So you want fight/battle scenes... and lots of them. Both are really long series, and both have great fight/ battle elements. But it is really in the title characters attitudes that you will seee the resemblance. They really grow on you in their stubborness and rough attitue, and in their ability to overcome succesively greater obstacles

motoman9213 motoman9213 says...

If you like InuYasha or Naruto chances are you'll like the other. They both contain a main character who grew up as an outcast because of the demon in himself (whether sealed or through blood), they both are also very stubborn and are constantly striving to become stronger. Not only that but they pick fights with just about anyone who gets in the way of their goals, so you know you'll see plenty of action. Another major plus is that they are both very long series so you'll be watching them for quite a while.

There's something that makes you want to keep watching Inuyasha, just like Naruto; but it's just a charming or gut feeling. The background story is really important in both of the anime. They share something unique that can't be described with words, you'll just have to see for yourself.

RevIeryPone RevIeryPone says...

Both Naruto and Inuyasha feature a wide variety of characters. The main characters each have a dark past, but want to overcome it and gain respect. The supporting characters are also very well developed and are interesting to follow. Another plus is that there's plenty of action. So if you like action mixed with a side of tragedy and drama, you'll like both of these anime.

They are both shounen anime with a large number of characters. The title character seems like a strong guy who wants to protect people, but he is really so much more than that. Plus, both anime have one useless main character-either Shippo or Sakura. I prefer InuYasha because its characters are much less annoying and it has better villians.

Fullmetal Alchemist

Fullmetal Alchemist

Once upon a time, two brothers passed the happy days of their childhood by studying alchemy, which is governed by the equal transfer principle: an eye for an eye -- you can't get more than you give. But these brothers tried to defy that law, and a horrific accident resulted. Now, the older brother, Edward, is called the Full Metal Alchemist because of his metal limbs, and the younger, Alphonse, is a soul without a body, trapped within the confines of an automaton. Together they search for the power to restore themselves, to find the lives they lost so long ago...

Both "Naruto" and "Fullmetal Alchemist" are series that easily are classified as mere fighting animes. In both cases I would disagree with the "mere"-part. Both of these animes have plenty of fights, but the also have the ability to go deeper in a way that will make them appreciated not only by adolescents, but by adults as well, and as such they both represent the cream of the crop of fighting anime.

yuujin yuujin says...

In "FMA" we have power of alchemy and in "Naruto" we have power of ninja scrolls, but in the end it IS magic and that make those anime worlds so different from ours and so interesting. I think the most common thing between these two series is that one person from the bad team is very close to the main character.

scenthr scenthr says...

Both Naruto and FMA have similar main characters and are about adventures. When I watched FMA it felt very much like Naruto; it deals with similar problems of growing up and playing with the cards life gives you. The main characters both have about the same amount of joy, sorrow, sacrifice and most importantly the same amount of willpower to deal with impossible situations. While Naruto has grown into a huge series, FMA is more to the point; and that will probably put FMA a point or two higher than Naruto.

icejamez icejamez says...

FMA and Naruto are two shounen anime that have interesting characters, great action, a well-made story (which involves a made up world with its own laws and people), and are very popular.

They are both great watches and I'm sure that if you liked one, the other one is worth a shot.

scientistmad scientistmad says...

Just like Naruto Uzumaki, Ed and Al in Fullmetal Alchemist leave on a journey of discovery trying to reach a final goal, and willing to do anything for it. As their mother who played a key role in their life is now dead (similar to Naruto's), they don't have the past holding them back, and Ed decides to do whatever it takes to get Al's real body back. If you liked Naruto, you'll love this as well (it's also shorter).

Alyska Alyska says...

FMA and Naruto are similar because they are full of action, and they both have thier serious, and funny sides. Both Ed, and Naruto are strong characters that you either really like, or dislike. The two series are also similar because they both have plot twists that you don't see at the beginning of the series.

My two absolutly favourite animes^^

They remind a lot about each other and if you'd like the one you'll like the other one :D

In both series we have a person everybody looks down on in the start (Ed & Naruto) but are fighting for there dreams (getting his body back & becoming hokage) and they both end up respekted by everyone around them. And we have the annoying type whom every girl falls in love with (Roy Mustang & Sasuke) whom the protoganist hates but on the other side he is a great friend (okay in the end Sasuke isen't the best friend, but.. xD) and we have the short tempered, hard kicking girl (Winry & Sakura) and not to forget the one who always tries to calm down the protoganist (Al & Kakashi) but this is also the only way they resemble each other O.o (I coulden't imagine Al sitting and reading porn XD ...or i wouldent even try--- ARGH to late-.-) XD

Deathlord9100 Deathlord9100 says...

First of all, Naruto and Soul Eater are both very similar types of Shounen anime. They both focus on action while splicing in drama and comedy just enough so that it keeps the series interesting. Soul Eater and Naruto also both stories about students attending a school where they hone their abilites as fighters and strive to become the strongest. Also the characters in Soul Eater share many of the same traits as the characters in Naruto, i.e.: Soul is similar to Souske in that he is the cool, calm, and collected type while still being extremely powerful. Black Star is similar to Naruto in that both have an a huge ego, are clumsy and strong when they need to be. All in all, if you liked Naruto because of the action/comedy/drama mix then you will like Soul Eater (the reverse applies as well).

soulkeeper soulkeeper says...

Both are very similar cause the adventures are interesting and suprising. The characters are always looking for a way to be more strong and besides, there's a character in Soul Eater that REALLY resembles Naruto!

sahilms sahilms says...

