They both are about school kids falling in love and have very similar art and characters. The type of shojou anime is much the same and the characters are about the same age. Overall, Special A and Kaichou wa Maid Sama are very much alike.

veearchie veearchie says...

Both anime are very much alike, the girl is working hard to overtake the guy, but the guy is always far off in front of her. Despite that, they have feelings for each other. the characters have very similar personalities, same art... however, kaichou wa maid-sama have more story development compared to special A.

Trinityx94 Trinityx94 says...

Hard headed, strong, determined girl who hates to lose and is going to high school with a group of freinds with various fun and entertaining personalities? As well as the perfect, popular guy who likes to tease her? Well either of these fits these perfectly. I've also read the mangas of both. You couldn't love one without loving the either. Seriously, I suggest either one of these if you've watched the other. And even if you haven't seen either one yet you should definitely watch them both. Two animes that are bound to get you laughing in fits of tears at the right moments and shouting at the screen at others.

amina9898 amina9898 says...

If you like one of these anime you will be sure to like the other for there is a lot of similarity between the two. First both Hikari and Misaki are strong willed, fired up, smart, competitive, tough, can never seem to win over Kei/Usui, and they even sorta look alike. Both Kei and Usui are arrogant, smart, strong, love to tease Hikari/Misaki, and they also kinda look alike. Two, the settings and images of both anime really resemble each other.

KiyoneSaya KiyoneSaya says...

These characters are very simialr with strong willed girl trying to overcome an always two steps ahead guy. While they both learn to be more vulnerable and with another person. The settings are very similar.

PJL PJL says...

Both animes have a hard working girl as the main character who is in second place to the main guy but has vowed to catch up to him. Both of the girls are strong and smart and make you want to work hard, too!!!

LittleChomp LittleChomp says...

Both Special A and Kaicho wa Maid-sama! are about strong, fiery young women who try to accomplish everything by themselves, can't seem to pass her rival, and let their judgments about people blind them to the truth. If you like the way that Hikari and Kei or Misaki and Takumi interact, you really should do yourself a favor and watch the other pair as well.

ftislandx33 ftislandx33 says...

Both have very similar main characters kei and Usui both tell the girl that they like them but both girls are clueless and even things they are moking them. Both are dense girls when it comes to love but is good at and works hard at everything else. While they do try their best the guys are always in front of them. The stiry is very similar and if you like one of the animes you will like the other

Lenny Lenny says...

If you have already watched one of these anime, and to the second a hand yet do not send in addition, but you liked the first, be assured that the second as will not leave you indifferent. Finally, each interested a genre should watch both of them. Both protagonists simply amaze with the similarity of character and appearance. As the general spirit of an anime is in many respects similar: action occurs at school, both heroes test to each other liking. The guy appears the initiator. And the girl understands nothing in relations and presidency or rivalry with the cleverest and talented is interested only in the duties, whether it be.

akatsukiJuS akatsukiJuS says...

well the story have similar points, like the fact that is a really good romantic comedy and both main characters are very smart, strong and competitive..

Also the fact that the guy is totally in love of the girl but she doesn't sees that way, and she only see him as a competition and also annoying guy.

the comedy is very similar also..

gretzky99 gretzky99 says...

In both animes the male lead is superior to the female lead - though the female lead is really hard-working she's always a step behind the male lead. The male lead is in love with the girl but she does not recognize this.

In addition both shows are episodic, there is no real continuity between episodes besides that the female lead starts to feel the same way as the male lead (but she hardly admit or notice this).

animelover571 animelover571 says...

Kaichou wa Maid-sama! and Special A are similar in many ways. The two main female characters, Hikari and Misaki, both hate losing and are hard-working people, and they are dense towards the other's feelings. Kei and Usui are both geniuses, and they are capable of doing things that normal people can't. If you liked one of these shows, you are sure to like the other!

needanimes95 needanimes95 says...

Both main characters are strong girls who do their best to be better than the boys and who fail in noticing their impact on boys. Both shows are hilarious with an underlying romantic theme.

AnimeMangaLover13 AnimeMangaLover13 says...

In both Special A and Kaichou wa Maid-Sama the two main characters are a guy and a girl, and the girl is always trying to show-up each other in almost anything. The guy obviously like the girl, but the girl doesn't quite accept that she likes him as well.

nasreen10 nasreen10 says...

Hikari and Misaki are very similiar characters. They are headstrong, smart, brash but still nice. They're also very dense when it comes to love. Usui and Kei are also very similiar too. The animation of the characters are both very pretty and stories have the same feel to it. Both are comedic with plenty of romance thrown. It's in a school setting.

dannyly18 dannyly18 says...

if you liked either these movies your going to love both ways, both involve two "higher" class promiscuous pretty boys, that chase after a girl that is just in denial of the truth, there both really well drawn charcts. funny, sweat, cunning, and best drama anime ever! just if you loved either or, your going to love the other!!

arieana arieana says...

these two anime are similar in highschool student and how the heroin character were really independent, smart than other and hardworking, get respect from others but never can surpass the male characters. also, it focusing on how male characters show or introduced the romance/love feeling to the heroine.

lanaa lanaa says...

Both of these animes present the main characters in a similar way. The girls are identical with their personality of self-determination and the male protagonists are alike because of their feelings for the girls. The art is also the same and the environment also focuses in a school area.

wolfangel87 wolfangel87 says...

If you are looking for one of those school romance types of comedies Kaichou wa Maid-sama! And Speacial A are just the ticket.  Both of the female protagonists are trying to out do the guy that they happen to really have feelings for.  The men happen to be really similar to each other (the even look alike) very strong and attractive, slyly supporting the female character on their way.

Andily21 Andily21 says...

Oh My Gosh!

I've never seen two animes so close!

