The films will follow The First Summer of Love phenomenon that occurred a decade before the first Eureka Seven series. The anime franchise thus far has hinted at, but never depicted in full, "the beginning of it all." The films will then have the same basic story as the first Eureka Seven series, but will have an original ending. It will have completely re-recorded lines, redone footage, and new scenes.
Eureka Seven is my favorite anime so I was rather dissapointed when I watched this. The first twenty or so minutes are awesome with all new content and new animation depicting the Summer of Love event, which is pretty much all they showed in the trailers. The good parts about this "movie" stop there. The rest of it is a poorly edited and pieced together collage of clips from about halfway through the original anime. As much as I love the original series, I was expecting a movie with entirely new animation and a retelling of the story (sort of like Rebuild of Evangelion films), like they advertised for in the trailer. I would have been angry if I spent money to see this, and sort of annoyed that I wasted the time to watch the mess that appeared after the Summer of Love sort of prologue.
