My Sister Momoko and Happy Birthday Inochi Kagayaku Toki are both slice of life dramas about elementary school kids. Both have children with disabilities either as main focus (Momoko) or in the background (Happy Birthday). They're made by the same studio and so the art is very alike. Both are a little sad.

Well booth were sad, and had a lot of similarity. Booth are slice of life which will feel like someone pierced knife through your hearth...

Both feature a lot of similar themes, especially around bullying. Both also have things to say about disability. This is featured in a neat package presented for children to learn from. Therefore the morals in both are very clear, however they are also endearing in their own way.

Both deal with a disabled child heading into elementary and being bullied for being different. Both involve bullies who lash out for similar reasons. Both are ultimately films for children aimed at helping them understand more about bullying and disability.

Aura: Koga Maryuin's Last War

Ichirou Satou used to spend his life dreaming, pretending to be a great fantasy hero. Pretend heroics aren't much protection from bullies and social ridicule, however, and ultimately his worried family was forced to transfer him to a new school. Now determined to follow a different path and fit in, Ichirou thought he'd managed to give up his old fantasies. Until he encountered Ryouko Satou, who's even more deeply immersed in her own imaginary world than Ichirou was. And bullied just as cruelly for it. If he stands up for Ryouko, Ichirou could destroy the new life he's trying to build. But at the same time, the intensity of her fantasies and predicament reminds him all too vividly of the person he once was. And, in the end, it may just be that the only one who can really rescue this damsel in distress is the dream hero that Ichirou thought he had buried forever in AURA.
