able to stop yourself from watching it.

I avoided watching this show for years because It is too long and I barely have spare time.I got bored during quarantine so I decided watching animes but I quickly finishes it.My friend always tells me to watch it because it's his favorite and finally I started watching the long waiting OP in watch list. During the first 30 episodes I already got hooked because of it's moral lessons and touching backstory. When I reached the 100 ep mark I was so happy then I told myself that I must follow the strawhats' adventure and guess what I was able to catch up in 2 months.I am really happy to watch this show💯

I'm not going to lie, if you want to watch this anime, then you'll have to suck it up for the first 30 or so episodes. At first, I dropped this anime because I thought this was the dumbest thing ever. I thought the powers, plot, and artwork were atrocious. I recently started watching this again and felt the same way at first. Then, BAM!!!!! Out of nowhere this anime got epic. It was so good I couldn't stop watching it. I would stay up until 2 in the morning watching this, my GPA dropped from a 4.0 to a 3.2, I've gained 20 lbs, and I regret nothing. The story is so good you'll be sitting in your seat when the plot twist goes down and you'll be like "HOT DAMN!!!" and "WTF?" You never know what is going to happen next. One thing I had a problem with was the artwork, but after a while you'll get used to it and the artwork gets better. If you are on the fence about watching this, or were like me and stopped watching it, then pick up that ipad or computer and get watching now.

Don't bee fooled into thinking this is another typical shonen, or kid show, it's got the insane plot, insane battles, great characters, stellar animation and development, It just might take 150-300 episodes for you to fully realize it, and it only gets better, seriously.
