Worse, his terrible deed is spotted by Sawa Nakamura, a mysterious outcast who sits behind him in class who threatens to reveal the boy's secret unless he promises to engage in a contract with her. Both are about the relationship between a nerdy boy and a strange girl. They both start with the nerdy boy doing something a little weird (preverted) after school hours and the relationship that ensues.

Both series have they're weird quirks and darkish atmospere (although Aku no Hana's was considerably darker). I think both seriesfit well together.

Nothing like an anime that explores the world of adolescent sexuality (minus the fanservice, these are about metaphorical psychology).

Both have a mysterious girl that is of interest to the main character.  Both have a quiet mystical feeling and really nice romance.  Both shouldn't be missed if one is looking for a charming romantic story.

ef: A Tale of Memories.

In a high school setting, there are many people whose stories must be told: Hiro, an aspiring manga artist whose view of the world is "missing a certain color," according to himself; his childhood friend Kei, who is vying for his attention; Kyosuke, a photographer and cameraman who seeks to capture true emotion in his work; the ever-cheerful Miyako, who meets Hiro by chance and immediately becomes attached to him; the gentle Renji, unsure of his aspirations to become a novelist; and Kei's mysterious and quiet sister Chihiro, who seems to be a different person every day. As time passes and they interact with one another more, their paths increasingly intertwine as shades of regrettable pasts emerge.

Mysterious Girlfriend X is deffinatly a must see, It drags you into a couples awkward but almost heart warming relationship.  This relationship is fueled by the bond they share.  This bond is drool yes drool, and every afternoon Tsubaki (the male love intrest) tastes mikotos (the female love intrests) drool.  Doing this alows Tsubaki to feel what Mikoto is feeling.  This also applys to if Mikoto tastes Tsubakis drool.  But all in all the story is not as weird as it sounds its actualy kind of touching.  Soif you haven't seen this I highly reccomend you drop what ever the hell your doing AND WATCH FOR GODS SAKE.

Because quirky girlfriends are the best girlfriends. Though there is a bit more of a supernatural element to Mysterious Girlfriend X, having a relationship with someone who is just outside the norm is gold for both series.

While genre-wise these two are quite different they have a lot of things in common, the most significant of which is their focus on fetish-driven relationships. Both center on a couple with a strange/unique bond: in MGX the guy is addicted to the girl's saliva, while in TSCE the male protag's fetish is the girl's hair. Both couples have a daily ritual related to the pertaining fetish that they perform in order to keep their relationship going (TSCE also features several other couples with such bonds). Also in both a pair of scissors plays a prominent role as a weapon.
