After receiving a note from Lupin, Zenigata arrives at the birthday party of a rich politician. Sure enough he sees Lupin, who tells him the note is a fake and he’s there to find out who sent it. However, mayhem ensues when a gang of masked assassins known as Tarantula gatecrash the party, killing all in sight! During the commotion, Zenigata is shot by a man wielding a Walther P-38; a gun that Lupin recognises all too well. Then, when Lupin sneaks onto the uncharted island that serves as Tarantula's base, not only is he forcibly recruited into the group, but he also gets caught up in a deeper plot that splits the assassins in two. Can Lupin settle the score from his past, and maybe snag some gold along the way?

Thought I would start reviewing some of my fave anime franchisesMight as well start with my boi Lupin the IIIthis tv special was released back in 1997 has two known names Lupin III Island of Assassins orLupin III Walther P38 (Lupins trusty pistol)Story: Lupin investigates the news of a fake version of one of his trademark calling cards during a high-class party. A group of assassins, the Tarantula, crash the party and murder the host. Zenigata, investigating the card, chases Lupin but ends up shot and injured by a silver Walther P38. Lupin, catching a glimpse of the familiar gun, is determined to avenge not only Zenigata, but an episode of his past. Lupin and Fujiok infiltrate the island by joining Tarantula, while Jigen and Goemon hide in the underground. Lupin also befriends Ellen, an assassin who is disillusioned with Tarantula following the death of her younger brother who was also with the organization. Prevented from leaving by an ingenious poison and also interested in Tarantula's large stock of gold, Lupin and his gang work to bring down the assassins and find the bearer of the silver Walther.  The Review:The story is quite dark in tone for red jacket Lupin, Personally, I think Green jacket would work better hereThe story Is a good 7/10 for me while other Lupin fans may disagree as I've heard this title is pretty mixed among themI like the dark tone that it was going for.I do have some mirror issues with the film, Manly the true villain being pretty easy to guess and how I think it would have been better just to focus on Lupin and Ellen, getting rid of Jigen goemon eta (which would be odd I know)  with that said I find the plot takes enough turns to still be enjoyable, there is a boring bit getting up to the middle once it reaches said middle things pick upthere's some side characters which are ok, nothing really worth writing home about one last bit I want to talk about is the music "Don't forget my eyes" actually sung by the actress who plays Ellen  Is truly an amazing piece for the ending scene Welp that was my review, first time could be worse I suppose I tried to avoid spoilers, all in all, I recommend itespecially if you're looking for a darker Lupin film  And that's me outta here!
