Imagine the same concept, but with better (though not CG) animation. It's a '80s punk anime style with modern quality, and set in a slightly distopian world.

Subtract the backstory and the steam, then double the boxing, It's a gripping underdog story,

(I think I hit the character min now...)

Levius and Megalo Box are both shows about steampunk boxing. They both take place in gritty, worn-down settings and feature lots of exciting slugfests.

Both Levius and Megalo Box are anime series that feature some sort of augmented boxing.  Levius is more steam punk while Megalo Box is more futuristic, but they both have a similar vibe and awesome fights.  I do think that Megalo Box is the better of the two, but both are worth watching in my opinion.

Violet Evergarden

Violet Evergarden

As a child, Violet was used by the military as a weapon because of her combat prowess. Her one friend and protector was Major Gilbert, who named the girl, taught her how to speak and write, and cared for her. There, she trains to become an Auto Memories Doll: a person who writes letters for others, deciphering their true feelings and expressing it on paper. As Violet travels the world, she helps her clients find love and comfort through the letters she writes; but more importantly, she slowly begins to understand emotions, so that she can finally cope with what she’s done, and what she’s lost.

The series are about dealing with the scars left by the war.

Both protagonist figure out how to deal with their traumas throught a new job, trying to understand themselves by performing such activities and meeting new people.

And they both have metal arms (obvious).