Both have a main girl who is good at everything (besides cooking) and is always competing with the main male. They're both amazing stories that i absolutley loveee!

The main male characters are so heroic, it's crazy!

If you loved one, you'll definitley love the other.

Kaichou wa Maid-sama is my favorite♥

halou halou says...

There are a lot of reasons why you should watch Kaichou wa Maid-sama! if you liked this animé.

Special A and Kaichou wa Maid-sama! are very similar in that both have as the lead female character a clueless, naive, but superhumanly talented/skilled teenage girl who is admirably hardworking as well and has a tough image but actually has a kind heart. Another common theme is that the guy is also superhumanly gifted and strangely always a step ahead of the girl, which rouses the competitive spirit in the girl and makes her see him as a rival instead of seeing him as a guy (thus, his brief journey into one-sided affection begins).

Now, that plot may actually sound cliched or overused already, but for these two animés, it worked. The character development and the dialogues are never boring. Both of these animés have managed to find that perfect mix of humor and romance without being cheesy or tasteless. Sure, there are a lot of absurdities, (e.g. superhuman strength of the girl) but hey, this is anime. :D

shinigamidono shinigamidono says...

#2 wants to beat #1... #1 falls in love with #2... #2 is clueless... they all lived happily ever after.

shilker shilker says...

If you loved Special A then you will love Kaichou wa Maid-sama and vice versa. Both center around a smart heroine that strives to beat their rival. They each fall in love with their rival. Romantic moments are hilarious and really enjoyable. ^_^

Estuko Estuko says...

If you like any one of thesee series, you will loke the other too ^^

They are similar in the ways of both having a strongwilled girl, working for her goals while at the same time being completely unaware of the feelings of her male friends.

Enjoy!

Cassii3 Cassii3 says...

EXACT SAME STORY LINE (ish), the girl works through determination alone to beat a guy and yet he falls in love with her!

chunkz chunkz says...

If you liked Kaichou wa Maid-sama!, you'd also like: Special A! because both animes' are certainly extordinary and are very simmilar to each other, Misaki from Kaichou wa Maid-sama! is very simmilar to Hikari Hanazo from Special A! Both are one of the main characters' in the animes' Both girl's are stong, pretty and caring towards other people. Misaki feels like she is losing to Usui because of how perfect he is but then she start's to slowly fall in love with him but dosen't know it yet while in Special A!, It is a little different Hikari Hanazo when she was six years old she has struggled to defeat her rival Kei Takashima at anything, whether it be athletics or academics. To date she has proven unsuccessful, resulting in Kei constantly referring to her as "second place."In reality, Kei has been in love with Hikari for quite some time, but Hikari remains completely oblivious to the fact, and if you think back towards Kaichou wa Maid-sama! they are very quite simmilar. Usui teases Misaki even though deep down he loves her dearly. The fact that both girl's cannt know it show's they are not willing to show their feelings towards them I recommend you watch this to see what happends next.

MageOnx MageOnx says...

What to say that hasn't already been said? Special A and Kaichou wa Maid-sama! feature a group of very simmilar characters that interact in a simmilar way among each other, end up in simmilar situations and form simmilar relationships. The main difference is that Special A has given a lot more attention to it's supporting characters and developed their individual pasts and relationships even further, while in KWMS the main pair gets the most glory.

FelineLion FelineLion says...

Both of these animes are very similiar. The art style is close, although not the same. The amount of humor is pretty much the same.

The guys are both in love with the girls, although the girls are either too dense or won't accept it. Both girls have very random family scenes(although the Maid-sama ones tend to be more sweet). Both girls are very hardworking.

If you liked one, you'll like the other. Although they are in different situations, there's a lot of the same stuff in them.

NikkiAnne26 NikkiAnne26 says...

Its really the same! Both main guy characters (Kei and Usui) are hot and it has really good drawing! The main girl characters (Misaki and Hikari) have no idea about their love

jennytwenty jennytwenty says...

The guy secretly likes the girl, always saves her, and both of the girls appear to be "tough". In both animes, the lead female and male roles are smart, athletic, and inhuman. If you like maid-sama, you'll LOVE special a. garuntee!

Atalea Atalea says...

Both Misaki and Hikari are strong and determent. They both compete against a perfect guy. They both don't (want to) see that the boy is actually in love with them. Usui and Kei are both great male characters, but slightly differ from each other. Both animes are sweet and fun, I highly recommend both of them!

guakamaya guakamaya says...

Both have strong female characters that believe they can accomplish if they work hard. The men sm to always beat them and of course it takes the girls forever to figure out their feelings. I found Maid sama after looking through these recommendations. Its totally worth it :)

tsukiran tsukiran says...

I really enjoyed both of these animes, each had cutesy feel good moments. And they made me laugh. Watch 'em! :)

Maid-sama and SA are interestingly so much alike! They both have this serious-but uber HOT-guys who secretly like a girl, and the both the girls can't cook, but can fight! Both shows are hilarious and make you want to watch MORE MORE MORE! I absolutely loved the two. :DDD

pacord1 pacord1 says...

It has the same kind of cuteness to it! The love-resistant main character is what got me hooked ^^

FuzzleWuzzle FuzzleWuzzle says...

Both anime have crazy outgoing female protagonists and a male progagonist that loves to pick on them. I have to say that these 2 anime generally gave off the same feel when you watch them

dawnmage dawnmage says...

I like both anime's. kaichou a little bit more. I think both have the same general idea of a hardworking girl that first deny her own interest in the boy: tusunder? I think so.

xixer xixer says...

Both anime produce the same feeling when you see them. Main male character is good looking, charming and have tons of girls looking to get into their pants, but they are after one girl that is clumsy, has no woman-like behavior and is cluless about her feelings.

So if u like one of these animes, YOU MUST see the other.

