I love the show the only problem is that even though I know the slightest bit of Japanese I still like it English dubbed but I can't seem to get it dubbed. that about it really.

The title seems pretty misleading to me.  It is supposed to be about Ninjas but, I really do not see any in the show.  The show's star figure, Naruto, is further from being a Ninja than Jerry Lewis.  According to one Ninjitsu master, it is the art of combining martial combat with tactical and strategic intellect or in other words, thinking combat.  Nothing is further from Naruto than this concept.  According to the Oxford Dictionary, it is the art of steath or espionage.  This also is no where near what Naruto is.  I have seen blaring high school bands with more stealth capability than Naruto.  He is loud, obnoxious, clumsy, and idiotic and sadly therefore, no ninja.  Perhaps the very idea he is a ninja is part of some joke the creators make on the viewers?  What else puzzles me is how shaky Naruto's skills are.  One epsiode he has learned to be somewhat smart, cunning, and crafty and a very powerful fighter, and a couple episodes later he seems to totally forget all those experiences or that he has any such abilities.  Sure the other characters' skills seem to flex some in a similar way but none as much as Naruto's.  It is a fun show to watch, but at times it is also painful.  It is painful to watch how utterly stupid Naruto behaves or how cocky and self centered that he acts like no rules apply to him.  Other painful moments happen when villains are treated like nice guys who never did anything wrong like the episode with Raiga and Rasumaru or when Sasuke turns tail and betrays everyone as if nothing about his past meant a thing let alone his family's sake or honor.  All that b.s. about wanting revenge for Sasuke, is just that, b.s. because it is clear to me he does not actually give a crap about it at all.  Sasuke in fact is one of the worst characters I have ever seen in any media format of all time.

I want to like the show and the characters but how obsessive Sakura and Naruto are over a low life creepy scumbag with no redeeming qualities whatsoever even as far as good bad guy characteristics go, Sasuke has none of them.  Sasuke is stupid, reckless, foolish to an extreme degree, and mentally the weakest character I have ever seen in such a story.  Kakashi is one of the few characters who somewhat resemble an actual ninja since he can be fast, stealthy, quiet, and strike targets accurately from cover.  However, Kakashi does not blend in very well since he always wears his face mask, therefore he looses massive ninja points because that is one of their trademarks.  This is one of the few things Naruto has any skill at but he can not nor ever holds his stealth blend in disguise very long for it to matter.  It is really hard to find any actual ninjas in a show that is supposed to be all about ninjas.  Orochimaru has a lot of ninja qualities but honestly most of his skills are far to much more like fantasy and magic than a reflection of actual ninjas.  I would almost have to say one of the closest overall to an actual ninja might be, Iruka.  He might be the only actual ninja in the show and he does bear all the qualities an actual ninja is supposed to have.  He can blend in; be stealthy and quiet; he can fight smart, both tactically and strategically; and strike a target accurately.  He fits the bill and might be the only one that does so.  There are lots of fascinating and interesting characters but I can not think of anyone else that comes close to an actual ninja.  Alot of the characters do not even actually fight like, Gaara.  In all his encounters, I have never seen Gaara actually fight he just uses his magical protection sand and hardly even moves let alone actually performs physical martial skills.  Rock Lee, the apparent sarcastic Bruce Lee rip off, is one of the few that actually does display any real physical martial skills.

I am not sure what the show is actually supposed to be about since it says it is about ninjas but if that were true, why are there so few if any ninjas appearing in it ever?  Maybe the creator has no idea what martial arts or ninjutsu is.  Or maybe he or she is just making a fanciful joke version of it to see if anyone catches that there is no actual ninjutsu in the show.

I can't really say much different or new after having watched all episodes except to wonder if the same directors of the X-Men movie series had a hand in this series because of how often or easily they seem to forget characters and their abilities and then resort back to the tired old repetitive cliches that had been established for each character.  For example, ever wonder why Naruto only ever seems to use his duplication shadow magic for almost every situation as if he is a one trick pony?  Or even after Kiba, or Sakura, or so on supposedly displayed other skills we rarely see them?  Or how Naruto so rarely delves into his hidden super power red chakra? Or that we never seem to see him grow, develop, or change into a more intelligent, experienced, or skilled fighter whatsoever?  Even after countless situations, he almost always resorts to head first combat which is the complete opposite of what an actual Ninja is.  It is kind of funny that the so called main character of a show about Ninjas, seems to have no idea what one is.  Yet, it is odd how other times he and the others occasionally do show some new skills or Naruto has some spark of cunning or smarts that make you wonder why he is so often other wise such a complete fool and idiot.  It as if they want to artificially make him seem weaker or the others so, in a way that makes their struggles or fights seem somehow tougher.  A similar trick is pulled in the repeating story arcs of Fairy Tail.  I can not help wondering if it is really necessary to make him or the others seem to get weaker or feel weak or easily beatable in some story arcs even though in other previous ones they seemed much stronger or clearly able to over come as tough opponents or stronger ones and often in similar situations.  It makes me wonder why all the fluffing to cut him and the others down a knotch or two.

One last thing, I could not recommend this show for anyone under about age 14 with out strong parental guidance given the twisted demented psychological nature of several of the episodes and characters and the violence.
