The start of both of these animes are similar, two sworn enemies become allies. is Maoyuu, the hero is persuaded by the Demon king to join forces, and in Marksman and Vanadis, the MC is captured by the Maiden and she tries to get him to join her as well.
Two sworn enemies become unlikely allies. With both women proposing the reluctant male lead devote themselves to the other.
Both anime try to show the viewer in how the world works. Both cover inter-regional relationships, with Maoyuu Maou Yuusha focusing more on economical interests, while Madan No Ou Vanadis focuses more on military interests and tactics.
Yohko is nothing but ordinary. Throughout her life she has been considered an outcast, especially with a hair color not native to many in Japan, bright red. Things change for Yohko when a mysterious man named Keiki arrives and claims that she is his empress. Yohko and two friends are then taken through a vortex, and then abandoned.. in a world of demons and...

In Maou Yuusha a hero and the queen of demons partner together to bring peace to all the land. Maou Yuusha is similar to Twelve Kingdom because it has a lot to do with war tactics and "chosen ones" being at the front lines to lead everyone. They both also have go on a journey to understand his or herself and what they truely want. Youko in Twelve kingdom had to accept being a new queen while the Hero needed to accept partnering with the demon queen and changing his own view points of killing all the demons. Twelve kingdom has a theme of half human- half animal. But, in Yuusha there are demon vs human type of conflicts. They both fight with swords and have religious themes. Lots of themes overlap and I recommend both!
One day, without warning, a huge hole appeared in the world and demons emerged, ready for battle. Assuming that the demon king sealed by a hero 1,000 years ago must have escaped, the king of the land set forth a decree: the hero’s descendents must defeat evil once more! For Alba, one such would-be hero, this journey will be anything but ordinary given...