Shiraiyuki Shiraiyuki says...

Both are about a high school boy and girl who are better than the others in various things; in both its the boywho ends up falling for the girl and its the girl that considers the boy to be her rival before even considering that she likes him. Both girls are very stubborn and but end up admiting they like the boy.

If you liked one you should give the other one a try.

versailles versailles says...

In each of these, there is an intelligent, strong and talented female paired with a male that has similar characteristics. If you enjoyed their interactions in one, you'll surely enjoy the interactions in the other.

PrincessRie PrincessRie says...

Both Kaichou... and Special A revolve a story of high school students and their daily lives that include love story; main male characters are both witty, smart, and love and protect the heroines. On the other hand, the heroines are both independent, who refuses to be protected by heroes. If you like school life/sweet love story, you will like Kaichou and Special A!

felody felody says...

both animes have similar character settings. the males are somewhat   super awesome while the girls are hard working. the males (kei and usui) love the females (hikari and misaki) very much and was always by their side and protecting them

LuckyStarfish LuckyStarfish says...

their both have a strong lead girl who is just awesome and end up having their rival like them

dandere dandere says...

Both anime have very talented male and female lead characters who love to compete against each other. Both leading males are cool, calm, and pretty much perfect. Both have a focus on the main male and female falling in love with each other.

Mailtiger Mailtiger says...

Kaichou wa Maid-sama! is very much similar to Special A, this is mainly because in both series a perfect boy falls for second perfect, hardworking girl. Both the lead male protogonists  (Usui Takumi & Takashima Kei) will always be perfect, cool & composed with the female leads (Hikari Hanazono & Ayuzawa Misaki) being Hardworking, little bit egostic yet loving, second perfect, who always wanted to surpass the male leads. Also yet another important similarity is that the feel, the mood & the romantic environment in the series. both the series gives a warm, light hearted romantic feel (can't able to express in words) which will surely make the viewers fall for the series. its a great pity that both these series are short & does'nt have season yet its what make it so so beautiful.  Anyways if you like one surely you will like other. both KMS & SA will surely be in memories of viewers.

mh8171 mh8171 says...

The couples in them are quite similar, most notably both girl characters can't cook! Their characters are all very strong willed and high achievers, for example, school president or extension classes. Whilst characters might be very similar, but lets face it most shoujo anime charcters are, the storylines are completely different. Either way you're sure to have great laughs and sweet moments throughout.

itachirockstar itachirockstar says...

Both center around a headstrong, determined heroine who cares about her friends and those around her, with the exception of one guy who she deems her rival and is determined to best him. Sadly, she has no idea that the guy actually cares for her. Very cute love story that will reward you with that "just kiss her already!" you often don't find in other shows.

They are both about a strong-willed and independent girl who falls in love with the guy she hates the most. They both happen at school.

marebear1234001 marebear1234001 says...

Both series have a strongwilled protagonist, and have the same air to them. Similar graphics, and similar comedy. Both are hilarious and both guys mess with the female characters.

alexzaharia alexzaharia says...

Both series are very similar: the action, the characters, the way they interact, or the things they do. However I found Maid-sama to be much, much better. So if you liked Special A you will most likely LOVE Maid-Sama. Maid-sama has better graphics, it is funnier, and the relationship between the main characters is also more interesting (a bit "kinkier" and less childish in a way). You will most likely love the male lead, as well. No doubts here. Kei from Special A is not nearly as interesting and as provoking as Usui is. All in all, I found Maid-sama to be less shoujo-ish and more mature than Special A, altough the series are, undoubtedly, very, very similar.

wenning wenning says...

THEY ARE SO SIMILAR! TOTALLY SIMILAR! Both have a competitve main female character that are totally capable YET never seems to win the guy. Both are totally oblivious to the male's feeling and at the same time, unaware of their own feelings as well. Totally sweet and lovely anime that I recommend you to watch.

rosethorn999 rosethorn999 says...

The art styles are very similar, the plot, though unique to each story, is still very similar, with the male character persuing the protagonist. The protagonists are both quite hardheaded but endearing. Both animes feature the school setting, along with ideas, school carnivals, class presidents etc. Overall, although both animes, though different, are both enjoyable nonetheless.

The stories progress in the same way, you'll be suprised over how extremily much they remind you of each other. These series will equally make you laugh your self into oblivion(sorry for the dramatic term.), and make your heart skip a beat at the romantic scenes.

I have nothing else to say but, you absolutly MUST watch both, or the other if you only have watched one of them.

Both Animes have main tsundere characters. Hard-to-approach girls with fighting spirit who are trying to win the game of life, one or the other way. The main male character (Kei Takashima in Special A and Takumi Usui in Kaichou wa Maid-sama!) are very similar in the sense that they are both smart and both show their feelings toward the female first. Both animes are filled with romance, and I highly recommend both of them!

They are both about a smart girl and a smart guy and how they compete with eacother. Special A is more about the competition though. Maid sama has more romantic parts in it

erikaxvanessa erikaxvanessa says...

Strong female character. Both compete with male. Hilarious. If you like one, you'll like the other.

Skymurphy123 Skymurphy123 says...

Both in Special A and Kaichou wa Maid-sama the main girl character has super-human strength but the main boy character is stronger and does better at things.(Both main girls can't cook). But in Special A the story starts off as the main girl character wanting to beat the main boy character ,but as time passes through the story the main girl and boy character end up falling in love. In Kaichou wa Miad-sama it starts off as the main boy character finding out the main girl characters secret job. She thinks that he goes to her job because he is teasinf her but during the passing of time she starts to fall in love with him. Both anime have a story that develops into love. These two animes are one I recommend if you like either.

