One wonders why it took diomedea three years to determine that the Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu project needed to have some loose ends in the 'awkward rich girl in love with the shy poor boy' premise.  Finale (2012) is more a curtain call for the cast of characters developed in the two seasons which mixed up the elements of campy and risqué.  There continues the stream of panty shots and the female form in scanty dress (if that much [or less]).  Finale covers three plotlines which was percolating in the Himitsu and Purezza seasons: Shiina finally gets up the nerve to confess her love to Yuuto.  How will this affect the bond between Yuuto and Haruka? We finally learn why Haruka was keeping her otaku leanings a secret in her new school, and how her three old classmates were coerced into shunning Haruka. Finally, the status between Haruka and Yuuto forces the rich girl into an arranged marriage.  This leads to a battle-royale which involves all those girls and guys, maids and minions, all to discover how deep and abiding is the love twixt Yuuto and Haruka. In the end, all the loose ends are connected with Yuuto and Haruka happily together (despite the efforts of parents Akiho and Gentou ... heh, heh), Shiina falling for a new beau in that panty-shot tradition of hers, and all the people so down on manga, anime and Comiket vanquished. The four episodes made no improvements on the animation, still working in the steamy stuff using the pale pastel palette.  The ecchi was played up as little sister Maki's vivid imagination of what was going on behind closed doors ... never what it seems, only embarrassing situations. But Finale had all the aspects of a hastily put together run of four episodes.  So-so musical themes, predictable resolutions (yeah, yeah, the last battle episode ... so contrived it's ridiculous), and tendencies toward the lurid.  It makes one happy about the ending ... because it's the ending.
