Nodame Cantabile

Nodame Cantabile

The studious and uptight Chiaki is well-known as the top pianist of his school, and dreams of becoming a world-class conductor like his idol, Viera; but his fear of flying (which makes studying abroad impossible) combined with a recent break-up and dismissal from his piano instructor causes that future to seem both bleak and unlikely. After collapsing outside of his apartment, drunk, Chiaki inadvertently meets a young woman named Nodame who, while quite talented at the piano, is unclean, clumsy, and haphazard. Despite being almost polar opposites, the two begin to grow closer and work, together, to overcome the obstacles in their careers.

Both Corda and Nodame involve music and making music as well as competing with the "elite" style muscians.

Both series are full of music and fun. The main character in Nodame is very much like Hino because she doesn't think that she can play very well; but in reality everyone loves to hear her play. No magic violin is in Nodame, though... just a normal piano.

If you love classical music and anime about people who love classical music you really should watch both Nodame and la Corda d'Oro. Additionally both anime are beautifully animated, and has well thought out plots.

Both animes are very similar. Nodame in Nodame Cantabile plays differently based on her feelings at the time. This is also how Hino from La Corda played her violin. Both are very emotional and leave an emotional impact.

algelic algelic says...

Both series focus on the «discovery» of the true concept of music by music students. While the theme might be the same, these two shows have completely different moods. In Nodame you'll spend half the time laughing, while in Corda d'Oro it's mostly a serious mood sometimes bordering on depressive. Not to say that Corda is a bad anime... I liked it very much. It's just that it has a completely different take on music. Other major difference: in Nodame there are many interesting and different characters and many plot twists... while in Corda there are less characters, who aren't very different, and the story isn't that unpredictable.

Both are about music students, and both have strong female lead characters that are just a bit strange. Both animes have a strong appreciation of classical music and just by watching you can't help but learn something new about music.

Both Nodame Cantabile and La Corda D'Oro are anime series about classical music! The have lots of romance and quite a few funny situations! La Corda D'Oro is indeed a reverse harem type of anime, although Nodame Cantabile focuses on the feelings of a girl towards one boy, if you enjoy romance with lots of beautiul classical music and you liked one of them, I am sure you will like the other as well!

Caramelo Caramelo says...

Both animes are about music! Music lovers are sure to enjoy them. The realtionships in between the characters are sweet too, just that for La Corda, the ending was a bit wrong because the main character didn't end up with anyone. At least the animators didn't make it apparent.. But overall, both La Corda and Nodame Cantabile are really good!

Ouran High School Host Club

Ouran High School Host Club

Ouran High is a school for the extremely wealthy or, in Haruhi's case, the extremely talented. But no amount of talent will help when Haruhi accidentally drops an eight million yen vase in a music room. The vase was the property of Ouran High School Host Club, a group of attractive young men who, for a fee, provide their time and affections for their lovesick clientele: the female students. Fascinated by this strange new specimen, a poor and clumsy commoner, they force Haruhi to work for them until the debt is repaid; but they get a lot more than they bargained for...

In the world where a female is the center of attention, it'll take all the guys around to help her in a time of need. In both Ouran High School Host Club and La Corda, you'll have tears brought to your eyes watching the guys come to the rescue of the main protagonist. If you like reverse harem anime with a touch of humor and manga influence, then Ouran High School Host Club would be the anime to watch.

wolfangel87 wolfangel87 says...

These anime could be part of a reverse harem comedic enterprise. Ouran Host Club is a lighter anime than La Corda and has a more comedy. Both series have a plethora of characters who express different opinions and views towards the heroine, making the resulting setting magnificent. La Corda takes on a more serious note due to the stress of having to learn how to play the violin.

Hyorinshiro Hyorinshiro says...

Both Ouran and La Cordo revolve around a young girl who has a very carefree attitude at first, but then matures and sees the wonderful opportunities that have been presented to her by "bad luck." She is surrounded by beautiful guys who are admired; these guys eventually start to see the good sides of the girl and fall for her. She must decide who to choose, but who will it be? You'll have to watch to find out!

littlekitty littlekitty says...