Peta7382 Peta7382 says...

both anime's have very similar male and female protaganists. The females highly competitive and very strong, but not quite enough to beat their male counterparts. Both series continue along a back and forth between the main couples until they both finally succumb to the inevitable.

bunnylovesanime bunnylovesanime says...

Both feature strong Tsundere female characters with a equally amazing male character. In both the male character seems to easy through anything that the female character thinks that they excell at. In both you find a romance that starts with friendship and competion. You also have good supporting characters in both that add to the romance of the main characters.

Special A is like Kaichou wa Maid-sama because they both involved a very hard headed women that are clueless about main guy charater feeling. Plus you can tell the guys in the shows the feeling but the girls dont understant yet.

aneku aneku says...

You'll know what I mean when you go watch it!

Both anime are very much alike, the girl is working hard to overtake the guy, but the guy is always far off in front of her. Despite that, they have feelings for each other. the characters have very similar personalities, same art... however, kaichou wa maid-sama have more story development compared to special A. You can also compare it to Ouran High School Host Club.

Both of these anime have really good humor and you will enjoy it to the fullest :) .

If you like powerful principal characters, comedy and romance, it's perfect for you!!

It's that kind of innocent love that makes your heart melt, that kind of love that you desire to really exist for you. At the same time, both of main characters are so strong, and a little bit slow in love themes. It's so fresh, I don't think anyone can be tired of this manga!!

FairyTaillives FairyTaillives says...

the female leads are pretty the same in way of thinking and in both the girl is smart and strong but the hero is stronger

i just love the characters and their personalities. mostly the main characters. these are both well composed animes from which i have learned the art of love and humour. in which i love so much ive probrably become a shipper as i want to see certain people with each other as their personalities entertwine.

Labulla Labulla says...

If you enjoyed one it is sure you will enjoy the other too. Both anime have strong leads in the female and male characters and pretty fun side characters too. They are romance stories so there is nothing original you might say, but the story is well developed and fun to watch even if you know what it's gonna happen next :P

The female leads are strong and smart unlike most anime heroines, even tho the male leads are the prince do-it-all types they serve more as support to the girls. I like the absence of ''damsel in destress'' senario. If you like strong leads, fun dialogues and romance these are for you!

In Special A they compete in pretty much anything athletic, male mc always placing 1st and female 2nd while in Kaichou wa Maid-sama they compete verbally, the male mc repeatedly teasing the female after finding out her secret. The male seems to have the upper hand in each, with their weak point being none other than the female mc.

Both anime are so similar. The main female protaginist is always striving to defeat the main male protaginist. The female protaginist doesn't realize that the male likes her until usually the last episode. Now the only main difference is that in Kachiou wa Maid~Sama the male shows that they like the female at the beginning and in Special A the male doesn't tell her. If you like one of them, definitely watch the other.

There may be some slight differences but there are more similarities to both main characters. One example of the two main guys are are they are good at everything. And an example of the two main girls are them never giving up and having perserverence.

Special a focus on the love of each member when maid sama only concentrated on the love of the two protagonists. Other then that they are both really good anime!!!

As an additional bonus, both are voiced by the awesome English VA, Monica Rial.

devihelios devihelios says...

Both have a female mc with unbelievable strength and spirit. The boys fell in love with the mc of their story because they were inspired by their spirit/ determination/ care. However, the boys are both taller, smarter and overall better than the mc's in nearly every way. This pisses off the girls, and as they compete with the boys, their bond grows stronger. In more than a few situations where the girl is in danger, the boy rushes in to help. Also, both the girls (Mikasa & Hikari)  have similar personalities to one another. The boys (Usui & Kei) do as well.

Special A and Maid-Sama! are romance and comedy animes that are very similar. The storylines are similar in the aspect of how the main male character is always a step ahead of the main female character. This rouses up the competitive spirit in the female character which makes her view the male character as a rival rather than a romantic figure. Ouran High School Host Club

Ouran High School Host Club

Ouran High is a school for the extremely wealthy or, in Haruhi's case, the extremely talented. But no amount of talent will help when Haruhi accidentally drops an eight million yen vase in a music room. The vase was the property of Ouran High School Host Club, a group of attractive young men who, for a fee, provide their time and affections for their lovesick clientele: the female students. Fascinated by this strange new specimen, a poor and clumsy commoner, they force Haruhi to work for them until the debt is repaid; but they get a lot more than they bargained for...

Reasons you might like Ouran High School Host Club...

ThePatches ThePatches says...

If Takumi Usui was split a la Voltron into his constituent parts, he'd become the Ouran High School Host Club. The Bones series also features a fish-out-of-water female protagonist with a no-nonsense demeanor acting as straight man while crazy boys flit through every scene.

If you love Misaki's man-wrangling, you'll enjoy watching the deadpan Haruhi Fujioka navigate the bishie-filled Ouran.

ForeverUndone7 ForeverUndone7 says...

One is Harem one is reverse harem. Both are comedic with maids and the other with a host club and a cute 'non' couple caught up in the center :3

Haruhi is strong female lead just like Misaki. Although Haruhi may lack physical strength but she has emotional and mental to make up for it. They also don't take crap from people and are very likable. Both casts are lovable and the character designs are really nice. Also a school setting.

These two got similar concept: poor but very strong-willed highschoolgirl got problem which she needs to fix by doing undercoverwork, keeping that as a secret from the others and try not to mess up the others to her personal life... somehow there's always boy/s who sees this tomboyish girl very attractive and want to know more about her...

They're light hearted with a comedic twist.  If you like character development and don't mind a bit of story then these are perfect.

These titles both focus around girls that don't quite blend into their environment and have extremely hard times expressing and realizing their feelings, while focusing mainly on comedy. If you enjoyed one, you'll likely enjoy the other.

wolfangel87 wolfangel87 says...

