Lupin III - Recommendations

Cowboy Bebop owes a lot of its charm to Lupin III. Altough it is darker it has humoristic touches all along the series. It has great characters both by design and acting, great script, good animation and awesome music. You're late watching it!

if you like this style of animation then you will like the other, lupin is like cowboy bebops granddady, animation wise as well as plot wise, though.. one futureristic and perfectly legal, and the other one, past and not so legal. both groups feed on others for money and also have a habbit of finding something else thats going on.

Both Lupin and Cowboy Bebop are very character driven shows, and (as is the case with Lupin) a connecting plot doesn't really exist from episode to episode. Both shows also deal with outlaws/bounty hunters traveling around to do different jobs/steal different things. The creator of Cowboy Bebop was also recently quoted as being influenced by the early Lupin TV series in reference to his work on both Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo. If you enjoy Cowboy Bebop, you will enjoy Lupin TV (especially from Season 2 on).

Cowboy Bebop's main character, Spike Spiegel, is inspired by Lupin's titular character, from the way he walks to the way he talks (but Spike is a little more laidback). If you are a fan of the character Lupin himself, then you're going to have a blast watching Spike in action.

The Cowboy Bebop anime was inspired heavily by the much older (though movies and such still being produced) Lupin the 3rd.

Both these animes are very entertainiing, with simalar main characters, Lupin the worlds greatest thief and Spike a Space Cowboy. They're light hearted, though can be quite dramatic at some points. Definilty worth checking out.

A team of eccentric, morally flighty individuals skirting the realms of legality and teasing our simplistic concepts of good and bad get up to no good on an episodic basis. Cowboy Bebop borrows much of the central idea from Lupin III, but adds a far more enticing sci-fi world concept, serious characters who are uniquely well developed, and a stunning soundtrack. As an example, the lead character Spike Spiegel is essentially a more complex and cooler version of Lupin.

I think both series are of a serious nature or subject matter but with an overall lighthearted nature. Both series have a similar character dynamic and an interesting storyline.

Both of these series are episodic and character driven. It is really easy to see that Cowboy Bebop has been influenced by Lupin III.

The characters of these series clearly bear some resemblance to each other. They are also really likable and we never learn all that much about them. Money and riches seem to be the main motivator for the cast of both shows.

It is surprising that both of these series have aged really well, especially Lupin III (made in early 70s)

If you liked one, you will most likely enjoy the other as well.

I honestly cannot believe only one other person recommend these together. A gripping tale of action and humor, following international gentlemen thieves with a firm stance against violence.

Assuming what you enjoyed in Lupin was the classic hijinks of a thief who uses tricks and sleight of hand to escape his hunters, then you will really enjoy the similar approach in Daughter of Twenty Faces. The mysterious hero, Twenty Faces, likes disguising himself and going on wild adventures through a setting that is a bizarre mix of eras, a lot like in Lupin. The show is far more innocent than Lupin and features no sexual content whatsoever or any adult kind of violence, but apart from that there's some significant continuity here.

Both Lupin and Detective Conan do a lot of problem solving. They are pretty much like an anime version of Law and Order, except better! =]

Both of these series are centred around the world of crime, and while they approach from opposite sides, if you like the crime genre then both of these are for you. Both series also have a good mix of comedy, action and intrigue and often include a nice little twist at the end of each case. Also, both Lupin III and Detective Conan are relatively episodic (though Conan has more ongoing plot) so if you liked that about one, you are likely to enjoy that about the other.

Both Jing and Lupin are about master thieves who seem to get themselves into more trouble than is necessary, but always come out on top in one way or another.

Both shows center around easygoing, master thieves who like to use calling cards to announce their thefts. Jing is sort of like a young Lupin with a magical bird instead of a gun

Cat's Eye and Lupin both deal with a popular thief. Try to watch these and you'll surely enjoy them!

Both have involve a group of thiefs trying to steal something rare. But what makes it better is that whenever they are stealing something,comedy comes in and gives the viewer a good laugh.

Desert Punk and Lupin are about crime and going against the government and cops. If you like crime anime, watch them both!

Lupin from Lupin III and Sunabozu from Desert Punk are similar characters in many ways. Partially motivated by profit and earning the reputation of their trade through their numerous bag of tricks. Add in their weakness for the opposite sex, and you hae a full bag of similarities. Beyond the similarities of characters, both series define themselves through their humor and crazy capers. If you enjoyed one, you will definately enjoy the other.

If you're like me you'l enjoy both of these series, the leads are both goofy and hilarious male characters that have somewhat of a darker side. Both of which have gun wielding expert side kicks.

Two more must see animes.

Trigun and Lupin III have similar characters and humor value. Lupin and Vash go through their respective series on a combination of skill and luck, leaving destruction in their wake.

Both series had me enjoying them immensly. I can confidently say if you enjoyed one you will enjoy the other.

Even though in 'Lupin the 3rd" the main protagonist is on the other side of the law as the hero in "City Hunter" there are many parallels between the series.In both series the heroes always try and help a person who has an immediate problem and in most cases it means killing them. Both heroes are cunning detectives and skillful sharp shooters. An obvious correlation is that both main protagonists are womanizers and get into trouble for being so. In both series the hero's main side kick is adept with firearms.The last obvious similarity is that even though the missions are usually of a serious nature, there is a fair bit of slapstick comedy in between the action.

City Hunter and Lupin III have very similar main characters. Ryo and Lupin are both happy go lucky individuals that are continuously chasing after women. However, when it comes to business, they are at the top of their game, always seeing their mission through despite the odds.

If you enjoyed the madcap adventures of one of our heroes, you are likely to enjoy the antics of the other.

Both shows were created by Monkey Punch & the lead characters remind me of Lupin & Fujiko if they were working with the law instead of against it.

Both are MonkeyPunch productions that fit under the mystery/comedy genre. The characters in both are unlikely heroes with similar personas.

These are both episodic action comedies that share the same cheesy 70s style of over the top dialogue and art. Both shows are cheaply animated, but the art style gives them both tons of charm. 

The plots may be different with Cutey Honey being a super hero and Lupin being about a group of thieves, but both in both shows the protagonists fight clearly evil villains while dodging well meaning but bumbling authority figures. 

Cutey Honey has a lot more ecchi than Lupin where most of the service moments are reserved for Fujiko, but with the comedy, action and episodic structure being so similar if you liked one then you should probably check out the other.

A total agreement. The main voice actress of Fujiko is Honey. Both titles use the same astetic of a caper a week. and then there is the ever present character that is chasing the main lead (Lupin or Honey) that is more or less the comic releif. In Lupin it is Zenigatta, in Cutey Honey it is the Principal. 

The animation in both are old and appropriate for the 70's