Both are outstanding shoujo reverse harem anime. Each show plays on Bishounen stereotypes but they do so in a way that is refreshing and enjoyable. While La Corda is more of a drama and Host Club is more of a comedy, both series effectively focus on character interactions and development rather than on plot.

Both series are pretty much about a girl who doesn't really fit in, but accidently join a school club where she makes a lot of new friends. It's really fun to watch the girls in these anime grow and mature with the help of their friends and families! And to play "Who Gets The Girl". ;D

Ouran and La Corda are nice. Even though the storylines aren't very the same.. But still, the development of realtionships are nice in both cases. Both are cool ><

These animes are very similar. While OHSHC pokes fun at itself and its stereotypical characters, La Corda D'Oro does not, but those are really the only differences. Both feature a female character who changes the lives of the men around her by her own strong will and personality. Both also blossom with exciting romance possibilities.

well i think you would like ouran host club because it has those moments where youre in suspense thinking WHO IS SHE GONNA CHOOSE!?!?!?!?!? just like in La Corda where the main character is also surrounded by guys and gets into situations but ouran focuses more on humor and has LOL moments La Corda focuses on the beauty of music and hardships they were both awesome and have segregated classes that think they are "better" then everybody else

summerchild summerchild says...

Both animes deal about a girl in the middle of a bunch of boys. They have a great deal of funny moments, although La Corda D'Oro tends to be more serious & dramatic. Both series have a wide range of characters and you'll sure find one you can fall in love with ;)

miriam321 miriam321 says...

Male harem, the girl doesn't seem to be interested in anybody in particular but everyone is super in love with her and think she's the best thing that's ever been - though she didn't really do much. It may sound cheesy when I write it that way, but I so happen to love this kind of stories hohohohoOuran is much more the comic type, though, and it takes this harem theme in a very sarcastic way. La Corda d'oro is more "serious" and dramatic. But if you liked one, chances are you'll like the other too! :)

Reverse Harem? Filled with Bishies? Revolving around music? It's obvious that the two of these animes are very similar and therefore if you like one you'll definitely like the other.

In terms of what you're looking for in an anime though, they can slightly vary. If you are looking for a storyline with a little meaning and an anime that focuses on the instrumental side of music, you're probably going to want to watch LCD more. The characters appear to have more depth and stray from the stereotypes, something that is rare nowadays. However, Love 1000% has its own unique points of view. With each episode there will be new music, new songs, something that is very intriguing and you can look forward too all the time. The initial storyline takes a while to get going, but it is in it's own right, something to watch.

I gurantee if you enjoy one, you're likely to enjoy the other :)

The moment I started Uta no Prince-sama, I thought of La Corda D'Oro. I waited six episodes to make the recommendation, just to confirm the connection, but my first instinct was right. Both have many charismatic, musically talented male characters created basically to make girls squeal. They both have a kind female lead whom all the cute boys are drawn to. Basically, if you finish one and want more shoujo/reverse harem, try the other. I'm pretty sure you'll like it.

yamamotochigusa yamamotochigusa says...

Both animes are based off of an otome game. They are reverse harem animes with a music theme. The only difference is LCDO has another female character in a music group while a UtaPri doesn't. Some of the characters are pretty similar in personality and background. Kazuki Hihara is similar to Otoya, Len is like Tokiya, and Azuma Yunoki has Masato's family life, Ren's flirty personality aling with playing a woodwind instrument, and Natsuki's personality (you'll see). Keiichi and Syo are both blonde hair, blue eyed, shotas who play a stringed instrument. Ryoutarou Tsuchiura is similar to Masato because they both are pianists and have some sort of rivalry with a welathy musician in a different class(Class A for Masato with Ren in Class S and General Branch for Tsuchira with Len in the Music Branch).