The main female characters are poor but they use that as a means of determination in Ouran High School Host Club and Kaichou wa Maid-sama!  They both have to work undercover while trying to keep it a secret from everyone else.  Surrounded by a crazy cast of characters though that is a little hard to accomplish.

Sofantastic Sofantastic says...

Haruhi and Misaki, the female protagonists of Ouran and Maid-sama! respectively, are both intelligent and strong-willed females from poor families. To work their way out of a financial problem, they both end up with a secret. Tamaki and Takumi, the male protagonists, have not only similar names, but are similar in appearance, personality and backgrounds. Both anime also contain interesting characters, comedy and romance. If you enjoyed Ouran High School Host Club or Kaichou wa Maid-sama!, you'd probably like the other because both are light-hearted anime, which will have you in stitches and smiling after each episode.

XmInGxFoReVeRxDx XmInGxFoReVeRxDx says...

Both are very funny. They both have a school setting except one is with maids and the other with a host club. Both have a strong female lead. They also don't care what people think and are likable. The character designs are also really nice.

chunkz chunkz says...

If you liked Kaichou wa Maid-sama!, you'd also like: Ouran High School Host Club! because both animes are very simmilar in there own way for example in Kaichou wa Maid-sama! The two main girl characters Misaki from Kaichou wa Maid sama! and Fujioka Haruhi are two girl that are smart, kind, pretty and caring for others.Fujioka Haruhi are both smart girl that don't really care for a relationship with another boy but focus on their studies, and even though both girl are incredibly smart both girl are poor.Fujioka Haruhi is poor and she won a scholarship to attend Ouran High, a school for the rich and prestigious. Haruhi doesn't care about what people think of her or her physical appearences also same goes for Misaki from Kaichou wa Maid-sama!, Both just care about their studies and other people they may know, both girls' care for other girls. The fact that both are commoner.Unfortunately for Haruhi, her high school days took a turn when she stumbled upon the Host Club, a group of handsome guys who use their charms to entertain the women of Ouran High. Even worse was that Haruhi had accidentally broken an 8 million yen vase in the club. Unable to repay her debt with money, Haruhi found herself with no choice but to work for the Host Club, becoming a male host herself. In Kaichou wa Maid-sama! It's a little different because Misaki ends up owing Usui for keeping her secret and saving her life over and over again. You've most likely seen these two animes' before, but if you haven't, it's worth checking! Both animes are extordinary.I think Haruhi and Misaki are pretty cool (they don't care about how she looks and doesn't whine).

MidnightAria MidnightAria says...

It's mainly because the animes both revolve around girls who are strong enough to make their own desicions. However, Misaki's strong both mentally and physically, but the girl in Ouran High School Host Club is merely strong mentally. But they're both female characters who know exactly what they want.

Rikaachu Rikaachu says...

The characters are very different, the plot is different. A lot is different apart from the fact that both is comedy and romance. But if you like one, i bet you will like the other one. They are both two of the best animes i have seen. You won|t be disapointed.

Haruhi and Misaki are very similar in personality ^.^ though Haruhi isn't as strong as Misaki in physical strength. Haruhi and Misaki are also not as "girly" dressing but are very funny and cute ^.^ Tamaki and Usui are both "prince-like" figures too and make them really amazing. Just watch and find out :3

It's very funny, and you will fall in love with all the charcters, i suggest reading the manga on both of them if you wish to know what happens :)

Maid-sama has the "school theme with a secret" plot line but has a higher focus on the romantic side (but please keep in mind the girl is a tsundere so when i say "romantic" take it lightly) but the comedy is still purely amazing.

Ouran is very much the same but is a reverse harem (the best ive ever seen) and i can't say this maid-sama is one  really. Ouran is amazing, i honestly cant describe it without giving anything away, so watch it to find out.

Overall, if you like one you'll like the other (you've most likely read that loads by now) they have the same vibe and the characters are just so loveable, non-forgetable animes. ~thanks x

Similar feel and humor. In Ouran, the big thing is host clubs, while in Maid-Sama the big thing is maid cafes - both of which always consist of dressing up and trying hard to appeal to their customers. And obviously the main female leads have some similar characteristics: poor, strong-willed, and followed around by some blonde boy who loves her.

Both are wonderful, lighthearted comedies that poke fun at gender roles and how ridiculously people can sometimes take them.  Not only is the comedy perfectly timed and woderfully executed, but the characters are, for the most part, all around well written characters.  Both Haruhi and Mikasa are strong-willed leads, yet they have their own flaws and insecurities, as anyone their age would have.  The series' have touching moments alongside some of the most memorable comedic scenes in anime.  I highly recommend both to anyone looking for a good laugh.

Both of them are really good but that is in my opinion. It's ironic though Haruhi doesn't really care about her gender or her job being relived though but Misaki Ayuzawa does care for job being the president. Also both Haruhi and Misaki doesn't want to be in love it's like both of them are the same person and both of them are poor. Misaki is more like the devil but at the same time is an angel when she wants to be. Haruhi is the innocent one but once you cross over to her bad side then good luck. I really enjoy them both to be honest though.

Both Ouran and Maid Sama have a similar art style and humour, as well as a tomboy female lead. Both Haruhi (ouran) and Misaki (maid sama) are shown to be strong, resourceful and independent female leads. The love interests in both are also quite similar. Both are very worthwhile and are some of my favourite shojo romances.

Both are great stories, sadly though there isn't enough seasons for either of these, but the manga make up for those. OHSHC is great and it is a good reverse harem. Maid Sama is a great love story with a great Tsundere FL. OHSC is great, but Maid Sama is better for those looking for a wonderful rmance story.

