Management of a Novice Alchemist - Reviews

The story follows young orphan girl Sarasa as she becomes certificated alchemist and opens her first shop in a remote village. I really liked the first episode, but most of the following episodes were rather too dull for my taste. I found out that I enjoy more stories from Sarasa’s past and her interactions with her teacher and mentor Ophelia. Those were the better parts of the show. The rest is mostly about somewhat comical outlandish ingredients gathering or making various products with alchemy and other predictable tropes. It has cute, comical slice of life feel to it. Audio-visually the series is ok with very slice-of-life uplifting OP theme. If the content were as enjoyable as the first episode, I would give it 7 or 6, but the series was quite boring. Towards the end I just mostly skimmed through episodes, because I didn’t want to watch it at normal speed. Unless you want slice-of-nothing with cute girls doing alchemy shop, I do not recommend this series.

Cute, funny and relaxing, but at the same time its really standard and plain. It doesn't stand out from anything of the same genre and it will get lost in the mix, at best its average when its all said and done. However those cute and funny moments are worth the watch. Especially if you are just looking for a throwaway show, yet still want it to be enjoyable and relaxing.

I will also say that the animator for the last fight really had a fun time with it. I was surprised at the quality for this level and type of show. That alone was worth the watch for me.

At first it was interesting, but the show puts so much emphasis on unimportant things that it really bogs down the story progression. Then I realized that there isn't much progression because there isn't much story. It's slice of life, VERY slice of life and almost nothing else. It would be nicer if there was humor, but it's weak at best. The characters are cute, and that's all this show has to offer. 

I can only recommend this to people without expectations. It wasn't for me, but that doesn't mean you won't like it. 

This show isn't anything revolutionary, but it's cute enough.

A good pleasant anime that follows the MC character's life of overcoming the hardships of losing her parents at a very young age and following her dreams to become an Alchemist.  This anime is about loyaly and friendship as well as overcoming problems that need to be resolved.  There is clean humor in it as well as a wholesome nature to the entire storyline that makes for a kind hearted anime.  I like how the main character is realistic with bandits for example and deals with them according to her dead Father's advice.  I like that the MC looks out for her friends and the village but at the same time being realistic on running a business that is successful.  At the end of every episode after the credits are given, a tally is shown of how much her business made, I appreciate that aspect as having been a multiple business owner myself.  This anime does have a number of episodes that have action in them also, but it is not the hack and slash that is represented in other anime.  This is a family oriented anime that anyone can watch and enjoy and take something away, such as learning responsibilty and that of loyalty and thinking of others.  A well done anime that is well rounded for anyone.  Since this is a feel good anime in many ways it may not be for those that are much more into such anime as the Shield Hero which is a great anime but much grittier than this type of anime.  There is also no romance in this anime which may make it not as interesting to some, Sword Art Online does have a lot of character development with romance between the two main MCs for example and this anime does not have that romance appeal.  I enjoyed this anime a great deal even though it was not dubbed which I prefer.... I miss out on a lot of good anime because I prefer not to watch something while reading subtitles which makes me have to pause or go back not to miss some aspects of the intent of the storyline.
