Wild 7

Crime is rampant, politicians controlling the government are in the pockets of large crime syndicates, and the police are as good as the crook with a gun to the back of your head. What's a good official to do to stop criminals who are the law? The answer: make an elite force with the skills to stop any criminal, anywhere, anytime. this force is the Wild 7. Each member of this elite group has an extensive felony record and isn't afraid to add onto it, even if half the city has to pay for it.

Both series are essentially about the few good trying to make a difference in fighting corruption and crime by making there own laws, and about the mixed feelings of justice.

RoyalOss RoyalOss says...

Both are about renegade cops with a lot of violence. Expect 90's schlock.

Mad Bull however is better because of crotch grenades...yes, exactly as you hear it, crotch grenades.

HasseRovdjur HasseRovdjur says...

Sometimes, evildoers are so bad that the cops need to be bad as well.

These two titles are about cops that forgot about the whole "protect and serve" bit and just do their best to blow shit up and kill all the bad mofos out there.

Mad Bull is more gorey and explicit, but both are nineties OVA trash. Junk food in anime form.

Nicknames Nicknames says...

Both shows feature cops who do their jobs in "their own way", that's it, shooting everyone and everything that stands in the way. Both also have a so bad it's good dub, a cheesy soundtrack, and enough explosions to make Michael Bay cry tears of joy. Fans of one will definitely like the other.

Same kind of over the top swearing, blood, and nudity.

VRDave VRDave says...

Okay, so you have cops, violence, and a very creative bad guys. Mix that with some nude scences and more violence and you have a another great/bad cop vs bad guy anime. Angel Cop from what I've seen tends to be a little more serious than Mad Bull though.

HasseRovdjur HasseRovdjur says...

Both are ugly and violent OVAs that are ostensibly about the challenges law enforcement officers face. Both also come with rather... thespianly challenged dubs chock full of expletives. Angel Cop is more gritty and a whole lot less sexist while Mad Bull tries to be more tongue-in-cheek, but the rampant misogyny (that is anything but tongue-in-cheek) ruins most of the effect.

If you for some reason enjoyed either, check out the other. If you saw one and that it was trash but still want more, do yourself a favour and check out the other work.

If you're looking for ridiculous over the top action and violence then these are the OVAs for you. Neither of these have a plot that make a single lick of sense, but they're perfect for turning your brain off and sitting back to enjoy action and gruff manly men, doing gruff manly shit. Stuff will explode, you won't really know why, but it's not important anyway because these are all about the lurid spectacle.

RoyalOss RoyalOss says...

In Mad Bull we follow a buff manly Cop fighting with other buff men.

In The Hard we follow a buff manly Bounty Hunter fighting other buff men.

Both take place in America and have the same 90's feeling, ridiculous action, ridiculous muscles and ridiculous ''plot''.

Nicknames Nicknames says...

Both are over-the-top 90's action ovas that take place in America. Both of them barely have any plot but they compensate it with as many gunfights and explosions they can fit in their runtime. So if you liked one and you're up to another so-bad-it's-good ova give the other a go, you won't be dissapointed.

If you like the gore factor, here's another good one. Beautifully animated as well, with a terribly depressing storyline that will get to you.

Probably the only thing close to being as violent as Mad Bull (but not in a funny way) is Berserk. Swordsmen, mercenaries, lots of blood, and a huge twist.

Like cheesy amounts of blood, sex, and general campiness? Mad Bull and Golgo 13 are definitely for you. While Mad Bull tries to have a more light-hearted air, both will make you groan from just how bad they really are.

HasseRovdjur HasseRovdjur says...

Inferno Cop and Mad Bull are both shows that has a lead that is a violent sociopath that resorts to most problems he faces with by utilising violence. Said protagonists also carry a badge to go with their gun, which means that they're cops. Not very good ones, but that is pretty much the point. Violent confrontations abound and justice is best dispensed by itchy trigger fingers.

And they're not just violent, both anime are incredibly over the top, though Inferno Cop really pisses on Mad Bull in this department. Inferno Cop is also a lot more surreal, while Mad Bull is more of a schlocky parody (at least I hope it is).

So, want another, let's call it unorthodox, show about law enforcement, go for either of these.