Wolf Girl and Black Prince

Wolf Girl and Black Prince

Everyone knows that lies can come back to bite you, but when Erika makes up a fake boyfriend to impress her new classmates, the results may literally end up hounding her forever! Yes, it was dumb, but what were the odds that the random guy whose picture she used would turn out to be a student at her own school? Or that said faux-boyfriend's silence would come with such a horrible price? Now Erika doesn't just have to run and fetch at Kyoya Sata's command, she has to bark too! Because he's literally treating her like a dog, and she just has to roll over and take it, or he'll tell everyone the truth! But that's not the worst part, because even though this wolf in hunk's clothing has Erika collared, she may be starting to have REAL feelings for him anyway! Is she barking up the wrong tree, or could true love be unleashed in Wolf Girl & Black Prince?

Both shows are very simmilar. Not only the plot, but even characters are very simmilar. The boy promises to keep the girl's secret in exchange of favors. Both male characters are popular and charming but act cruel toward the heroine. I didn't like "Kaichou wa Maid-sama!" due to Usui's rudeness and sadism, but Kyoya from "Wolf Girl and Black Prince" is much nicer and more protective.

Erika and Kyoya in wolf girl and black prince are really similar to aiyazawa and usui in Kaichou wa Maid- sama. The cute shoujou romance and comedy are pretty similar. anime99 anime99 says...

They are both absolutely amazing!!  In black prince and wolf girl there is always a suspense lingering at the end of each episode which makes you want to watch more. The plot was great to an extent...I say this because all romance amines have a theme of adding similar fights between characters and so on. However, the twist was quite funny as the Erika took a picture of a random handsome guy on the street so that she could use that picture to say that so to had a hot boyfriend. The tables turned though and it Erika found out that he was actually the so called prince of his year. Therefore. The amines contains a lot of exciting moments which made the anime enjoyable.

moving on to maid-Sama. To be frank I watched this anime ages ago just like wolf girl and black prince however this anime I had watched before. It's also romantic anime and contains a lot of funny remarks and actions that take place. For example the girl had a group of guys that follow her as they admire her and she is the president of a boy dominating school. Now you may look at this a say I like the plot and all but there is no romance. What's the meaning of this? Well don't worry!!! One guys finds out her secret and this enables him to get close to her and eventually they fall in love. Then the anime ends on a happy note. :)

Wolf girl and Black Prince compared to Kaichou wa Maid-sama is very similiar.

They both begin with a popular guy, whom at first seems disinterested in the main character. But slowly they begin to like her more and more. In the beginning mostly because she amuses them but it won't take long to find out that that isn't the only reason why they stick around her.

Both have their cute, hartwarming and funny moments. if you are into romance comedy then this will be quite a fun ride for you.

While in one the male character is the one who denies his feelings for the honest female character, the other story has the reverse dynamic. Kamisama Kiss

Kamisama Kiss

Nanami used to live in a ramshackle apartment with her father - a man who spent half his time gambling and the other half hiding from debt collectors - until one day the scoundrel ran away, leaving his daughter hungry and homeless. That is, until she meets a mysterious stranger in the park who deems her the new goddess of a local shrine! Unfortunately, Nanami’s new home is occupied by Tomoe, a fox familiar who objects to the presence of a mere mortal and immediately begins to bicker with the girl. If she can manage to form a contract with the troublesome man, he’ll be obligated to accept and help her perform her duties. But there’s a catch: Nanami has to kiss him first, and who’d want to lock lips with that awful guy?!

SIMILARITIES:

- Both have strong willed main characters (with similar hairstyles)

- Both have mysterious, all-capable, chivalrous perverts as the male interest.

- Both have a slow developed romance (no insta-love)

- Both are as good as Nutella.

DIFFERENCES:

- Maid-sama! has a tsundere as it's MC, in Kamisama it's the male interest.

- In Kamisama the MC is the more affectionate one, in Maid-sama! it's the male interest.

- One deals with supernatural themes + high school (Kamisama), the other with maid cafes + student councils + high school

bootypopper3000 bootypopper3000 says...

It has a similar type of love. In Kamisama Hajimemashita, Nanami loves Tomoe, but the feeling is not mutual (in the beginning). In Kaichou wa Mais-sama, Takumi loves Misaki, and their love is not mutual (at least, not in the episodes I have seen). Their both wonderful love stories, while their complexities [Kamisama Hijimemashita : Being a deity] [Kaichou wa Maid-sama : Living in poverty] enhace the story.

Funny, enojoyable and high-quality shows with an amazing story. What more could you ask for? I've watched Kamisama Hajimemashita twice, and still laugh or cry or feel a sense of dread for a character at the time the show portrays this emotion. I have seen Kaichou was Maid-sama! 3 times, and still love this anime. Some moments may be a bit cliche and guessable, but the way they are shown make them entertaining to watch, even if you know whats going to happen. I recommend both shows to any anime lovers.

aerickson aerickson says...

I watched and adored both of these anime. As for the characters, the female leads have strong, overbearing personalities. The male leads are sarcastic, attractive, and always Tomoe is always getting Nanami out of trouble just like Usui and Misaki. One big difference is the flip flop of relationships and feelings. In Maid-sama Misaki is the one discovering her feelings for Usui, but in Kamisama we're sitting back and eagerly waiting for Tomoe to declare his feelings. Kamisama also has a magical element, but I feel like that adds to, rather than takes away from, the relationship between Nanami and Tomoe. Finally, both of these shows have great elements of humor and focus on a relationship between the main characters that leaves you waiting for the next development.

Both protagonists also strive to change to better and discover their true selves, alongside with the feeling of love, which is completely foreign to them. Surely two loving, touching and original stories that are a must to watch! Skip-Beat and Maid-Sama use similar types of humor, and the main male characters in also do things that just don't make sense immediately. Both of the female narrators/main characters are very competitive and determined and have a job that they don't want to own up to.

