Only 2 episodes in for Locodol but i think i'll be safe making this recommendation - Both Wake Up Girls and Locodol bring us a close and personal view of the world of struggling regional idols, their failures, successors, and growth - both as individuals and as performers.

I agree, the two are similiar in many ways.  But they're also different.  Locodol is a comedy, Wake Up Girls! is a drama.  Locodol walks the sunny side, while Wake Up Girls! also explores the darker and grittier side of the idol industry.  If you enjoyed one, the other is worth checking out, but you should be aware of the differences so you know what to expect.

Two anime where cute moe girls try and promote their local town in unique ways, that attract more attention to their given area. In LocoDol they focus on local idols and getting them attention through idol activities whereas Cheer Fruits is all about creating 'mascots' for the town to help promote what their town is about in order to save something special. If you enjoy a bunch of cute girls doing cute things for a reason of some sort, or just generally like this style of anime and you've watched one, you might want to check out the other.
