ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE. They really outdid themselves this season!! Amazing storyline, animation, characters, music choice, everything is perfection! It's difficult to capture all the scenes from the novel, but they did the best they could with key moments adjusted (particularly with the Chinese censorship) I love how the way they detail each frame e.g. the animation of the expressions of each character, you can tell so much just from one scene alone and the story will sure take you on a rollercoaster ride! (AND so many soft moments where you can really see how much Lan Zhan treasures Wei Ying aaaa) Don't hesitate any longer and WATCH THIS GEM. P.S. It really helps to read the novel, makes the watching experience on a whole another (emotional) level. Edit: And to those who are concerned about the pacing or unsatisfied about parts left out, theres honestly too much content in the novel that its impossible to cover in the anime, unless they did a mega 30 epsiode season. So judging by the amount of set episodes, they did an amazing job at covering most of the plot and keeping the viewer intrigued, whether novel reader or not. So pacing and flow was more than decent alongside the stunning graphics. If you found it hard to grasp maybe go back at the end of each epsiode and make sure you understand the storyline before moving onto the next. Read some summaries if you have to, as the names and arcs can be confusing for new viewers.

Listen. Their journey was a long one, and I'm so happy that I found this donghua. I really am, I'm sad that we didn't really get many juicy parts and some things were missing that I heard were in the novel and manga, but that's why I'm glad ill be able to read the novel and manga next. I love them all so much and I'll miss them dearly. May they have a good long and happy life! This is a show i will come back to watch so many times. I highly suggest mo dao zu shi my friends. You won't regret it:)

I CAN'T EVEN DESCRIBE how much I love this!! The story, the animation, the characters and especially the op/ed songs!! Just perfect! I know they changed a little from the web series and the novel but still, the story still flows and I absolutely LOVED it! I usually wait till the series is finished before I write a review but after epi 9, I just couldn't!! The animation was absolutely too beautiful for words and I thank the animators for all the hard work they had put in for this. This is always going to be the masterpiece I'll always look back to for decades to come!
