With the same voice actress as, and another character looking the same as, Narusegawa Naru, and episode 20 taking place at the Hinata inn, both being comedies, and having charater design by the same person, Love Hina appears to be an obvious match to Earth Defence Force Mao-chan

Mao-chan and Di Gi Charat share a similar wacky sense of humor. However, Mao-chan, amazingly, has more coherence and more of a semblance of a story -- but that shouldn't stop you from enjoying Di Gi Charat's strange sense of humor.

Fans of Mao-chan's juxtaposition of amazingly cute characters and incredibly strange story will love Azumanga Daioh. The latter focuses more on the mundane, but it is just as eccentric and just as funny.

Cute girls fighting for justice? Yep, that's what you get in these two series. Brightly animated and mostly amusing, you'll find the characters in these two anime very endearing and the action pretty gripping.

Mao-chan is almost sickeningly cute compared to Dominion Tank Police, but both are light-hearted stories of funny characters fighting to protect the innocent with very unorthodox means... overly strong firepower.

Steel Angel Kurumi and Ground Defense Force! Mao-chan are both very light-heared series with some curiously lecherous side characters and very cute main characters. both will have you laughing.

Here we have girls defending the common man with unusual mecha. While the characters in Mao-chan are considerably younger than the ones in Sakura Wars, there's still some cute interplay between them. Good to watch if you don't really care for men in your mecha.

Both are comedies centered on three young girls who are members of a defense force tasked with protecting the town/country from (mostly harmless) threats. Lots of light-hearted humor and silliness in both.