FairyTaillives FairyTaillives says...

it is nice how she is trying hard to become a star(the hero of skip beat) which much reminds me of misaki who also bears everything around her and works hard despite evrything. in both animes the story progresses in a nice unexpected way which makes them worth watching.

Jilder Jilder says...

Similiar animation and few similiar things (characters, funny moments and chibi moments). While watching this anime I had a same feeling while I watched Kaichou wa Maid-sama. I didn't think I would ever see something at the same quality as KWM again. The only thing that hurts me is that I didn't see it before :D.

Toradora!

Toradora!

Ryuuji Takasu has an eventful life: his classmates think he's a delinquent due to his 'killer' eyes; his crush Minori seems ever out of reach; and he’s just had an unfortunate encounter with 'palm-sized Taiga' – a feisty and dainty wench in his class. With different cleaning habits and tempers, the two clash like night and day; that is, except for the fact that Taiga and Ryuuji have crushes on the other's good friend! With school rumors abounding, the duo must now work together to play matchmaker for each other. Who will end up with their true love?

If I was to make a list of the absolute best romance animes in existence, these two would own spots 1 and 2. I cannot praise either series as much as they deserve, but if you watch them I won't have to!

Each episode of both shows had me laughing until my stomach was sore, in a good way ;). Each show has an absolutely hilarious cast that suppliment the main characters very well.

Any show can make you laugh, but the real beauty of Toradora and Maid-sama lies within romantic aspect. One minute you'll be laughing like crazy, and the next you'll find yourself immersed in those little romantic moments that just put a smile on your face and give you butterflies.

Oh, and they both have a very satisfying ending. I know for a fact that if you liked one, you'll love the other. I enjoyed both from start to finish, and I know you will too! :D

onepieceout onepieceout says...

This totally has tons of LOL moments and the love story is pretty close to each other. The ending in this was somewhat of a disappointment to me though, but all in all it was pretty cool how all the love changes came and took place. I'd suggest watching it if you enjoyed Maid-sama.

eaper eaper says...

Each of these series mix great comedy and romance together while following a tsundere lead. Toradora is much more harem-y, and has better comedy and romance/drama, IMO, but if you like one, it is worth checking out the other.

KarnowoB KarnowoB says...

Both anime have a strong male lead and a tsundere female lead. Not only this but in both cases the female lead acts strong but has her own problems that make her show her weak side.

RnoO RnoO says...

Both are Romance, the girls are masculine and strong, comedy ^-^ !

Both are fun and school life !

I think those two anime similar more than any 2 anime ^-^

silverfur silverfur says...

Both are romantic comedy animes....Higly enjoyable! The main female leads are strong and know when to take stand. Also both represernt high school life. I highly recommend the two.

Hemophobia Hemophobia says...

These two shows both offer a great plot that is completed in a short anime series. You will be staying up saying, "Only one more!" You actually will watch until you pass out! These shows are perfectly alike in everyway!

Both Toradora and Maid-sama focus on school life and romance, they are both very amusing, the female leads are very similar in many aspects, and both endings are very nice. The graphics are lovely in both anime, as well.I really loved them since, although being romantic comedies and shoujos, they aren't that foolish and childish: the characters are very interesting and they develop strong and mature feelings for each other. The relationship between the leading characters has a nice development in both anime, as well, although things happen differently in each case.If you have seen and liked one of them you will most certainly like the other.

Gavia Gavia says...

These two are both romantic shoujo series with some comedy elements, in school settings.

The main characters are very similar. This means they have some similar dynamics, but the two shows treat the relationships between the protagonists very distinctly.

The supporting casts are also very different, which means watching Toradora and Maid-sama right after each other won't be too much of the same. If you like one you should check out the other.

otakuchuuchuu27 otakuchuuchuu27 says...

they are similar, both anime have tsunderes as their main protagonists, both Taiga and Misaki fell in-love with the guy they once hated, their love stories are full of surprises, that's why it's very fun to watch....

TheShipWeirdo TheShipWeirdo says...

Both animes are fantastic. They have great romance and likeable characters. The females are both a bit hotheaded and competitive, while the males are calm and collected. The graphics are also great of both of them and the animes are set in modern times. I recommend one would definitely like these both, especially if they've watched the other.

Jdogtoocool Jdogtoocool says...

I agree, Kaichou wa Maid sama and Toradora are both great romance comedies based around a Tsundere couple. I completely disagreed with who ended with what in both anime and that's even more reason to recommend these two. If you like one I'm sure you'll love the other.

kristrex kristrex says...

Both of them have a female lead who is a tsundere, and the love stories in these animes are both very cute :)

dumbravenclaw dumbravenclaw says...

If you like a a good romance together with a great comedy this both match.

Both couples are diffrent from each other, yet they really suit together. I can tell they aren't complet opposite and complet each other.

Both girls are strong as character and personality and let me say that's really satisfying for a change

dillontoh1997 dillontoh1997 says...

Similar tsundere traits and amazing balance between light-hearted comedy and heavy-hearted issues. Main characters are in love but they deny it, they have fun adventures together where they are well-developed through side-characters and the environment. (:

Vawalker Vawalker says...

Despite Ryuji Takasu’s gentle personality, his eyes make him look like an intimidating delinquent. Class rearrangements on his second high school year put him together with his best friend, Yusaku Kitamura, and his hidden crush, Minori Kushieda. Along with these two comes Kushieda’s best friend, Taiga Aisaka. Her delicate appearance contrasts with her brutal personality. Secretly in love with Kitamura, Taiga agrees to help Ryuji with his love interest as long as he helps her get closer to hers.

They aren't that similar but I loved both and this is my second fave anime. A major difference is that instead of the boy taking control in maid same taiga the girl takes control in toradora.

