Daniel is an unattractive loner who wakes up in a different body. Now tall, handsome, and cooler than ever in his new form, Daniel aims to achieve everything he couldn't before. How far will he go to keep his body... and his secrets?
This show is very strange. As expected you get your generic sense of satisfaction from this previously bullied "loser" becoming "cool" and being able to confront, annoy, and even beat up some bullies. However you also have a few of these bullies joining the main cast and having everything work out for them as a friend of the protagonist when they never repented in any way. I found this very annoying and I feel most would feel the same. Another issue I had with it is just how unrealisticly "evil" almost everyone in the show is, Ive seen this issue in other shows but to a way lesser extent than in lookism. Lastly I would like to give credit to the finale witch had an entertaining and very satisfying musical performance as well as an interesting plot twist. To me this episode made the show worth watching.
As a fan of the webtoon, I was expecting for a bit more... At least for the situations or problematics that were like school related (Stalking, internet catfish etc). But I think, bc of the way they finnished it, was created more as a webtoon's promotion than a Animation with a fundament bc it finnished at the begining of the webtoon. Still the bullying issue is really well showed as it is in the webtoon. Obvious in the webtoon is better bc there is more chap about it and more infos. So as a promotion anime I can say is really good. They didn't skip a lot of stuffs that occured before the anime end. The characters are mostly as they were in the webtoon what gave me kinda a nostalgia of the first chapters. But I'm still expecting for a continuation.
Lookism is one of my favorite webtoons of all time. When I heard we we getting a show, I got so excited. While the new designs are nice, that's where it ends. Sadly a lot of the charm of the series seems to be lost when translating it into a different medium. The actions scenes which looked sick in the webtoon instead look choppy and boring in animation. I think the anime would have had a better chance if they skipped the first arc and went straight for one of the later arcs. With a series that's ongoing at over 400 chapters, a series only coving the first 5% would never turn out well.
