Both anime are about magical girls, and were done around the same time (late 70s earlt 80s), so both the tone and style are very similar. Minky Momo is the better of the two, but both are diglthful series for those who like magical girls or old-school animation.

Minky Momo and Megu-chan are very early magical girl anime that hail from a time when genre tropes were coalescing and still in a state of a flux. They both feature girls from a magical land who are sent to Earth where, through the use of magic, they blend into a human family as kin. The focus is not so much in transforming into a soldier of sorts but more about impersonating adults and having adventures in these different guises. These anime take place in a vaguely defined Western country and do not have much of a concern for an overarching plot arc.

Being very much the product of their time, they can be less than savory on occasion. In the same vein, while the tone is overall very quirky, there are surprisingly dark themes featured throughout their fairly long runtime.

Magical Angel Creamy Mami

Magical Angel Creamy Mami

Yuu was having a typical day until she saw a large dream-like ship in the skies. After being pulled aboard, she inadvertently helped one of the aliens living within it; and to reward her, the alien gave her a gift: magical powers that Yuu can use in any way she sees fit for a full year! Using her new magical wand, Yuu is able to transform herself at will into the pop idol Creamy Mami – a girl who is highly sought after both by production agencies. However, she is also desired by Yuu’s childhood friend Toshio, even though he has no interest in the more homely Yuu. Can Yuu fulfill her dreams, win the heart of her love, stand strong against the rivalry of her peers and be the best idol she can be?

Both are early magical girl, when the genre was still refining its tropes. What makes them soulmates is the way in which the magic works: the girls change into their young adult/teenage selves.

Minky Momo has more diversity as Momo changes into all sorts of professionals in her several adventures; it also evolves into something considerably darker. Creamy Mami focuses almost exclusively on Mami's career as an idol and her juggling it with her daily routine as an elementary student.

In both anime, a child gets to experience more adult environments: once again, Minky Momo often explores this in a more serious way while Creamy Mami is more lighthearted in tone throughout.

If you liked one, odds are you will like the other.