These 2 shows are very similar in style but not in story, Soul eater is about a weird world with witches and mythological beings etc... Naruto is about normal people who have trained to get abilites, however different story the style is the same main characters become stronger to beat bad guy, there will be a super powerful mentors (kakashi as to professor stein) goofy kids with good abilities (saske to soul) (naruto to blacks star) etc... If you liked  bleach you will like soul eater.

akatsukiJuS akatsukiJuS says...

both animes are based is young teen with "special abilities". the type of comedie is the same, in both stories the characters are "students" that keep learning diferente kinna powers (jutsu's in naruto's case)

demonman905 demonman905 says...

Both of these shows are great Shounen Anime, when things aren't serious, there is plenty of comedy, but when things get tough, the action is intense, always making you want more.

Chidori365 Chidori365 says...

Mostly because they are both full of action and comedy. Another reason is because since they both have a fantasy like anime going on. Also they both contain people doing mystical powers and all.

Musicgirl1796 Musicgirl1796 says...

If you liked the characters in Naruto or Soul Eater, you will like the characters in the other anime. A lot of the characters have the same spunk and personality. There is also the added humor and practical joke-loving aspect in both animes.

mrCorvus mrCorvus says...

Soul eater is very similar to Naruto as it about groups of young people who fight. It might not be long and it might have shallower plot but it's better made with nicer sense of humour and not that long. Extreme similarities can be seen on some charachters such as Naruto and Star.

ObscureReaper ObscureReaper says...

Both feature students in academies set up by a government in which they are trained to fight. In naruto it is Ninjas who learn ninja arts and develope the skills passed down through their families. In Soul Eater, there are weapon wielders and weapons who are training their souls so that they can defeat evil and get enough souls to turn the weapon into a super weapon. They both throw in a lot of humor in the storylines but I feel Naruto has done more for character developement, could be just because it is a longer anime. I feel that Soul Eater was a bit darker but they both are very similar so someone who loves one would really love the other.

The main character in both series both have incredible powers deep inside themselves. Naruto has the power of the Nine Tailed Fox, while Miharu has the power of the Shinrabanshō. Others are always after them to kill them in order to obtain their hidden power.

Each of the series main theme is about ninjas. NnO is more bassed on our area conjoined to another world that is unknown, as for Naruto's based on fiction. Both Miharu and Naruto have something sealed deep inside of them that they had no knowledge of up entil a certain point in time, the power is hard to control; due to the character behind it, and powerful enough to put the world in danger.

Because of this power both character's have to defend themselves against enemies that wish to kill and escract the power from them. Training with other shinobi's and working for their clans.

I agree with the other users interms of the shinobi kids theme (like Naruto), also the 'magical' properties they seem to hold. Yusuke Urameshi is a just your ordinary teenage delinquent (if there is such a thing) living a selfish lifestyle; because of this much of society treated him as an outcast throughout his life. A lot like Yusuke, Uzamaki Naruto was treated as an outcast by his village not only because he behaved selfishly, but because of a dormant monster sealed within him. Both protagonists are so much alike that it makes me laugh when I think about it. They each have serious ego problems and think that they're the best in everything; their style of fighting is always reckless (they aren't the stealthy types); and last but not least, neither of them are any good at creating strategies - they'd much rather use brute strength. So if you like action anime with a laugh every now and then both of these series are recommended.

Reasons you might like Basilisk...

teramaster teramaster says...

Both Naruto and Basilisk are about ninjas who give their all for the sake of their clan (in Basilisk) or village (in Naruto). Basilisk has a very interesting story and a lot of stunning battle scenes. Naruto has the same, only Basilisk is made graphically more detailed; and also, in Basilisk, the ninjas are not kids, but adults; which means, there is not as much humor as in Naruto, but still, humor is present.

Haste Haste says...

First, the obvious: both shows are about ninjas protecting their homes (villages in Naruto, clans in Basilisk); in both shows the ninjas have largely exagerated or impossible techniques that make them vastly stronger than the ordinary person.

Although Naruto is much longer, it is like the dumber, younger brother of Basilisk. They are immensely similar in theme, but Basilisk is more mature: there is less commedy, more violence, stronger emotions, and better animation in Basilisk, which on the other hand means Naruto is a lighter, longer, "happier" experience, although arguably less serious.

MalteseFalcon MalteseFalcon says...

If Naruto is a kid ninja series, and Naruto Shippuden a teen, then Basilisk is definately the mature adult. Taking the same premise - ninjas from different clans fighting with abilities beyond the scope of normal people for dominance - and cranking up the mature themes, Basilisk is definately not a series for kids. However, if you are looking for something more adult, with a dark and gritty feel, you should try watching Basilisk.

Anathemus Anathemus says...

Basilisk and Naruto have loads of ninja action, introducing a good variety of characters with a good range of different ninja techniques, the core of both shows are the fighting scenes, and they don't dissapoint in my opinion.

Basilisk is shorter and will appeal more to an adult audience than Naruto.

RedCrossRobbery RedCrossRobbery says...

If you thought Naruto was exciting, you'd much rather be watching Basilisk. Ninja factions at war, super-human ninja technique, and interesting character design. Basilisk is Naruto for adults.

The only complaint i could possibly have that sets them apart is that Naruto does not have quite the impact that fullmetal has. I watched the dub version, even though i was told not to, so it could just be the dubbed but it seemed to hold back, whereas fullmetal would hit you really hard with things like a man who combined his daughter and dog into a monster.