The two main male protagonists are both a little overbearing, do as they please, and have totally fallen for a female lead who seems bent on ignoring them in favor of her studies. If you like shoujo with lots of tension and hilarious conflict between a pair of characters who oh-so-obviously like each other, give these two shows a go.

Interesting romance but with plot and without very idiotic behavior of a girl. Male characters likable. Bookworm girls are quite intelligent.

RoyalOss RoyalOss says...

Both are love stories between a main female lead who both struggle to maintain their top position in the school test results and the carefree male characters who ace at everything they do.

A twist is that Maid-Same focusses alot on Misaki`s part-time job where Kaibatsu-kun focuses more on the social problems surrounding Haru.

The shows also contain a good amount of humour, of which also some cheesy humour.

In both animes Romance and Comedy are the two main genres. In addition to that, male protagonists are popular (less in Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun since at the beginning he's known as a deliquent) and fall inlove pretty at the beggining of the story.

If you loved the Romance and the Comedy in one of these animes, I can only guarantee you you'll love the other one too !

If you are a Kaichou-wa Maid-sama! fan like me, you are definetly looking for your next romance anime that is full of comedy!

My Little Monster is the only anime I have found similar to Kaichou-wa Maid-sama. The plot, animation style, and the language is quite similar. Both of these anime tell the story of a troublesome boy falling for the rather cold-hearted girl. These high school romances approach the growing relationship between the characters from a comical point of view. Their cat and dog like arguments, annoying each other yet worrying for one another is illustrated hilariously. It never gets old.

If you like romance anime that is not overwhermingly romantic, dramatic, and lovey dovey, these two animes are for you to have a laugh while getting your heart flattered a little.

Kimi ni Todoke - From Me To You

Kimi ni Todoke - From Me To You

Sawako Kuronuma is just like any other high school girl who wants to make friends and be useful. The only problem is she bears a worrying resemblance to Sadako from 'The Ring!' Because of her reputation, people are not only terrified of her, but small dogs even bark in fear at her presence; in fact, the only person in school who will talk to her is the lively class hottie, Kazehaya. As the pair spends more time together, Kazehaya slowly begins to bring Sawako out of her shell and soon their feelings for each other develop further. Though with her crippling insecurities, lack of social skills, and a series of cruel rumors and misunderstandings, it seems that Sawako's dream of a normal life won’t be quite so easy to obtain.

Kimi ni Todoke and Kaichou wa Maid-sama! Are similar to me because of the relationships between the characters.  The relationships that develop in the school settings and the support system that the main female protagonist is given from the ‘hero’ of the series.

KiyoneSaya KiyoneSaya says...

While the art style is similar for both of these series I'd say the biggest thing that stands out for me is how the guys in these anime give the leading lady a softer edge. Truly showing the vibrant colors of the protagonists.

cahbayb cahbayb says...

Youll need to complete the second season aswell for these two to be similar. Theyre both school romances with lots of comedy.

Atalea Atalea says...

They both take place at school. The guys are only interested in one girl. The set-up is the same, but in Kimi Ni Todoke both of the characters are very shy. They love each other but don't know how to express these feelings. In Kaichou wa Maid-Sama is the guy a bad boy and the girl is a strong and confident woman. But Misaki is still shy to love and doesn't want to give in. It's both about the girl experiencing love. You'll love both Kazehaya from Kimi ni Todoke as Usui from Kaichou wa Maid-Sama!

Drasticc Drasticc says...

Outside the run of the mill school life romance, theres a lot of comedy and "misunderstandings."  Also there is many simularities such as the artistic style of the characters and the whole "bubbly love scenes."

Both stories are about a high school girl that is clueless about love. What's different is that in Kimi ni Todoke, you get to see an insecure, low confidence girl and on the other side, in Kaichou wa Maid-sama, you get a loud and active girl. However, both of them are shy and unaware of their feelings. The two love stories are so pure that you will go "KYAAAA" throughout the entire show~

Say "I love you."

Mei Tachibana has had neither a friend nor a boyfriend in 16 years, and she doesn’t plan on ending that streak any time soon. The outcast learned years ago that social obligations only lead to pain, and has carefully guarded her heart to keep from getting hurt. However, the girl can’t stay withdrawn forever, especially after attracting the attention of the handsome Yamato, who finds her caustic personality interesting and strives to date her after she roundhouse kicks him down the stairs. But even the most earnest of romances can be crippled by jealousy and insecurity, and this pair has plenty of both. Can their feelings for each other overcome their own emotional weaknesses, or will this love perish before it even begins?

Of course both anime aren't similar in sense of setting, but they are in their kind of love story. In both anime the protagonists fall in love slowly and sweetly. The anime spend a lot of time getting to know the characters and how they interact with eachother while we see how the main characters slowly move towards eachother and fall in love.

Another similarity is the characters of the main characters. Shirayuki and Misaki are both very sure of themselves and they are independent women just like Zen and Usui are so sure of themselves and how they go after the women.

While the setting and premise for these shows are very different, these are two of the most incredible and fulfilling romance animes I have seen.  In each of them, a strong willed and fiercely independent girl wants to create a life for herself without depending on others for help.  The girls are talented and intelligent and carve their own path despite significant obstacles placed in their way.  The main love interest is a guy who is incredibly talented, wealthy, and independent in his own right, and falls for the girl because of her drive, skills, and motivation.  The main characters relationship grows as they support and encourage each other, helping each other through difficult times, while allowing the other person to stay true to themselves and their desires.  If you liked one of the shows for the absolutely beautiful romance and healthy relationship, then you will like the other.

Both have strong leads, with Shirayuki being less "annoying". For me I prefered Snow White with Red Hair's male lead, as he felt a bit more realistic and acted like someone his age. Usui and Misaki are still cute tho. Though I don't know if I'm being biased because SWWRH is my favourite show.
