*Include SPOILERS*Holy shit I am just super pissed after watching all 12 episodes. I am so mad omg. I watched the anime because I thought the concept was cool as shit. Awesome concept, but to me they messed up so many part it just triggered me as I watched. For example I wished his perspective of her changed so he ACTUALLY likes her. Makes no sense for him to go through all that shit and STILL want to play her. Another huge mistake was not really explaining their childhood experiences well at all. You litteraly need to wait later on in the anime to kind of get what they are talking about. Another mistake they made was not expanding on the main lead's past and stuff. They could of done so much and there was so much potential like maybe she EXPLAINS why she is so cold towards men. She kind of does by saying it was the male leads fault, but it does not really make sense to me since she was already cold at the young age so he was just a victim. Another problem was the GIRL never found out that he was the fat kid. It pisses me of since they hinted that he was going to tell her when the sick girl was at school, but nope nada he is not going to tell her. You can't even call this a romance anime. This is just a drama anime to the highest because he does not even like her. It just triggers me so much since there was ZERO progression on the whole anime. Litteraly WASTED my time hopeing for something that could be interesting to come like him telling her who he is, but NO NO NO NO they just drag on the boring plot. Another part that triggered me was when they introduced the fake fat kid. OMG so unneeded because it was just a waste of all like 4 or 5 episodes of him being jealous and wanting to win the play. Litteraly could of done so much by exposing him for being the fake fat kid and main lead comes out and says he is the fat kid. Bro pisses me off because female lead only "liked" him because he was the fat kid in her memories and shit so she cut her "relation" which was not in existence anyways with the male lead. I liked the anime a little so I am being very very very very very generous with my scoreing, but they could of done just so much with the cool concept.

As a person who read the mange first page through last, I'm pretty happy with this adaptation. Although this whole show would have been a lot like I mean A LOT better with a second season, from what it shows so far it gave me the same feels as the manga. Like me cringing that he rejected the other girl just for the sake of revenge. If I were to give a short paragraph about how this would have progressed and how it would be better it would go like this: Kinda Big Manga Spoilers: Okay so fake Masamune gets caught. Turns out that Adagaki had a huge crush on Masamune before, remember when they mentioned that a guy left him devastated and that's the reason why she hates men? Yeah, that guy was Masamune. Turns out that it wasn't Asagaki that rejected him, It was Koiwai. Koiwai dressed up to look like Adagaki to get revenge on Masamune because when they were at home Koiwai was like a best friend to her but when Masamune came in, Adagaki couldn't get her mind clear of him and only talking about him. like mentioned before, Adagaki was devastated that Masamune left for no reason. Little did she know Masamune left because what she thought was her rejected him with accompaniment with a low blow insult. She was crying and her personality changed, as time went by, she got worse and so did Koiwai's guilt. So when Koiwai said that she was helping Masamune get "revenge" it was actually her trying to get Masamune to fall in love with her again so they could be happy. She really felt guilty knowing that two people got depressed because of what she did. However, just to make matters worse, it seems like Koiwai caught feelings for Masamune while she was helping him but don't worry, she and Masamune did the realistic thing and didn't get together. So in the end Masamune and Adagaki get together.Just saying the Manga is really good.

Masamune-kun's Revenge  Story. Masamune once a fat rich kid who loved his food but was the target of bullies loses weight to become the popular guy. After losing weight he takes a new identity so that he can get revenge on his former bully, the most popular girl in school, Aki - a girl he used to love.  The set up is not be unique and its not hard to predict what the likely ending will be. The story lends it self to bits of drama and comedy. The there a few twists which add to the story and the exploration of this idea of what body image really mean.  The story is based on mange and it does not reach a proper conclusion by the end of the season. At this stage its not clear whether there will be a second season. Animation The backgrounds and character design are nice. Nothing spectacular but solid Characters Our protagonist, Masamune who was once the victim of bullying for being fat loses weights and essentially takes on a new identity. He has a reasonable backstory but also faces the ongoing challenge of whether changing his appearance is enough. At times it feels he lacks depth  The villian/heroine so to speak falls in the opposite category to Masamune and has always enjoyed being popular. She bullies all guys who ask her out and the story doesn't completely explain why this is. I feel you do see her character evolve through the story but overal she is a typical tsundere. A couple of the side characters also have interesting back stories and are developed reasonably well through the series so far. The side characters are also generally likeable Overall This is a rom com is not particularly unique. If you are looking for some light hearted entertainment then this might be what your looking for. I was definitely entertained enough to look forward to a second season if there ever is one.
