The Rail Zeppelin is something special to Fate/Zero fan. We see how Waver grow and how is he changing. The story teach us about clock tower and also about lord families, this is quite useful when you are watching Fate/GO and Fate/Apocrypha. I personally recommend watching Rail Zeppelin if you are fan of Waver Velvet.

I watched all the Fate series and I can tell you that I enjoyed this one more than what it was spun off of.  The character development is great as well as the series of problems that have to be solved over the course of the series.  I also can say that the end credits music and scene has me watch it all the way through after each episode which is almost something I always skip, it just draws me in.  I also enjoy that they give you more of an understanding of the background of the fate series and more world development as well as the character development.  I do hope they will continue with this spin off and give it another season.

Spoiler-free Review

Honestly, this was much more enjoyable than I expected. The Fate series in general is VERY good but you don't really know what you're going into if all you're doing is following some 'Watch Order Guide' blindly. But that in itself is what makes this fun. The fact I didn't even read the synopsis of this anime made for some very nice surprises.

Such as, whom the protagonist is here. I love this fact. How the protagonist has grown and became a competent , knowledgeable and smart adult, is a pleasure to see in itself. Regardless of what the story is, to a Fate fan like me, it's just a perpetual pleasure watching this character face challenges and uncover mysteries, and act in a way that seems more dignified and mature than his younger-self.

If I had to describe this Anime in one word, it would be, "Nice". It's just a nice anime if you have watched the Fate Series in the CORRECT order. Tried to make the rating as unbiased as possible, however I had to take into account the story prior to this specific Anime.

8.1/10.

There's a little bit left to be desired, such as, slower pacing, MORE story, more details, etc, but these are very common and generic issues most anime fans see with many anime, so I don't really deduce too many points for this. The story itself is sound and consistent, and very well-written, however to an experienced anime fan it is not mindblowing in any way, it's just a very good and interesting story.

If you're going through the entire Fate series, or thinking about which of the "Optional" parts you should watch, this one's worth watching 100%. Not as insane as the other parts of Fate in terms of combat and fight scenes, but still a beautiful animeverse to see nonetheless.

And of course, don't forget about the 1-episode Special "Intro" to this Anime, as well as the 50-minute "Outtro". I think the order goes:

1. 'Intro'. Full title:

Lord El-Melloi II's Case Files {Rail Zeppelin} Grace note - A Grave Keeper, a Cat, and a Mage.

2. Main Series. Full title:

Lord El-Melloi II's Case Files {Rail Zeppelin} Grace note

3. Special Episode. Full title:

Lord El-Melloi II’s Case Files {Rail Zeppelin} Grace note -Special Episode-

Not yet sure about the Special Episode though, as I haven't watched it yet, but everything points to this being the correct order.
